CarPlay is here! - Megathread

I agree wholeheartedly with you, but I'm also wondering whether there actually is a satellite radio antenna in one of the roof panels, but its functionality hasn't been activated yet. However, if this were true, you'd think that, like CarPlay, Lucid would say it is "coming."
My guess? Some manager said "let's just stream everything". Lucid should be more forthcoming about some things. They could tell us what features are planned and if SiriusXM was left out for a reason or will be in a software release or that they just screwed up and didn't think it was needed.

My 2 cents.

Seeing all the debate about SiriusXM has been interesting and completely eye-opening to me. I rented a car with Sirius once when it first came out decades ago. I drove into a parking garage and lost signal. Thought to myself "This is worthless" and then never considered subscribing to it ever again.

In the age of streaming and podcast apps, any live radio just feels like a relic to me. I had never questioned why Lucid wouldn't bother including it. Obviously I was wrong.

But if Lucid's designers were thinking like I was, there's your answer.
I agree, but I'm also fortunate to live in SoCal where cell service is abundant and all the road trips I normally take are also littered with cell towers.

Sometimes I miss all the mariachi music going up and down the 5 restricted to radio only...

I listen to SiriusXM in my car and on my phone. The satellite signal does drop in places but seems more consistent than cell network data. With Android Auto it's easy to stream SiriusXM also. I agree with "But if Lucid's designers were thinking like I was, there's your answer." so just tell us.

Yeah, I get the drop in cell signal. I have my phone set to pre-download my favorite podcasts, and the music I listen to most often I tend to keep downloaded on my phone as well. Turned off all the "save space" nonsense on my iPhone for that very reason.

Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me, but I'm just wondering why @ctonylee said he was considering installing an aftermarket SiriusXM setup, but was advised by a Lucid employee "not to do that," that the lack of SiriusXM was "the number one complaint," that that a SirusXM app would be "in the next OTA update." But, who knows, maybe the Lucid employee doesn't know the difference between cellular and satellite service!

Right now, I would be happy just to be able to use the thumb drives that I have with music on them! I have moved some tracks to my phone but I don't have room for all.

Yes, I could build playlists on a streaming service but why waste the time...

You can plug a thumb drive into your phone then stream that music over bluetooth via the phone via thumbdrive

They probably don't. If people are screaming for SiriusXM and an employee sees it on the list then for them it's "problem solved". They don't think about how it works on the backend and just see that it's coming not realizing that satellite and cellular will provide 2 very different experiences

Or, Lucid could just support music through the USB port like every other car that we have.

Well yea but aren't we all about finding workarounds on this forum? Hahah 🤣

How does the interface work between your aftermarket Tuner and Lucid? Is it BT, FM or direct?
Right now I use an FM modulator. The FM direct method would be nicer because it interrupts the FM signal path and prevents interference – this requires the removal of some headliner, so I'm not attempting that now. I may also need some adapters too, but won't know until I see the FM antenna connection.

I wanted to use BT, but Lucid only supports A2DP Bluetooth protocol for music. The BT adapters I bought were only Headset Profile (HSP) compatible. I have an A2DP bluetooth adapter on order and will try that out later this week. I've contacted Customer Care regarding the lack of HSP bluetooth support. Hopefully, the Lucid BT developers will throw us a bone.

It would be interesting if someone (not me:) took the time to count the number of work arounds people have come up with in order to get basic functionality on our $140-$180 k Lucid vehicles. I bet we would be surprised by the number.

0, the number is 0. That's because aren't working around anything and the car is perfect and what we are doing is going against the the design of the vehicle.

Good point. I was considering aftermarket because I had no idea when the app would be available. After a few days with the car, TuneIn, Tidal, etc. I rarely get a drop outs. Coverage here in Southern California seems pretty robust. I am a long time Sirius customer, but would rather not tear up my car if I don't have to.

Same..... I've been a long time SiriusXM subscriber and haven't missed it at all. I spend most my time using Tunein with a mix or Tidal and Spotify for everything else.

Wow, I wish I had your car! Mine is still a work in progress, albeit a very fast one! ;)

Agree, we all wish we had hydbob's car. Mine is in Chicago getting multiple issues fixed.
Haha, I'm not sure there is anyone on this forum besides @hmp10 who has had their car in for service more than me? I think I'm at 21 days total right now
