Yay Hardware upgrade CPU and memory

Just an FYI that if you upgrade software to 2.8.0 before the CCC v2 upgrade, the upgrade to CPU can’t be done.

My app showed the upgrade right after I dropped the car off. I wasn't going to do it, because I didn't know when they were going to start on the upgrade. Fortunately they did it right away. That had told me that they'd need the car for a few days, in which case I might have done it after the shop closed. Once they started working on it, it started showing a 1.x software version, which I assumed was because they were replacing the hardware, so I'm surprised that the current version is an issue. After the hardware upgrade was done, they started the 2.8 upgrade. It failed a couple of hours later. A few hours after that, the app showed me that the upgrade was available and it completed in about 50 minutes.

Aside from that, people should be aware that the upgrade wipes out a lot of information. Before you do it, check your navigation history to see if there are any addresses that you might need, because they will get wiped out. If they are in your phone's address book, then you'll be safe, but will have to remember to send them to the car the first time you use each one. For any that you haven't saved, you'll need to make note of it. Make sure that you have a remote control for your garage door or gate or anything else, because they will get removed too.

When I picked the car up, I had to reenter my credentials as the primary driver. I had to give the system my home and work address. I had to add Bluetooth for my phone. I also had to add it for the mobile key. The latter failed time and time again. Finally, I went to my list of paired devices on the phone, removed anything Lucid and then tried again. Then it worked. I had to add my PIN because it was gone. The Guest PIN may or may not have been there, so I set one anyway. It had to relearn my face. I readjusted the steering wheel to be lower than I had been using it, to the point that it obscures the title when Dream Drive is on, had it learn my face, and Dream Drive worked smoothly without complaining that it didn't recognize my face. I had already adjusted my seat, but did it with the levers on the side of the seat. I should have used the center screen and pressed "save to profile" because when I got home, it moved the seat back to let me out, and didn't return it the next time I got in. Easy entry needed to be reset, which I had done before that, and would have been better off holding off on. You will need to go through all the Dream Drive options one by one, because they may not be set the way you expected. You might want to go through all options, because I can't be sure whether I missed any. Android Auto decided on its own to have me do something to set things up, and that was straightforward. Then I had to add my garage door back to Homelink. Now I have to go to other locations that were tied to Homelink, and add them back over time. Plus, I need to explain to my wife that it needs to have a profile for her, learn her face, pair to her phone, etc. Then she'll say "what upgrade? Why?"

The car did save the trip odometers and WiFi from before.

It would have been nice if the service department had mentioned these things. Fortunately, I can still remember my address.

I mentioned this too. It’s a new process; they’ll get there.

Funny enough, they do mention it for replacements (as in, a broken CCC) but that info didn’t get put into the “upgrades” doc apparently lol.

Just got mine updated about 15 minutes ago. I was already on 2.8.0. The mobile service guy was well aware of the process, he retrofit new CCCv2 after taking out the original one. The CCCv2 is shipped with software version 1.1.x so he had to update it to 2.8.0 after installation. The rest of the software of the car also goes to older version and requires fresh OS update again to 2.8.0. He had no issues on my AGT 2022 model.

I had to reestablish my profile from scratch and go through every thing as if it was a fresh car. From start to finish, the mobile service took about 3+ hrs to finish the upgrade.

It makes sense for a broken CCC, which in theory might not allow them to back up the data and restore it. But they aren't doing that. If they could, I assume that they would, but it seems strange that they can't. I would expect diagnostic computers to be able to see settings and data, which would mean being able to save it if they wrote the code for it.

I upgraded to CCCv2 on Monday with 2.8.0 pushed after installation. Had to uninstall app, reinstall, unpair-repair, relink fobs, mobile keys, etc with many failed attempts. Then discovered Homelink needed re-pairing, but couldn't find my remote. A new remote and several failed attempts later, finally paired. I haven't seen any improvement in functionality, infotainment system (still need to re-login to TIDAL), except for DDPro: hands-free was good. The only other issue I noted was the screen backgrounds which had been pitch black are now more greyish - not a fan, maybe my cataracts? Don't know if the background color can be changed? I'm hopeful upgrade will give access to future OTAs (tied to DDPro?).

I couldn't remember what I had the ambient lighting set to prior to the install, and I wasn't sure when I got it back whether it was the same. I'd suggest going through the themes setting to see whether it's set to what you want. Whether or not the screen backgrounds actually changed, it's your best bet.

I had the same issue with a remote control. When I first got the car, I took the one off the side of my garage doorway, which needed a code to be punched in to use it. That was a pain. So I bought one to make it easier. I'd suggest keeping it in the cabinet above the washing machine, so if you ever forget, you can search this thread for "where did I put my garage door remote control."

I got the upgrade today on my 23 Pure in my driveway in Tucson. It was business as usual for the service guy, Ryan, and the install went well. The software download took over 90 minutes and then it took 3 tries to log into the Lucid web site in the car to sync my ID. Ryan watched as I typed the exact same password 3 times before it accepted it, as if the server somewhere finally woke up and asked, "you talking to me?" After the first software install there was a second and the same thing happened again. 3 times to recognize the password. All done and I immediately tested the software and it is near instantaneous response, Hurrah!

Anyone else having an issue where the facial recognition fails when setting up your profile again after the CPU upgrade?
Me! Car is still at the service center, just heard today that the face recognition camera failed so I'm getting a new unit...2.8 installation has failed 5 times...no idea yet if the CCV2 chip is installed or not ..car been with SC 2 weeks now..next week will be 3rd week

I got the CPU upgrade after the car was already on 2.8. Mobile service had no problem installing it. I think it required some of the updates to be downloaded into the car again. And definitely requires you to redo all your settings - seats, mirrors, music, fob and mobile key. E

Picked mine up this afternoon. Did have to do a lot of reprogramming including the Homelink for the garage door. But this time Homelink was fairly easy to install. Also had to reinitialize Tidal. To be honest I don't see any difference in the speed of the panels or cameras but I haven't driven it too much except home from Millbrae and then another 25 miles or so this evening. The Hands Free is working great and so far no more phantom braking (fingers crossed). I've got a 50 mile trip tomorrow so we'll see how that goes.

This was my experience exactly.

Echoing everyone else's experience. The touch responsiveness is significantly better - hence to me the upgrade was worth it - but it's not like the old CCC was unusable. The service advisor made absolutely 110% sure I knew there would be no functionality difference before proceeding. Had re-setup everything but that only took a few minutes.

Mobile tech came yesterday and my 2022 got the CCCv2 upgrade without issues even though I already had 2.8.0 installed. Install time was about 2 hours as others have said, however at least 3 OTA software updates were needed so the mobile tech was at my house for over 5 hours. So plan accordingly.

Your car will be connected via network cable to the equipment (PC?) in the van, the glovebox removed and the lower dash on the passenger side will be disassembled. Be prepared to re-initiate everything as if it were a new car including homelink.

In addition to the snappy performance, I’ve so far observed that more songs from my extensive Tidal playlist are available in mixed mode now. Might be from increased storage? It still did not fix the issue where Tidal loses the last song I played and I have to restart my playlist and then select MIX each time.

Picked up my air after the upgrade and to me it was worth it. It's like the iPhone upgrade now. The old one worked fine, and the new one still looks like the old one, but everything just runs smoother. Makes the car feel like it's not dated anymore. Very much an experience thing v.s. a pure functionality thing. Though the old CCC was pretty laggy rendering the DDP models and side videos.

Also got to use 2.8 on the drive back since that was upgraded at the same time. Most annoying thing was needing to reset my seat /wheels so the face sensor would work reliably, but the drive back on 280 was awesome. Finally feel like the DDPro purchase meets my expectations.
