Gravity Bugs / Issues

So the tech just left and he was unable to fix the frunk opening issue. Apparently the locking mechanism is the problem and they have to take it in to the shop. I asked them to not do so until they had the replacement part in hand, as I don't want to be paying for a vehicle that is sitting in storage waiting on a part. So we'll see. The double open attempt is annoying, but I can definitely live with it while they await parts.
This vehicle being so new tho, this was the tech (out of Atlanta) first time working on one, other than PDI inspections. It's going to take some time for them all to get up to speed on these, so I know patience is required and I'm good. When I bought my Taycan in 2019, I knew more about the car than anyone at the dealer at the time I bought it, so I've been thru this before. It'll get better.

This kind of malfunction preceded the total failure of the frunk mechanism on our Lucid Air more than once. And on one of those occasions, the frunk would neither open fully nor re-engage the locks when I tried to close it. That episode caused the car to go into "limp mode", essentially making it undriveable. I had to call someone to take me home, and the car had to be towed to a service center across the state.

I would strongly advise closing the frunk lid and not trying to operate it again until the car is in Lucid's hands.

Yeah I’m on my 3rd set of frunk latches. One time I almost had to go into limp mode but my 6th or 8th forcible close attempt got it to recognize the closed frunk was in fact closed. The 3rd set of latches/mechanism seems to have fixed it. I did get a false frunk open alert after the 2.8.0 OTA as did some others but it went away after opening and re-closing the frunk and never came back and that seemed to fix it for others as well.

Wow, fascinating. I exclusively see it if I’m at a *high* height, and it shows up at the top center.
That's very interesting that your Gravity has the reflection from the opposite direction.

That was my fear and indeed my plan. Thanks!

My issues so far:
  • Key card not recognized.
  • Schedule charging not working.
  • Back seats slightly overlapping each other preventing one side to lay flat.
  • When I'm on the phone, the person on the other end can barley hear me.
  • Home link activates at times that are not expected (known issue).

Weird experience: I was able to start the car with no key fob and no key card.

Okay, I have seen the light

We have no ghost, because we don’t have a defect in ours. But I have figured out when this blue oval thing happens, for us - it only exists in certain lighting conditions (yesterday around 5pm) and the reason I never see it is… my seating position is as low in the Gravity as it can get.

Because I’m so used to low cars, I don’t like riding up high feeling like I’m driving an 18-wheeler, so I always have my seating position set as low in the car as it can go, usually, for my own comfort.

But if I raise my seat? Boom, blue oval reflection at certain times of day.

So for those who have this… try lowering your seat? I’m not suggesting it’s a permanent fix, but that’s why I haven’t seen it. I have no desire to raise my seat now that I have seen it, though. :)
Also on lowest seat height for me and I see the reflection. I'm 5'11", your own height will probably play into this as well.

Start, or drive? If you open with the app, you can use all the infotainment features, you just can't switch into "gear".

In our Gravity the blue oval can be seen from all over the car -- in any driver seat position, from the passenger seat, and from either side of the second row. The white ghosts are most often seen from the driver's seat, but that blue oval cannot be avoided.

Both these photos were taken from the front passenger seat:

Can anyone explain how this piece on the gravity trunk is supposed to be secured?
It has become detached several times

Took delivery today and have been following this threader a while. I have some minor bugs/questions (for now) and would love people's thoughts. Thankfully nothing like what many folks have posted (yet), and I hope it stays that way - but some strange things.

First, I must say, my SA gave me the fob and the cards and immediately said "I would trust the fob right now, just use the cards. Lucid knows it's an issue and they're super focused on it." The other thing my SA said was "I'm glad you've been an early adopted on other EVs. The software will only get better, but right now, you'll probably get some weird error that's not an error every time you drive it". Okay, appreciate the honesty.

Of course, we got in the car and it immediately said the fob wasn't there and we should "shake to wake". That happened 4-5 times today - but it quickly went away and recognized the fob after a few seconds.

1) Bings and sounds - while there's no visible alert, there are random notification-like sounds the car makes when driving. Not consistent when they happen or what they are. Makes me look all around and then just keep going. Doesn't seem to be a real issue, but it's weird when warning sounds go off intermittently.

2) Ambient Lights - I have a GGT, are there supposed to be ambient lights on the doors and up to the dash? The only light is the one down the center of the windshield, and then the ones where your feet go, etc. Can't seem to get the others to turn on...I think they're supposed to work even though I don't have Tech Package. Also, SA mentioned they're supposed to change with sanctuary mode on, but they don't - that could be dynamic lighting I don't have. Anyone know?

2a) Sanctuary - I have only the ocean and then three meditations. Is that what others have? I feel like someone posted a video with something else and I know I've seen Joshua Tree in demos. I don't particularly care and expect more will come but curious.

3) Time - Yes, my time is exactly three minutes faster on the car than my fine. No idea why. My SA had never seen this and was amused. I was as well. Not sure what's causing it and seems to have no real effect, but it's weird.

2) Frunk - the fixed this, but for those who have the "my frunk doesn't open with first open, but then opens when I try again" - this happened to me at delivery. The "fix" by the main Gravity service guy was hilarious - he literally took a Dremel and just made the latch opening in the plastic trim a little bigger and it works perfectly.

4) Rear Steer - Immediately upon sitting in the car and pressing the brake, I got the rear steer not working alarm. I restarted with SA, and it came on again, but went away. Hopefully, it stays away.

5) USB - Randomly got a "USB Charing not working, call service" error for about five seconds in the middle of my 200 mile trip home - but it went away and my phone was actually charging when it came on.

Hmmm...Will need to look at my car to see. My immediate response was "with glue" but that's not helpful... :)

I’m 5’9”. If I move my head up two inches I can see it.

Oh I misunderstood. So now your fob works and you can drive the car now that you’ve got 3.2.2. I thought neither that nor keycard works. Ok this is a relief then that 3.2.2 does seem to fix the fob problem, and the keycard thing seems to be a different problem.
Well actually yeah the keycard didn’t work either so that is working now as well after that fix. I actually didn’t try the keycards at all since taking delivery so I wasn’t sure that they ever worked.

But the technician did tell me about the middle console issue where the wires apparently are not positioned well and so that apparently stops the sensor from working if you move the middle console up. They have a fix coming from the factory for that which will require a new middle console.

Most of these are speed alerts, and the speed limit will pulse or change color at the same time. I found these incredibly annoying and turned them all off.

I think the doors are supposed to have accent lights in the GGT. They are hard to see during the daytime. You also may need to turn them on/up -- look for "Lucid Vibes" under settings? There also may be software issues with the ambient lighting currently.

Yeah, most of the demos aren't currently shipping, which seems odd but I guess enabling one every few months is something you can release-note.

Does anyone NOT have this? I assume that they're running their own NTP server and its fast -- or, as I suggested before, someone at Lucid is always late for meetings and made this global across all the Gravity. 🤣

I have not had this, but reports from the forums are that this is a consistent Lucid latch issue.

That's one of the "weird errors that's not an error" -- you might get these about the headlights, tail lights, etc too. My theory is that this is related to the key system issue too, and there's some sort of communications protocol bug on the CAN bus. (I could also be completely wrong.) These happen for us but are pretty rare and have not affected actual functionality.
5) USB - Randomly got a "USB Charing not working, call service" error for about five seconds in the middle of my 200 mile trip home - but it went away and my phone was actually charging when it came on.
This is also a very common "weird error". I think it's either related to the above, or when your phone slides forward and is no longer charging.

You'll also find it's impossible to permanently dismiss alerts (like the "software updated" alert) from the left side of the main display. Lucid sure does like their alerts and warnings!

Took me a little while to figure this out. Disable speed limit change alerts. Every time it detects a new speed limit sign (diff then current one), it makes a sound.

So maybe they can replace our center console when they remove the dashboard to replace the HUD, remove the ACU to make the navigation system work, and remove the backseat to fix the noise issue.

Maybe Lucid should just be shipping body shells on chassis right now and send owners additional components as they become ready. That way, they could transfer some workers from the production line to the service shops to handle the workloads there.

My ambient lights are definitely buggy/not working because I did try it when it was dark and I messed with the brightness, etc.

I thought I turned the speed limit chimes off at delivery, but will check again.

Super helpful responses. Thank you!

You may have. But some of these software features are turning themselves off and on spontaneously. It's happened in our car with the ride height adjustment in the easy entry/exit menu, with C/F temperature readouts, with exceeding speed limit alerts, with lane keeping intervention, with drowsy driver alerts, with the dashboard accent light strip, with turn signal canceling . . . .

And it doesn't always happen during startup or shutdown. Sometimes it happens while driving down the road, so it's not really something you can check the menus for before you start driving.

None of this has rendered the car undriveable, but it's a new ride almost every day.

The only reason this is not freaking me totally out is that it's so similar to the first 10 months of our Air Dream while it was still on UX 1.0 -- and things were eventually sorted out, beginning with UX 2.0 in October 2022. But, for all the hype about UX 3.0 being a new day with Lucid software, it's just UX 1.0 all over again it seems, except with a bunch of new features to go haywire.

One other buggy thing - the massage turns itself “off” on the driver side randomly. If I then mess with it and turn it on and then off, it seems to restart fine. Is it supposed to auto shut off after some time period?

I’m going to check the settings to see if it turned itself back on or if the alerts are just back on but still turned off - if that makes sense.
