So the tech just left and he was unable to fix the frunk opening issue. Apparently the locking mechanism is the problem and they have to take it in to the shop. I asked them to not do so until they had the replacement part in hand, as I don't want to be paying for a vehicle that is sitting in storage waiting on a part. So we'll see. The double open attempt is annoying, but I can definitely live with it while they await parts.
This vehicle being so new tho, this was the tech (out of Atlanta) first time working on one, other than PDI inspections. It's going to take some time for them all to get up to speed on these, so I know patience is required and I'm good. When I bought my Taycan in 2019, I knew more about the car than anyone at the dealer at the time I bought it, so I've been thru this before. It'll get better.
This kind of malfunction preceded the total failure of the frunk mechanism on our Lucid Air more than once. And on one of those occasions, the frunk would neither open fully nor re-engage the locks when I tried to close it. That episode caused the car to go into "limp mode", essentially making it undriveable. I had to call someone to take me home, and the car had to be towed to a service center across the state.
I would strongly advise closing the frunk lid and not trying to operate it again until the car is in Lucid's hands.
