Tesla supercharging working today?

That makes sense.

I was not saying going through Lucid is what everyone wants. It seemed to me that everyone was trying to find out how this works at all. I was wondering if what Lucid's website say (plug-it-in-and-charge-through-lucid-charging-service) is not true. Based on @DeaneG 's (and others') earlier comments, it looks like that is not true at the moment.
It's my understanding that plug n charge through Lucid isn't available yet. Initiating a charge through Lucid's app should work, though it didn't for me the single time I tried it. Tesla's app worked.

Lucid is experiencing an issue currently with many customers getting a charge initiated through the Lucid app. If at a Supercharger, the only method currently is to activate a charge through the Tesla App.

Good to know, thanks

Yes, in theory, the instructions I posted above will work with either the Lucid or Tesla app at some point in the future.

I still haven't tested it. I got the adapter, but I need to wait for Lucid to give me my car back after the upgrade for CCCv2. Millbrae says it will take a few hours but when you show up for an appointment, they say that it will take several days before they get to those few hours. In the meantime, I have an ICEV loaner because they said they were out of Lucids. That wasn't quite true because they had the keys for a Gravity loaner on the desk, that they are saving for some guy named John Lasseter.

Sorry for redundant post with other thread -- I just tried it tonight here in Seattle and it all just worked super-smoothly. Plugged Lucid's adapter into Tesla's cable, then into car, then the app asked me to confirm which stall I was in, then boom, charging, 48kW (from ~59% up to 66%.) <$4. Happy to have it in the contingency plans repertoire.

That's great. I think they fixed something because I randomly got my charging service restored.

I’m seeing a lot of v 3.5 in the posted pics. Anyone have any issues with the shorter cables on v 3.0?
Yes, you have to look for two or three open stalls at the end of a row, and park parallel to them. Best done when few other cars are around.

Please note from the "Charging your Lucid Air" Knowledge Center article that Lucid recommends only using Lucid-approved adapters, which are certified and thoroughly tested for safety and compatibility. Lucid adapters have built-in safety features to ensure they operate correctly and protect against electrical hazards. Third-party adapters may not have been tested to the same standards, and using them may lead to charging issues or potentially even damage your Lucid Air’s charging system.

Then Lucid needs to make a NACS to J1772 adaptor for the Tesla destination chargers. We are all using TeslaTaps or other 3rd party adaptors for the L2 charging.

We received our Lucid adapter for Air Supercharging a couple of days ago and took a ride to the Tesla Superchargers on I-75 (Alligator Alley) at about the midpoint between Miami and Naples as you cross the state through the Everglades.

Plug-and-charge was not working, and the charge wouldn't initiate through the Lucid app, which said another step was needed but didn't provide it. Fortunately, I had seen this issue mentioned on this forum, so I had updated my old Tesla account with new credit card information before leaving home. The charge initiated cleanly through the Tesla app. We got charging speeds ranging from 41 to 37 kW in charging from 61% to 79%.

However, we got lucky. Eleven of the twelve charging posts were in use. The only one that was free (with a cracked and scraped up cabinet that had apparently been sideswiped by a car) was at the end of a row and placed near the front of the parking space instead of the rear. There was one other like that in the opposite row of chargers, but it was occupied by a Tesla. We were able to get the short charge cable to work using that post. But given how crowded the Superchargers were and the Teslas that were lining up, we would have had no luck waiting for two adjacent spaces to open up so that we could position the Air for a cable to reach.

Lessons learned in order to be sure you Air can charge at a Supercharger:

1. Be sure the location is identified by Tesla as a "NACS Partner" location
2. Have an account on the Tesla app with a credit card on file
3. Be sure the physical layout and/or traffic levels at the location will allow a charge cable to reach the Air charge port

P. S.:

The Air navigation system is not yet updated to include information about Tesla Superchargers, so you'll need the Tesla app to find them. But that can be tricky. The Tesla app showed this particular location as being on State Road 834. When I put that address into the Lucid navigation system and then into my phone navigation system, I got a lot of false directions to different parts of the state. The one that was closest showed it to be 40.3 miles from our house in the opposite direction, but I knew this station well as it's our usual pit stop on cross-state drives, and I knew it was just over 60 miles from our house. It turned out it is actually on State Road 833, not 834 as the Tesla website said.

Another point of confusion:

When I updated my old Tesla account it asked me to identify the make, model, and year of the car I would be charging (no VIN requested). I put in the Air information. I then opened the link to set up a monthly subscription in order to get the lower charge fees, as we intend to use Superchargers as our default charge choice once we start roadtripping in the Gravity (which charges like blue blazes at Superchargers). It means forgoing the plug-and-charge feature (at least for now) that works seamlessly with the Gravity, but the fee discount is significant enough to make it worth the bother.

However, there was no way to identify the Gravity along with the Air on the Tesla account. And, this being Tesla, there is no easy way to inquire if it can be done. Since the app didn't ask for the Air VIN, I assume a charge certificate for the Air is already on file with Tesla (if such is even required) as is the Gravity certificate. But I don't know whether I can use the Tesla app to access the discount when charging the Gravity. And this is going to get even more complicated when our second Gravity arrives.

Does any here know how to get the discount for multiple cars with the Tesla app?

Weird, Gravity is listed.

With a subscription to Tesla's charging plan, I'd try:

Pull up the the stall
Initiate charging for that stall on the Tesla phone app
Plug in the car

I currently have my Air GT, a Volvo XC40 EV, and a Gravity set up on Tesla's phone app - even though I have no Gravity. I suspect all of this is so that Tesla's app can show only compatible charging stations.

Weird, Gravity is listed.

Yep, found it and was able to add the Gravity. Thanks.

Any word on when Lucid will integrate the Tesla monthly subscription plan into their plug-and-charge feature?

BTW, the charge fee per kWh for today's session using the discount was $0.32 vs. $0.44 without the subscription.

No idea, but probably around the same time they integrate the EA subscription - which is to say, that's a whole feature they haven't built yet.

What if you could experiment to see whether you can use your Air as if it's a Gravity since there is no VIN needed?

Tesla's infrastructure knows what type of vehicle is connected.

I did in a way. I first just plugged in to see if plug-and-charge would initiate as it does in the Gravity. It doesn't.

I then tried to initiate through the Lucid app, which works to initiate Gravity charging if plug-and-charge hiccoughs. It wouldn't.

So clearly both the Tesla and Lucid systems see the Air as something different from a Gravity.

Works. Order of operations matter and had to use the Tesla app. Nice to have in a pinch on a road trip.

We took a mini road trip today (~250 miles RT) to try a couple more charging stations with the Gravity. Our seamless experience with Tesla Supercharging of the Gravity continued. This time we used the Tesla app to initiate the charging instead of plug-and-charge in order to verify that we would get the fee discount with our monthly subscription plan ($12.99 with up to 5 charges per day allowed). We did, indeed, get the discount, and using the Tesla app only took a few moments longer . . . well worth the subscription cost for even a moderate amount of road tripping.

We also thought we'd try Electrify America for the first time with the Gravity, hoping that our long history of aggravation with EA would not repeat. No such luck.

We went to the EA chargers at The Mall at UTC, a huge shopping/dining complex in Sarasota, FL right off I-75. We have used those chargers before, always with the usual mixed result from EA: half the chargers malfunctioning and cars queued up for the few that were working.

The site was not operating. They had installed new chargers . . . and all at once instead of phasing them in to keep the site at least partially operational. In fact, the installers had just left the cable plugs lying on the pavement where they could get rained on and/or run over. I guess this is meant to continue the tradition of having half the EA chargers at a location out of service. Also, they were all CCS plugs, with no NACS plugs available -- something I thought EA was going to introduce with new charging installations. In short, it was the usual EA shit show.

BTW . . . the Gravity Dream Edition is a road tripping beast: prodigiously powerful at higher speeds, firmly planted, immensely quiet and comfortable.
