I kept getting the drive monitoring warning even though the steering wheel was not apparently in the way. I fiddled with sunglasses, cap etc. Then I shifted the steering wheel down slightly and voila the warning went away and hasn't returned. It didn't look like the steering wheel was anywhere close to being a problem, but it was the culprit. I was quite surprised.
The Air's face camera is a separate device mounted below the bottom of the driver's display, and is easily blocked by the steering column with a typical steering wheel position.

Not me. They are there and are disconcerting. It is interesting that different people have different experiences with the last OTA for DreamDrive.
I’m sure it comes down to calibration. If you experiencing this then maybe give service a call.

2 hrs to update--that seems substantial. Is this a typical amount of time for an OTA?
That's longer than usual, and I'm not sure what goes into determining the length. It it were simply a matter of replacing an old release with a new one, they'd all take a long time. My app is showing the same two hours to upgrade from 1.1.4. But it's not necessarily accurate.

My update didn’t go well. Drive assist on but lane keep assist won’t engage. Never had this peoblem

My update took a little over 2 hours. The first hour went up to 9 percent. Very slow up to about 13 percent then speeds up quickly.

2.8 relies heavily on monitoring the driver. I had sunglasses and a hat on (which may be a factor) and I was told driver monitoring was not available and some sensors were blocked. As far as I can tell no sensors are blocked. The interesting thing to me is that even after stopping, doing a hardware logo reset and starting again, Hands Free was not available as an option after it failed the first time.
Perhaps I have an issue with the driver monitoring, which has always turned on and off at random times, suggesting I need to move the steering wheel when nothing has changed.
Move your steering wheel down. The camera cannot see your face. The camera is mounted at the bottom of the screen. Even if you think it can see your face, do a test drive with the steering wheel much lower, just to test it. If it works, you need to lower your steering wheel so the camera can see your face.

I wish I can experience the Handsfree Drive Assist after the update by taking my car to work this morning. But apparently, the 101 frwy is not designated to work with Handsfree yet…I kept getting the “put ur hands on the wheel”warning. For those who don’t know 101 frwy in Los Angeles…it’s a pretty major frwy so I’m just surprised the Handsfree did not work.
Works fine on 101. I've used it both today and yesterday. Lower your steering wheel so the camera can see your face.

That is indeed odd, and I see on your screen you've already called CC haha. Good luck. I haven't seen that one before. It looks like you've temporarily disengaged it. I'm assuming hitting the up toggle on the left scroll wheel doesn't help?

Didnt help. Worked fine before 2.8. Hoping hard reset did the trick and will work tomorrow.

Mine ended up failing with a message saying that there's nothing I could do about it. Later that evening, it showed that I was in 1.1.4 and that the update was available. 54 minutes later, it was done. I have no idea what to read into it.

I downloaded 2.8.0 and gave it a spin this morning on I-400 and I-285 in the Atlanta Metro area—it worked like a charm. I especially appreciated not getting the annoying "Keep Hands on Wheel" notification every 30 seconds. It did freak out once on 285 surrounded by 18-wheelers (not blaming HFDS—285 at 6 a.m. is basically a truck magnet).

I was amazed at how well the car handled the ride. Lane changes were much smoother, and lane keeping felt seamless—great improvement.

Very nice feature—well done, Lucid team! 👏👏

Now that geofencing has been introduced for charging limits in this version, I’m hopeful we'll see more long-awaited geofencing features roll out soon. 🤞

I did hands free on I-285 and I-85 South this morning in Atlanta too!
The one time it went back to regular Drive Assist was the curve/merge at the 17th/14th/10th street exit.
I was in the HOV lane so it’s confusing spot with the I-75 HOV lanes merging so I can understand why.
It’s otherwise brilliant. Makes the morning traffic slog so much easier.

I don't envy you having to drive on I-85 and 285 to Midtown... HFDA is definitely a lifesaver..

I installed the update last night and haven't had a chance to try the handsfree yet, but I do like the option to set the charging amperage. I usually charge at 40A and like to occasionally charge at 80A. Now I can do it without opening up my Lucid charger and resetting the DIP switches.

First impression was good. It would be great if the navigation could show you which highways have hands free drive assist option. After update, I thought there was something I had to do to engage hands free drive assist. Odd that hands on drive assist is available, but hands free is not available on the same highway.

Since Lucid navigation is not developed in-house, I doubt that you will ever see DreamDrive enabled roads highlighted on the map. I think it would be a fairly big ask.

There is a Hands Free toggle in the DreamDrive settings that you have to engage.

I may be incorrect, but it seems to me that there would not be highways where Drive Assist works, but Hands Free does not.

I find that when I lower the steering wheel for hands free that the steering wheel blocks my view of the dashboard, esp viewing the blind spot cameras, suggestions? All in all, a nice step in the right direction.

Not odd; that’s how it’s designed. Especially for on and off ramps, merge lanes, etc. For now, where HFDA activates is very controlled.

But it’s most parts of most highways.
