2.8.0 Feedback Only!

Wow!!

I'm so impressed with the 2.8 update. The app wakes up the car much much faster. The handsfree drive assist exceeded my expectations on my morning commute of 45 mins. It stayed well centered, and the episodes of phantom braking I previously experienced ( approaching overpasses or next to semis) is completely gone.

It decelerated very smoothly/naturally, when I changed the speed near an area with a lane closure.

At a construction zone, it deactivated the handsfree DA, and smoothly transitions to hands-on DA.

Overall, initial impressions are very positive and confidence inspiring!

I REALLY love my Lucid AT, and the love grows with each update!

I installed the update this morning and immediately went for a drive to test it out. I was truly amazed at how smooth and precise the steering was on the freeway. I previously used the original drive assist whenever it was available, but it never seemed to be great at smoothly staying in my lane without tiny corrections, and it sometimes got confused by exit ramps. The new hands free was flawless on a 15-mile test drive on a freeway with multiple curves and turns. Not once did it show any signs of confusion; I'm sold and extremely happy with the update. I don't know that this has been mentioned but the 'Drive Assist' banner at the top of the screen changes to 'Hands-Free Drive Assist' whenever the system is active.
Question: early posts on this update included a change to the Frunk struts that would eliminate the abrupt nature of this closure. My update to 2.8.0 did not have any update for the Frunk. Did this get dropped in the rollout?

My installation failed. First time it happened. That too when the car is in service.

How do you know it didn’t have an update for the frunk? It was installed as one package. You may just not be noticing the change.

Also, worth noting that the icon changes too for HFDA. I can’t see the top bar because of my seat/wheel position, but I don’t need to because I can see the hands around the steering wheel icon.

Ok, I must say I am very impressed by the hands free driving of 2.8.0!
Gone are the confidence sapping "nibbles" navigating curves and it feels very solid and locked in.
Well done Lucid team! It was worth the wait!

Now...can we please not have CarPlay take over my Tidal music? It's super annoying to have to reselect everything every single time I drive the car.

Pause tidal before you get out. You may find it resumes when you get back in. (Yes, it’s a workaround, I agree they should fix it)

I do. But my workaround is I have to jump in and unpause BEFORE CarPlay connects. Then it works but if I'm a few seconds too late, it shows the CarPlay icon in the display with a blank song. Super annoying.

My summary that showed up after the install only had three items; the fourth item, the frunk update, was not included in the list of items in the update

I love the new Jazz Hands indicator for HFDA! Lol.

Ahhhh I see, you’re saying they took it out of the release notes. Got it.

Same here.

2.8 relies heavily on monitoring the driver. I had sunglasses and a hat on (which may be a factor) and I was told driver monitoring was not available and some sensors were blocked. As far as I can tell no sensors are blocked. The interesting thing to me is that even after stopping, doing a hardware logo reset and starting again, Hands Free was not available as an option after it failed the first time.
Perhaps I have an issue with the driver monitoring, which has always turned on and off at random times, suggesting I need to move the steering wheel when nothing has changed.

Tried the update briefly on the LIE. I stayed in the right lane to get the feel of it and it behaved fine with one caveat that I don’t believe was the system’s fault. The area I was in is under repair at night and the right lane markings were intermittent. So although I never got a disconnect or nag, there was a bit of lane wandering as the car looked for the lane markings.

The other thing I noticed, which I hope was coincidental, the internet signal was in & out worse than what’s typical.

I kept getting the drive monitoring warning even though the steering wheel was not apparently in the way. I fiddled with sunglasses, cap etc. Then I shifted the steering wheel down slightly and voila the warning went away and hasn't returned. It didn't look like the steering wheel was anywhere close to being a problem, but it was the culprit. I was quite surprised.

I wish I can experience the Handsfree Drive Assist after the update by taking my car to work this morning. But apparently, the 101 frwy is not designated to work with Handsfree yet…I kept getting the “put ur hands on the wheel”warning. For those who don’t know 101 frwy in Los Angeles…it’s a pretty major frwy so I’m just surprised the Handsfree did not work.

It may not be relevant, but I found the nibbles went away a while ago, pre HFDA.
Not me. They are there and are disconcerting. It is interesting that different people have different experiences with the last OTA for DreamDrive.
