I may be incorrect, but it seems to me that there would not be highways where Drive Assist works, but Hands Free does not.
There are. Also parts of highways like merges, express lanes that take you off the marked highway, etc.

I find that when I lower the steering wheel for hands free that the steering wheel blocks my view of the dashboard, esp viewing the blind spot cameras, suggestions? All in all, a nice step in the right direction.
Sadly, this is all about seat position, height, etc. You don’t need to see the top bar because you can see the hands around the icon, but I don’t have issues seeing the blind spots.

I’ve suggested they have two steering wheel positions; one for “let me drive” and one for “drive me”

Seeing reports on Reddit and Facebook of a number of folks vehicles being bricked by this update. Seems the update fails halfway through. According to those threads Lucid is aware of it and there are a number of vehicles already in service related to this.

Weirdly, my AT that only has DD Premium updated in about 60min vs the 2 hrs for others. Perhaps that's related to not having DD Pro. I did see at the end of the update the app reporting a red battery warning even though the actual reported battery was 80%. After a few minutes that disappeared and all was well. Drove it today and everything is ok, although other than the AC charging there wasn't really anything for me.

yes there are spots where its still only Drive Assist.

I tested it for the first time today. I drive hands free on the highway the entire way to work. switched lanes like five times hands free. it all worked great! I love this update.

one part of the highway, when exiting, it took hands free off and it just showed Drive Assist. It does still try to exit the highway when the lane closest to the exit widens. they need to work on that. Overall, it was better than before, especially the land change.

PS. my app also showed red battery on the car at 40% soc. it did clear up. so not sure what that was about.

I also had the 0% red battery warning just after the update for a minute when my car was at 70%. I think it's normal after this update.

I get the second sentence of your response, but the first part reads as though there are some highways in which, in their entirety (or at least over a long stretch), Drive Assist exists without Hands Free available. Do I have that right?

Ahhhh I see, you’re saying they took it out of the release notes. Got it.

Same here.
I haven't seen anyone else comment about the Frunk update. Did this actually happen as part of 2.8.0? I don't notice any change on my car.

drove it today .. excellent!! When hands-free was going to end as I was moving to a new segment of road without it, it gave me plenty of warning. Lane change assist is much more like I would change lanes, so great. And when I was close to the end of the hands-free segment and tried lane change assist, it told me it could not as it was coming to the end of a marked area. Overall it's really excellent. Can't say that enough.

I think it was pulled last minute and thus was not included in the notes. Hopefully they resolve whatever caused it to be pulled and release it in the not too distant future. I was looking forward to this as well, I am confident but not overly so in the frunk latch / operation.

The first thing that I discovered as I got to know the Lucid Air, was that I had to work with both the seat and steering wheel to get the best of all options relative to dash board, front and rear view, and facial detection working in the best arrangement allowed. The first step was to get the seat height, et al, set to give the best rear view I could, then I adjust the steering wheel to get the best dashboard view that I could. It took a lot of adjustment to get it dialed in

That’s my understanding.

took me about 3 weeks of little adjustments every day as I drove to get the seat dialed in (14 way seats). there are a lot of variables for sure! when I started with the default position, the whole car felt light an oversized shirt. now it fits very well. Reaching the upper display adds to the distances that need to be fit / considered, so arm length to steering wheel isn't the only place where arm length comes into play (so trade-offs between reaching the screen and the wheel). I also played with the seat height a bit as well. it takes time as there are a lot of adjustments but it's worth the effort.

Anyone experiencing this?

With prior versions of Drive Assist, my 2025 AGT will often hesitate / slow down suddenly under two conditions:

1. Driving towards and overpass, that casts a shadow on the road, on the side I’m approaching.

2. When there’s a car or truck to my right, that I’m approaching; and the sun is casting a shadow into my lane.

With Hands Free Drive Assist, these problems don’t occur. The experience is much smoother. They still occur with Drive Assist. It’s as if the car is running different image recognition software under the same 2.8.0 software.

After 2.8.0 update - Yesterday evening 6pm to 8pm
After the update cruise/highway assist/hands free would not turn on at all. After several tries I noticed that "Distracted Driver" and "Drowsy Driver" detection were off. So I turned them on assuming that they may be the root cause. I don't remember turning them off.

After today's ride -
After turning above 2 settings, today on the highway finally I was able to turn on "hand free", but within a mile it turned itself off. And asked me to take control at very high speed around 70mph. Error said - "unable to detect lanes" I have driven on that same highway at same spot with "highway assist" several times before.

With those issues, reached my destination and parked my car, didn't turn it off as I was waiting for someone. While coming back cameras turned off no signal/indicator cameras, no parking assist cameras etc.. Error said - Parking assist error and asked me to turn off the car. So I did.

After restarting the car Cameras were on everything was good. I was not on highway so I wanted to test adaptive cruise to see it's working. And it was, for 1/2 a mile all of a sudden same thing. Just turned itself off and asked me to take control.

Took it for an errand on local roads about 20 minutes ago, still could not turn on "adaptive cruise".

Perhaps they're actually using lidar now? Might be totally off base her, but thought I saw in the forum a few months back that they weren't even using lidar at the time.

That forum speculation was incorrect, the car has been using lidar all along.
