2.8.0 Feedback Only!

I got the update yesterday (8/7/25). I used it for about 80 miles total yesterday on three different divided highways here in NJ. FABULOUS update!! HFDA was flawless, turns are now smooth as silk and lane change assists were excellent. A flawless upgrade…and an excellent one at that!!

Ha! Is your own expression of discontent complaining embedded therein? Minivans? :-)
I'm butthurt because everyone is talking about the Gravity instead of the Air (which I just purchased). ;)

We just took our Air on a drive along I-75 (Alligator Alley) in Florida to check out the new ADAS features from the 2.8.0 update. The ADAS wouldn't activate at all. I even asked the Lucid Assistant to activate the system, and it said that it could only be activated by the driver.

I called Lucid Customer Care, and they told me to do the X/Mic/Brake reboot, something I've done successfully a few times in our Air and our Gravity. This time the Air wouldn't reboot, despite two tries during which I held the buttons down more than two minutes each time.

I've got another call into Customer Care. Is this yet another update that brings gremlins along for the ride?

Try the logo reset? I don't know, my steering wheel buttons aren't the most reliable.

Don't let minivan owners get under your skin. If you prefer a sedan, the Air can't be beat.

I just got off the phone again with Customer Care. She told me that I was supposed to release the buttons before the screens would go black. I read her the instructions Customer Care had texted me on the first call:

"3. Continue holding [the buttons] for about 30 to 45 seconds, until the screens power down and you hear a chime. [my emphasis]" She said I had been sent incorrect instructions and had me go back to the car where she walked me through the reboot process.

Doing it her way didn't work, either, despite three attempts where she ran a timer to tell me when to release the buttons and pedal. She created a service ticket and told me that a technician would get in touch later today or tomorrow.

I asked whether they were getting a lot of calls about ADAS malfunctions since the 2.8.0 update. She was a bit evasive, saying only that they're getting "some calls about things not working since the update."

I hold the buttons down until I hear a chime. They're still on at that point.

We never heard the chime, no matter whether the buttons were held or released. We did have the Bluetooth pairing prompt pop up when starting the reboot attempts, which she said was a good sign. But things never progressed beyond that.

An update: lowering the steering wheel solved my problems. Sunglasses do not appear to be a factor. Had a few nice drives hands-free, but the one issue was when a car cut right in front of me which happens a lot in Massachusetts. I found the car too slow to react, but it was more on the issue of braking than steering. In two out of two cases I felt I had to intervene. I suppose one solution is to allow the maximum distance between my car and the car in front of me but that will just allow more cars to cut in between.
The other thing about 2.8 is that the car is much more responsive for opening the locks when I approach.

I find that when I lower the steering wheel for hands free that the steering wheel blocks my view of the dashboard, esp viewing the blind spot cameras, suggestions? All in all, a nice step in the right direction.
I had to lower it just enough that it partly obscures the banner above the speed limit number on the display. Having it high enough to read that was a problem for me.
I haven't seen anyone else comment about the Frunk update. Did this actually happen as part of 2.8.0? I don't notice any change on my car.
I opened and closed the Frunk many times after the update, and they all seem a lot smoother to me.
Is your steering wheel positioned low enough that you can see the entire face sensor mounted below the bottom of the driver's display?
Mine was positioned like that before I adjusted it. The former position was low enough that I could see the entire sensor area just fine. My understanding was that it's an eye sensor, not a face sensor, but I could be wrong. It was positioned in a way that it should have been able to see my eyes, but not my face below it. I readjusted it even lower, as mentioned, and now I get warnings only if I look away for a few seconds.

The former position was good enough that it was able to give me a green check mark when I sat with my seat in its normal position, so I still don't understand why I had to move it.

I haven't seen any complaints about the ADAS since this update fwiw, and our car appears to have no gremlins with this update. We did run into the 'unable to reboot' bug once, but a sleep and wakeup fixed it; and it was prior to this update.

Suggestions please. Hands free drive assist works great but I’ve yet to see lane change assist work. Is there a setting that may be off, did I calibrate wrong? Thoughts appreciated.

I’ll echo others’ comments about the great improvement to performance with the release of HFDA.

I was suspicious that it was going to be a case of regular DA simply having the hands-on-wheel requirement relaxed, but the underlying system performance would be the same as 2.7.0 — no, lane-centering is much, much smoother and more natural and the system seems far more polished.
I didn’t have any serious gripes about auto lane changes previously, but even still I must admit that they have improved somehow.

Well done fellas! I genuinely don’t think I have any meaningful complaints about DD Pro any longer.

Go into settings > Dream Drive and make sure that Lane Change Assist is turned on.

After that, while driving in the middle of a multi-lane freeway, watch for dashed lane lines appearing in the driver's display, indicating that an automated lane change is possible. Hold the turn signal stalk down for a few seconds until the "lane change initiated" message shows above the lane display. There is also a setting for whether a short press, or a long press is needed to initiate the lane change.

Hold down the turn signal stalk just like you would if doing a lane change where the signal keeps blinking is the same threshold for initiating Lane Change Assist. The abbreviated press down of the turn signal stalk wont activate the LCA.

Scratch that, actually the abbreviated version works too! Sorry to mislead

Yes, it will. Either detent will work.

Seeing reports on Reddit and Facebook of a number of folks vehicles being bricked by this update. Seems the update fails halfway through. According to those threads Lucid is aware of it and there are a number of vehicles already in service related to this.

Weirdly, my AT that only has DD Premium updated in about 60min vs the 2 hrs for others. Perhaps that's related to not having DD Pro. I did see at the end of the update the app reporting a red battery warning even though the actual reported battery was 80%. After a few minutes that disappeared and all was well. Drove it today and everything is ok, although other than the AC charging there wasn't really anything for me.
Same for me. Being able to set the Amp limit allows me to maximize charging using my solar. I was looking to buy a new charger just so I could limit the power, the update saved me a few hundred dollars
