Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Thanks for the helpful information, please tell me what do you think of this, is it really protect the windshield?
It is from the shop near me:
"Our Stek windshield films can help you protect your windshield from rock chips, minor road debris, and other contaminants which may cause damage. All of our window films come with 99% UV ray rejection as well."

Stek hasn't made dynoFlex for over a year. I would question as to wether or not they are actually installing that or something from ClearShield, GeoShield or Madico. Windshield Protection Film does work but its not for cars that see a ton of daily driver usage. They have some orange peel and can turn purple. If its a weekend and nice weather car, go for it. If you're driving daily, I probably wouldn't. Sounds to me like they are playing fast & loose with the truth.

Can you take a picture of this Easter egg? I can't spot it.
Nope... Keep looking...I mean that in the best possible way... When you discover it.. you'll love it..Hint is to stand outside the car and look in ;)

Hi All -
I joined the forum a few days ago - got very nice welcoming from a bunch of you - thanks for the hospitality. One piece of advice was to read through this thread (Touring specific) . . . which I have started. But at 211 pages, it's going to take me a while (trying not to skim through). Like waking up to a group text that went viral overnight and asking if someone can summarize the 85 posts that occurred wile I was sleeping ! So, wondering if anyone can help advise on a couple of things:
  1. Has everyone made payment in full prior to delivery - i.e. there is no ability to withhold $ until you have seen the car in person ? Like at a traditional franchised dealer where you can see / inspect the car before handing over a cashiers check ?
  2. I live in Pittsburgh - and at this point am planning a home delivery. It's great that LCID offers this, and they must apply the extra cost into their overhead (no extra charge for me). That said, what I have read on the forum, there seems to be an understandable preference to pick the car up in person. I'm debating doing this (Tysons Corner / DC - 4 hrs from Pittsburgh), but would have to fly in - so in terms of "refusing" the vehicle for any issues that might need to be addressed, I would then be stuck in DC and have to book return transportation, and make a second trip. Either way, I feel in a compromised position vs. traditional dealer process.

So any advice (preferably based on actual experiences of either a home delivery, or dealing with the delivery team at Tysons Corner) would be greatly appreciated !

If these points have already been specifically covered in this thread, my apologies.

Thanks in advance

Doug

Doug,

Here is my write-up of my home delivery I had on Valentine's Day. https://lucidowners.com/threads/ordering-and-delivery-lucid-air-touring.2872/post-116773

Recall, I'm in Harrisburg and Tysons is over 2 hours away from me right outside of DC. As such, I elected to get home delivery. In my opinion, it's a free service so take it. I'm not sure what your wheel configuration is but as you know, driving through the four tunnels on the Turnpike back to Pittsburgh is always a challenge and this is under normal weather conditions. Add in the fact that you might enter Allegheny Tunnel on the east side and exit into snow/winter weather on the west side and this is before you factor in Tuscarora Tunnel and her miles and miles of S-Curves around Sidling Hill and Breezewood. While the Air is nimble enough to handle the S-Curves, it's best to do it under optimal road conditions. I did my undergrad at Cal U in California and I drove this route monthly for 4 years as a teen and in my early 20's.

To answer your question about payment, for home delivery you'll need to pay in full before Lucid will deliver the car to your house. It's easy enough since the payment link should be active on your portal by now and if you decide to finance though Lucid Financial Services, they get paid directly. It's an easy streamlined process. I'm not sure about just dropping of a check for payment in full if you decide to pick up at Tysons. Check with your DA on this.

Finally, you will go thru a virtual walkthrough and a due bill walkthrough to address any issues at delivery.

Good Luck and Welcome to the #LucidOwnersClub!!

Great choice, @Spin Doctor .
I look forward to meeting you here in DC sometime and seeing your new AT!

I think his concern was more exploring the ability to withhold payment if there was anything at delivery that made him want to back out.

Hi Babyrocko -

Thanks for the reply and thread link. Very Helpful ! As I continued to read from that thread onwards . . . saw a lot of discussion around the calculation of our lovely PA taxes. Uuugghh. I totally agree with you . . . the "credit" is really a discount. It's not like this is an ongoing relationship (like say at a retailer, where they give you store credit and you apply it to your next purchase) - so the cars value is depreciated by that credit, because people selling a used one in the marketplace will price based on the "going rate" which is directly impacted (lower) because of these "credits". Speaking to the choir, I suppose. Anyways - I agree, but also know that will get me no where with the PA DMV. Where I was confused, was that it sounded like you paid LUCID the PA state sales tax, and they in turn pay the state .. . is that a correct assumption ? My sales agreement did not list State tax anywhere - and I assumed that I would need to go to the DMV to get tag and registration, and pay the PA tax at that point ? Let me know how it worked for you ?

Thanks, Doug

when the status on the dashboard changes to "in production" with a VIN assigned, does it actually mean in production? or could it just be a status change and crickets for months? i'm currently metal roof and wasn't expecting production to start yet, but my status changed today. looking to delay delivery as long as possible. thanks

Correct. On your purchase agreement final price sheet, it will show everything you're required to pay. The sales tax will be on this sheet. It also lists documentation fees, title etc. I just received my registration plate transfer paperwork on Monday. You will have to take some of the forms to a notary to give Lucid temporary POA to register the car here for you. I sent the documents back to Lucid via overnight mail which they should have received today. I was told 3 to 4 weeks until Penn Dot sends me my updated registration information for my transferred tag.

Congratulations! I pick mine from Milbrae this weekend. Are you planning to do Ceramic coating and PPF and Tinting. Assume you are in the Bay Area, which store are you planning to use. Am working through getting quotes in the bay area based on pointers from this loverly forum.

The DA explained the features. The car had no issues, couple of minor things I point. Lucid stands by their product and the service is first class.

Thanks. Congrats to you too on a great car. I plan to do ceramic coating. DA mentioned couple of detailing places. He said OC Detailing in Fremont is good. He mentioned another place let me find out.

Today is the day for picking up my AT! Will post pictures later.
