Starting to regret getting this car...

I hear where you’re coming from, and I don’t think anyone is suggesting owners should just “accept” real issues, especially in a six-figure vehicle. That said, I think it’s important to recognize that experiences with Lucid ownership can vary significantly and what you’re describing may well be your reality, but it doesn’t reflect mine or many other long-time owners I know.

I’ve owned Lucid’s for quite a while now and have driven them extensively; probably more than most. Across that time, the issues I’ve encountered have been minimal and have improved with each software update. That’s not to say it’s been flawless, no car is, (unless you have @Bobby ’s BMW) but it’s been far from unusable. In fact, it’s been the most rewarding vehicle I’ve ever owned.

When someone compares occasional software quirks to a phone that’s bricked daily and has to be sent out for repair, I can’t help but wonder if we’re seeing a case of bottle variation. It does happen: early builds, unusual usage patterns, or even service center inconsistencies can create a drastically different ownership experience. But those individual cases shouldn’t become the dominant narrative. I think what people dislike most is the prognostication that all of our vehicles are bad. They are not.

You’re absolutely right that feedback like yours is valuable, great companies improve because of it. Lucid takes all of our feedback seriously, and I know for a fact many of the engineers take our concerns seriously. But invalidating positive experiences or suggesting complacency when someone else hasn’t faced the same issues doesn’t move the conversation forward. It’s possible to advocate for improvement without assuming bad faith from those who’ve had a different ride.

We’re all here because we care about the product. Let’s just make room for both the good and the bad.
Completely agree, I just got frustrated when these things are being raised and it "feels like" others come in and post a comment that seems like it's invalidating or devaluing what others are experiencing.

shout out to the forum moderators for keeping this thing going and all of us in check!

I've said it before and I'll repeat it again: it is never our goal to dismiss an individual person's issue. We've all had some issue, sometime, with this car or another. It absolutely happens, and having issues isn't rare; that's the nature of a new company, new tech, new product, and EVs in general which are (compared to ICE vehicles) basically in their infancy.

But it can absolutely come off as dismissive sometimes, which is why intent does matter. Intent is nearly impossible to read over text, and I've considered putting a disclaimer in my signature that says "I solemnly swear I am up to no good, but also, I swear I'm trying to help" lol, though I don't think that would actually solve the problem.

Our goal is to see owners be happy if they are, and to help them get happy if they aren't. Sometimes, that's impossible, and that's also okay - there are absolutely some cars that break in so many ways they would infuriate me too.

But keeping the forest in view matters too, not just the trees; it is clear that the "won't go into drive" issue is infuriating, for example, and I have no idea why they haven't already released an OTA to fix that. I wish they would, and two weeks ago, lol. But the (likely) fact remains that even relative to the small numbers on this forum, it is being experienced by an even smaller number of people.

That doesn't make it any less infuriating if you're one of those people. I understand and completely respect that.

I hope that makes sense; if you have feedback, I'd love to hear it (just DM me).

Simple, don’t use key fob and phone key. Pick one.

Rear rattle easily fixed

Get aftermarket floor mats, no car company makes good floor mats

It’s a brand new car company, what else did you expect? Toyota like reliability? These are easily fixed minor issues.
The floormats are being recalled, I got a notice 2 weeks ago, but I have aftermarket mats that work fine

I'm a previous Tesla owner, got my first Lucid (Air Touring) a couple of months ago. Performance, handling, and overall driving experience is great - as expected. However, it's been one issue after another since day one... not acceptable for a $90K/luxury car in my opinion.

I walked up to my car earlier today, parked in my garage, still plugged-in to the Lucid charger from when I came home last night. Sadly, I'm used to door handles not presenting all the time right away but this time there was no response at all despite my phone being in my pocket and key-fob in my hand. Pushing the key-fob button didn't do anything. Lucid app on my phone stuck with "still waking up" spinner. I also tried using the keycard with no luck. The car/computer is completely unresponsive, despite having EV battery fully charged based on charging notifications I received overnight. Very frustrating not being able to leave the house but at the same time lucky this didn't happen while I was out. It's Sunday and Lucid Customer Service is closed. The roadside politely offered to tow it to the nearest Lucid service 80 miles away (dumb decision on my end to get a Lucid before they open a service shop in my town). The tow truck dispatch said they see this problem often, suggested I wait a few hours as it might miraculously solve itself ("these cars sometimes just decide to take a break"). Waiting now until the morning and if no change, I'll be towing it to service, which I already know is backed up and won't be able to work on it for few weeks. I know this because I have an appointment for a different issue scheduled 3 weeks from now, which was the first available appt when I made it 2 weeks ago.

Few days after picking up the car from a Lucid studio, the driver-side rear door handle didn't present when I walked up to it so I tapped it with my finger, which usually does the trick after a short delay (annoying). This time the handle pulled in and remained in that position for a bit then popped out but I was not able to open the door by pulling the handle like usual. I was not able to open that door for several weeks, until Lucid service tech came out and replaced the faulty lock assembly. The handle remained presented the whole time, even while driving. These problems were successfully fixed during 2nd scheduled service appt at my home, after the service tech obtained the necessary replacement parts.

During the same service appt I've reported how the auto unlocking/locking doesn't work well, how random it is. The tech verified that my Lucid app has location permission set to 'always' on my phone and then told me that my key-fob battery needs to be replaced. I said I already did that, replaced with a brand-new Energizer Max battery. The tech suggested it had to be a Panasonic battery for it to work well and replaced it with one of those. As expected, the problem did not go away - the automatic locking/unlocking is just as bad as before battery replacement suggesting the computer has connectivity problems and/or poor signal processing.

A couple of months ago, the day I drove the car off from the Lucid studio, I noticed that certain songs I played caused a rattle in the area behind the passenger-side rear seat. It makes it sound like a poor-quality system in a cheap car. Somewhat different type of rattle can be heard when the sounds system is not on at all. The service tech said he couldn't reproduce it even though he was able to hear it in videos that I took and played for him. For second service tech visit, I found a song that consistently makes the rattle sound, and the tech was able to hear it in person. He identified the rattle was coming from the rear deck/trim panel or parcel shelf. The rattle can be heard by tapping on the outside cross panel above rear windshield. For this to be fixed, I have a tow-out to Lucid service scheduled in 3 weeks as it cannot be completed at my home.

A smaller issue but also annoying... Lucid floor mats are detaching from floor pins and sliding under my feet - I have to realign and push them back onto the floor pins every time I enter/exit the car. All floor mat corners in this car have been curved up since day one.

Issues with media memory/connectivity - my music favorites often disappear for a while then reappear. Sirius satellite radio connectivity issues are frequent in the same locations in which my previous cars never had issues acquiring signal. Bluetooth/Apple car integration is buggy and sometimes doesn't respond or function properly.
I always do a reset after every software update, so far i haven't experience that issue again, the car did go to sleep on me and wouldn't wake up. I was told to walk away from it and come back in a half hour, and it responded. It can be vexing.

Beyond beginning. Began with an unsatisfactory sales and procurement process ending in the car arriving unannounced five days beyond its promised delivery date with little communication. Arrived with no papers, no dealer tag or license plate bracket. I’ve now had multiple service calls by phone with remote resets. I’ve had a visit from a service tech. This morning, I was stranded for more than an hour when the car would not wake up to drive. Yesterday the pilot screen, and 1/3 of the top screen went blank and cannot be restored. They are sending a flatbed for it later this week for an indeterminate amount of time while they haul it to Arizona.. I’ve had it for 2 1/2 months and there has never, I mean, never, been a day when everything worked as it was supposed to. Navigation has only worked very briefly while the tech was here and now I can’t map anything beyond my home county. Some days CarPlay works, some days it does not. Some days the doors unlock, some days I have to use my phone. Some days the climate control works,, today It would not turn on. As much a pleasure as the car is to drive I would be very happy to terminate my lease now. I feel really stupid for talking my brother-in-law into ordering a Gravity. He bought a Mach E for while he waits and has had zero issues. My wife has a six month old Volvo EV that has worked without a single bug.

That car is clearly a Lemon, why aren't you taking it to the top and beyond?

Valid observation and good question. Thank you. I want to see what happens when they take it into a service center and I will weigh next steps.
Yeah, something isn’t right with that vehicle at all. Hopefully they can figure out what’s causing the issues in this visit.

Kudos to you. You are being waaaaaaay more patient than I would be--I would have dumped that car long ago. I hope you can get things turned around.

Thats a bummer....perhaps you can ask them to lemon it and get another loaner...

I'm incredibly sad for your experience and worse, the experience of people who have had problems posted on here and not been treated fairly. I can't believe Lucid would allow this. It's not like there's so many cars that the company can't keep track of something like this. Six figures for a car from a local dealership, you better believe I'm bringing it in if I hear a soft random clicking sound and demanding it stop immediately. Much less part of a SCREEN not working? Like seriously.....

As stated before, I'm sorry for your experience and hope it gets better, but if not, thanks for trying :( . And I hope the overall "good experience" numbers keep going up and the bad numbers start going down. Time will tell I guess.

Can you send the song you used to get the rattle? I have the same issue, but the tech couldn't reproduce it. I also hear a rattle from the back whenever driving in the city/going over small bumps.

I wonder why they don't just offer to hotswap the car with a different VIN with identical configuration. Would have to redo some paperwork but otherwise he would actually get the good car he was supposed to get in the first place and things would be solved.
