Starting to regret getting this car...

I'm a previous Tesla owner, got my first Lucid (Air Touring) a couple of months ago. Performance, handling, and overall driving experience is great - as expected. However, it's been one issue after another since day one... not acceptable for a $90K/luxury car in my opinion.

I walked up to my car earlier today, parked in my garage, still plugged-in to the Lucid charger from when I came home last night. Sadly, I'm used to door handles not presenting all the time right away but this time there was no response at all despite my phone being in my pocket and key-fob in my hand. Pushing the key-fob button didn't do anything. Lucid app on my phone stuck with "still waking up" spinner. I also tried using the keycard with no luck. The car/computer is completely unresponsive, despite having EV battery fully charged based on charging notifications I received overnight. Very frustrating not being able to leave the house but at the same time lucky this didn't happen while I was out. It's Sunday and Lucid Customer Service is closed. The roadside politely offered to tow it to the nearest Lucid service 80 miles away (dumb decision on my end to get a Lucid before they open a service shop in my town). The tow truck dispatch said they see this problem often, suggested I wait a few hours as it might miraculously solve itself ("these cars sometimes just decide to take a break"). Waiting now until the morning and if no change, I'll be towing it to service, which I already know is backed up and won't be able to work on it for few weeks. I know this because I have an appointment for a different issue scheduled 3 weeks from now, which was the first available appt when I made it 2 weeks ago.

Few days after picking up the car from a Lucid studio, the driver-side rear door handle didn't present when I walked up to it so I tapped it with my finger, which usually does the trick after a short delay (annoying). This time the handle pulled in and remained in that position for a bit then popped out but I was not able to open the door by pulling the handle like usual. I was not able to open that door for several weeks, until Lucid service tech came out and replaced the faulty lock assembly. The handle remained presented the whole time, even while driving. These problems were successfully fixed during 2nd scheduled service appt at my home, after the service tech obtained the necessary replacement parts.

During the same service appt I've reported how the auto unlocking/locking doesn't work well, how random it is. The tech verified that my Lucid app has location permission set to 'always' on my phone and then told me that my key-fob battery needs to be replaced. I said I already did that, replaced with a brand-new Energizer Max battery. The tech suggested it had to be a Panasonic battery for it to work well and replaced it with one of those. As expected, the problem did not go away - the automatic locking/unlocking is just as bad as before battery replacement suggesting the computer has connectivity problems and/or poor signal processing.

A couple of months ago, the day I drove the car off from the Lucid studio, I noticed that certain songs I played caused a rattle in the area behind the passenger-side rear seat. It makes it sound like a poor-quality system in a cheap car. Somewhat different type of rattle can be heard when the sounds system is not on at all. The service tech said he couldn't reproduce it even though he was able to hear it in videos that I took and played for him. For second service tech visit, I found a song that consistently makes the rattle sound, and the tech was able to hear it in person. He identified the rattle was coming from the rear deck/trim panel or parcel shelf. The rattle can be heard by tapping on the outside cross panel above rear windshield. For this to be fixed, I have a tow-out to Lucid service scheduled in 3 weeks as it cannot be completed at my home.

A smaller issue but also annoying... Lucid floor mats are detaching from floor pins and sliding under my feet - I have to realign and push them back onto the floor pins every time I enter/exit the car. All floor mat corners in this car have been curved up since day one.

Issues with media memory/connectivity - my music favorites often disappear for a while then reappear. Sirius satellite radio connectivity issues are frequent in the same locations in which my previous cars never had issues acquiring signal. Bluetooth/Apple car integration is buggy and sometimes doesn't respond or function properly.
The glitches with the doors are annoying when they happens. I do not seem to have this problem as often as you do. I carry the fob and my iPhone at the same time. I have had my Lucid Air GT since 2022 now with 51K miles. This problem was worse in the past. As a Tesla owner as well as a Rivian owner, I agree with you that the door stalling is worst on Lucid. But, almost every aspect of the Lucid I prefer to the Tesla and Rivian -- both of them have annoying quirks as well. Neither has CarPlay. The gararge homelink on Rivian fails more often than it opens. Rivian nav is laughable at times as to the routes it chooses. I find Teslas UI too geeky with small icons that are hard to decipher, but it is snappy. I find doing simple stuff on the Tesla annoying -- like windshield wipers. But overall I love my Lucid (and my Tesla and my Rivian). They just have their annoying quirks -- just like every other "fancy" Mercedes, BMW or Porsche gasoline cars I have owned over the decades. I hope that you grow into loving your Lucid -- warts and all -- as I have.

Thank you for pointing this out. I too have this issue with my Lucid floor mats (both original carpet and all-weather) lifting off of the floor and curling in at the posts under both front seats. After 5 months, my driver’s side all-weather mat has actually ripped at the corner by the left floor post from the daily lifting/curling action with easy exit/entry set.

Simple, don’t use key fob and phone key. Pick one.

Rear rattle easily fixed

Get aftermarket floor mats, no car company makes good floor mats

It’s a brand new car company, what else did you expect? Toyota like reliability? These are easily fixed minor issues.
Brand new or old company.
I would expect 💯 reliability in being able to open and close the doors of my 90k+ car or a 20k!

sorry to hear all of that. my touring has none of these issues. I carry my phone as a key and a fob for valet purposes all the time. sometimes i get a 1 second delay when i approach the car. i never have to press the handle to open. call mobile service or get a loaner until they fix it. good luck dude.

Hi, first post by new owner. I picked up my 2025 Air Pure last week and loving the experience so far! I also have the issue of the standard carpeted floor mat not staying in place on the pin. Have not seen any of the other issues from the original post.

My audio issue that I just wrote about on this forum sounds like your video: https://photos.app.goo.gl/XcVShhfqufHbnigq9

Lucid service told me that the parcel shelf vibration was not under warranty and do not adjust the EQ and play it lower levels. So I went yesterday and had a sub installed but had to bypass Lucid sub to get rid of the vibration. Nothing like paying $92,000 for a car and not been able to use the radio and have to put another thousand dollars in just so you can enjoy the audio itself. Somebody needs to do something about Lucid‘s service department, not owning up to issues and basically blowing off customers. I’ve read many times on this forum about how they’ve been kind of pushed aside and not treated properly by Lucid service centers. They try as often as possible to avoid doing any service work. It’s very frustrating.

This behavior isn't limited to Lucid, unfortunately.

I bought a Lucid in Dec 2022 and have been to Lucid SC a few times over the last 3 years.
I have never seen anyone at the local SC exhibiting anything less than first-rate professionalism.
Once in a while, they couldn't readily diagnose or remedy the issues, but they never stopped trying.
Two quick examples:
1- The Service Manager has spent 1 hour driving with me to troubleshoot.
2- They've sent a technician to my house with another Lucid to compare the cellular connectivity on their car and mine.
In short, Lucid's customer service in our town is way better than what I've received from many legacy dealerships, including one that just last month wanted to do a $2K repair job that 2, not 1, independent shops both said I didn't need to.

Thank you all for meaningful feedback (except the batteryman troll 😂)

A quick update that hopefully helps any other Lucid-newbs who end up in the same situation, unable to unlock their car… my tow truck driver jump-started the 12V battery located behind the rear passenger wheel well, accessible via a pigtail with positive and negative leads. This eventually unlocked the car and allowed me to drive it out of my garage and onto the tow truck flatbed to be taken to service center. My Costa Mesa service advisor has been great so far. Hooked me up with an Enterprise rental pickup right away.

Apparently the root cause of my dead 12V battery is that I live in a 3-story townhouse where no matter how far I keep the keyfob from my attached garage, it’s within 40 ft m my Lucid which causes it to detect presence and constantly wake the car up. I’m shopping for a signal blocking pouch for my keyfob that is supposed to help prevent this from happening again 🤞
