I live in Buffalo and have had it happen multiple times last year and this year. It always resolves itself eventually. And I am not aware of any direct or indirect problems as a result. But I also share your concerns about this.It would be helpful to get a bit more definitive answer as to whether this is something that is Just Fine to drive with until things warm up and melt, or whether the noise (clicking, etc) indicates something that could or would eventually break. Those of you who've had this happen, did it resolve itself or not?
Just happened to be on the phone with Natick and they hadn't heard of issues, but it sure sounds like it could happen here in "wintry mix" territory of coastal Maine.
Mind you, that happens to all cars when gaskets are frozen.Similar to my concerns on the way the door handles respond after driving through the snow and parking outside while the snow continues. The loud cracking sound after hearing the handles trying multiple times to extend does not inspire confidence.

Doesn't this mean that Lucid and other manufacturers haven't designed this feature with necessary robustness?Mustang Mach-E: https://www.macheforum.com/site/threads/active-grille-shutters-frozen-shut.23992/
VW Jetta: https://www.vwvortex.com/threads/heads-up-active-grille-shutters-can-freeze.7643329/
Search Google and you’ll find dozens of other vehicles with the same problem.
Or that it doesn’t matter too much if it ices over, as it will eventually un-ice.Doesn't this mean that Lucid and other manufacturers haven't designed this feature with necessary robustness?
Okay, this is your Capitan of 747.Or that it doesn’t matter too much if it ices over, as it will eventually un-ice.
Omg Borski ! That looks like so much fun, is this track open for owners to test their cars on ? That looks like so much fun ! Thanks for the gentle reminder !This is a nice line but very untrue. Please stop spreading it. It has been tested extensively in both snow and freezing conditions. The AGS freezing isn’t limited to the Lucid Air, either.
And in case you only thought it was a recent thing, this is from 7 years ago:
Haha I have no idea where that is.Omg Borski ! That looks like so much fun, is this track open for owners to test their cars on ? That looks like so much fun ! Thanks for the gentle reminder !

Fairbanks sounds like fun, if we can pick up some copper river King Salmon on the way up NorthIf I recall ( but I may be mistaken) it was done near Fairbanks Alaska.
Hey, borski, thanks for the interesting de-icing tip. Next time this happens I'll try it. I wasn't even aware that this button exists.Or that it doesn’t matter too much if it ices over, as it will eventually un-ice.
Most reports seem to have been that they eventually work fine, and the clicking sound is annoying but doesn’t break them or anything.
But could also be that it isn’t robust enough, or should have some kind of heating there - I’m not sure.
Crazy thought but - has anyone tried using the “De-Ice” button? I’m wondering if that would help? I don’t live in a cold enough climate to check.
I've used de-ice several times. It's for the windshield, not any other part of the car. But it works wonders. Beats the hell out of "scraping" your windshield.Or that it doesn’t matter too much if it ices over, as it will eventually un-ice.

I never had my handles stick, but my frunk did get frozen stuck once. I learned to just not use the frunk on extremely cold days, which sucked. But it was a simple compromise.Hey, borski, thanks for the interesting de-icing tip. Next time this happens I'll try it. I wasn't even aware that this button exists.
In the meantime, our temperatures rose above freezing and the clicking stopped. I believe I even saw the shutters (aka louvers) close from open position. Does it mean that nothing is broken?
I wish Lucid did something to stop the clicking once the car senses that the louvers are stuck
We had hardly any snow or below freezing temps last yearYeah it's loud, huh? I'm surprised you made it through last winter in Rochester without it happening.
