Scheduled charging unreliable

Recently noted behavior change. Scheduled for 2am, plug in after 2pm, and go inside. Then later realized the car was charging at expensive electric rates.

I’ve been having this happen too with my Tesla wallcharger. Doesn’t matter which car is plugged in - Tesla or Lucid - the car will just start charging, even though scheduled charging was set for charging to start at midnight. Naturally, and without exception, this “uncommanded charging” only occurs during the most expensive time of day. With my utility that’s between 1600 hrs and 2100 hrs everyday.

I guess I'm lucky. I have had zero issues with scheduled charging. My charging is scheduled to start at 9:55pm and end at 9:55am. I usually plug in after work around 5:30pm and it starts charging at 9:55pm as it's supposed to. If I'm home late and plug in at 11pm, it starts charging right away. I've never had it make a mistake. FWIW, I have a Juicebox wall charger and a 2023 Touring running software version 2.1.60.

Despite app saying scheduled charging and car saying scheduled charging, it started charging on its own ahead of time. Dumb charger and Android phone. Wifi disabled on Lucid. Is there a consensus solution after all this time?

Don't open the app and don't unlock the car. It's a known bug but you can try these steps to see if it fixes it.

1. Perform Air reset. Settings, About, press Air logo until reset.
2. Schedule a charge to around 5 min after your current time.
3. Exit vehicle, lock car.
4. Wait for charge to start.
5. Stop charge
6. Unlock car and schedule for your desired time.
7. Walk away, do not check on the car.

No issues here when using the supplied Lucid cable. Keep in mind the car maintains a trickle charge (at full current) as long as it remains plugged in so you might see multiple notifications on the app. of charging starting/stopping.

As a matter of fact, I manually STOPPED charging on the app for grins one night and left the cable attached while I slept. I discovered car was fully charged (to 80%) in the morning due to "trickle" charging.

Anyone successfully use a juice box scheduled charging with time of use and scheduled charging on the lucid? I thought Id had it working and was able to charge in my time of use period for the past few months but today it just keeps disconnecting itself.

If you've had it working successfully for a few months, you did far better than me. I set the schedule in the Lucid rather than the Juicebox. That works consistently.

I just started using the Lucid scheduled charging and that works every time with the Juicebox set to always charge. In my area offpeak is 9pm to 7am, and unless you're charging from near 0 to 100 I don't think you'd ever have a 10 hour charging session so it works for me.

I just rebooted the car and it seems to work now. My order of operations is 1) shut off scheduled charging on the juice box, 2) plug into car 3) wait a moment for the lucid to implement scheduled charging and juice box to pause itself 3) turn on scheduled charging on the juice box. This has worked pretty well until today, but a soft reboot to the car seems to have fixed the situation. My situation has the added complexity of an extension cable which requires a specific order of plugging in that I always forget.

I have step 1 because I charge my Volvo t8 every night and the scheduled charging functions differently through the juice box in that situation.

I realized if you adjust the charge limit, it tells you how long it will take to get there. I moved it down to 65% and it stopped at 7am like I wanted it to.

It seems like the scheduled charging is hit or miss. I make sure to keep the app open since it seems like the scheduled works through the app to wake the car (which is weird to begin with). But it doesn't seem to consistently work. I'll wake up in the middle of the night to check on it and only when I tap the so does it wake up (I have an android and I make sure the app is aleays on and not battery managed-and let's not discuss why I don't use an iPhone... Yes Android users can afford a lucid too)

Android users can afford to buy Lucids because they refuse to pay the ridiculous Apple Tax.

You know that makes no sense, right? If the cost difference between an iPhone and the average Android was enough to buy a Lucid, they'd be everywhere, like Teslas. I'm an Android user, but my phone cost as much or more than an Apple, and I still have a Lucid.

I came home with 8 miles remaining, plugged it in for it's scheduled 12AM charge, and it started charging instantly. I stopped the charge in the car. Unplugged the connector and plugged it back in, causing it to once again start on its own. Now I have to set an alarm on my phone to plug it in at midnight so I can actually use my off peak rate. I can't believe how much of a pain this software can be for people. My issue is with a Chargepoint Home Flex which scheduled charging is OFF.

On a side note, I'm getting solar installed soon and will be transferring to separate meter time of use. I am currently renting my Chargepoint charger as part of Xcel's EV program. I can buy the charger from them, or replace it with my own. Anyone have a recommendation? I have a 60A connection so I want to be able to charge at 48A.

My Air used to start charging spuriously when I opened the phone app. This was with scheduled charging on the car, and not on the charger. I haven't tried it in a while.

I used to recommend Chargepoint's Home Flex for Air owners because it is so pleasant to use and can charge at up to 50 amps when hardwired. But so many forum members have reported issues between the Air and the charger, I've stopped mentioning it. It works flawlessly with our Volvo EV, but I never tried it with scheduled charging om the Air.

Lucids LCHCS works well at 48 amps. If you can get a discount, it's a no-brainer.

I had the charge point and it just tripped far too often (red ring all the time). I now have a lucid charger and IT works every time. But…… its software is something out of the 1990s. Saying it’s basic is a complement. So if you need good software avoid the lucid one. I hear good things about wallbot
