What are your plans for ordering the Gravity? Reserve the GT, wait for the Touring, or wait for lower trim “Pure” Gravity?

This poll was prompted by @WeighingGravity ‘s comment about his thoughts on the GT reserve rate by existing owners.

Considering they didn't announce Pure Gravity trim, they may not even have that as an option, ESPECIALLY considering the Touring starts under $80k. My bet would be no Pures at all

There should be a 4th option:

"I have no f'ing clue until Lucid tells me more about the differences in the trims and the options/costs."

I'm definitely in that boat...

I’m not sure we’ll see a “Pure” Gravity tbh.

Don’t u need a 4th choice-not buying a Gravity? This won’t tell u what percentage of current owners are buying a Gravity. Maybe I’m missing something.

Is this going to be your car? How can anyone know what will work best for you?

It didn't work that way with Air reservations.
Actually the “reservations” did work this way, it was confirmed “orders” that didn’t. As far as I know, Gravity will be orders, not reservations, so more than likely won’t.

Maybe. But I "reserved" a GT early in 2022. The price was fixed as long as you converted to an order by June 30th. That was the only way you could get a test drive back then, which was my original intent. We drove it in May and really liked it. At that point, I asked if I could switch to a Touring and was told that it would be considered a brand new reservation and a higher cost if I switched.

My reservation was a lot earlier (March ‘20) so maybe that’s why.

Lucid was doing a whole bunch of incentives to secure orders whilst also offering price locks etc. makes sense that when you put your reservation in that it was more restrictive to change because they were offering you discounts etc to secure your reservation.

Any idea if Lucid will take an Air GT in trade? If they don't take a trade I'm not buying.

I also reserved a GT in early 2022. But before I put my reservation in, I told Lucid I first needed a mandatory test drive before I would agree to put my order in. They had no objection. My wife and I flew then to Scottsdale to visit a friend where we test drove a GT at the Scottsdale Mall. After the test drive we put in our order. Can't say why my experience was different than yours.

I may be mistaken, but didn't Peter in an interview mention a RWD Gravity version? This may be what the "pure" model is with a aluminum roof.

They updated the website to include a pre-owned category. They probably plan to resell returned leases there, but potentially trade-ins, too.

We are all accustomed to the trims and their names, but in reality, it’s pretty confusing. Originally it had to do with a variety of features that now can be selected individually. Now, the lines have blurred. The biggest difference, of course, is drivetrain and battery size. I’ve always wondered why they don’t just have one Gravity, and when purchasing, the buyer can choose battery size, wheels driven, interior, etc. No options chosen? You're at $80k. Check every box? Much higher.

OEMs like multiple versions of cars because it helps with resale value (and residuals). If there was only an 80k Gravity then residuals after 3 years would all be close to the same, even if one car had an 80k msrp and the other had a 94k msrp. If there is a GTG at 94k it's residual would be higher than a TG that originally sold for 80k. Yes options can raise residuals but not as much as a different version.

Back at the technology day on September 10, he said that the Atlas motor could be used in the Gravity in the future. At the time, that had me worried that we wouldn't see the sub-$80k price point until 2026. But @Bobby told me my concern was misplaced, and I am very glad that he was correct! I do agree with you that it now seems likely that the future Pure trim would use the Atlas motor. But it's exciting from a scale standpoint to think that the Pure trim could come at an even lower price point.
