Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Touring

Ordered my Lucid Air Touring
August 10, 2022 / 6:16 PM
Stellar White, Tahoe Interior, 21” Aero Blade Wheels, Glass Canopy Roof and AWD Drivetrain

Was told by my DA, Bryan Holly I should have it early JAN. Excited for it!
Nice! Did you order Surreal Sound Pro or DreamDrive Pro?

Got a call from my DA asking if I was ready to pick up tomorrow (the 24th) in Millbrae. Unfortunately, I've got family in town tomorrow and some travel next week, so I've deferred pickup to the 30th. Progress though.

Congratulations. You’ve got some willpower! I would’ve told my family to sit tight and wait!

My DA emailed me today. Car has shipped! Not sure how long it will take to get to Chicago. This winter storm isn't helping. Still don't know if it will make it to Tyson's corner by EOY. If not, I may be flying to Chicago. Dashboard still lists it as "In Production".

We have no way of knowing. If they knew all Touring models would have the hardware before they sent out the invites, sure. That’s a bit of BS. My guess is even if the brass knew at that point, your SA and DA probably didn’t.

Long-term, I still think this move is a good thing, for Lucid AND for customers. Even if the way they handled it was less than good.

At least customers will be able to upgrade their cars after the fact if they change their minds. Or secondary buyers can add features the original purchaser didn’t want, potentially. Or, if they offer subscriptions, you could turn on DDPro just for the occasional road trip.

Completely agree 100% that would be a great move for both the company and customers. It just felt/feels super Tesla to be told the only way you'll get your car is to upgrade to this feature, based on a premise that may be entirely BS.

I can also get on board with the batching system, and you're right we will have no idea until they are in driveways. But that still doesn't solve the problem of DDP and SSP people getting pushed aside

Took delivery Thursday Dec 22nd in Costa Mesa. From the Lucid provided Lyft Lux Black transport from San Diego to Costa Mesa (in a Tesla by the way 🤪, to the interaction with the staff there, and finally the vehicle delivery itself, it was a great delivery experience. The car is fantastic and you will love it once you get your hands on one.

DreamDrive Pro work great during the drive down the freeway home. Only had to disable the very annoying Distracted Driver Warning. Otherwise, love the car.

Did you actually reserve Aug 11th 2022, or was that the day you signed the binding contract agreement like most?

Just made my final payment. It took 3 tries before I could complete the payment through Plaid. How long does it take before the dashboard is updated?

I just received a call from Short hill, NJ studio, confirming my car delivery on Wednesday @ 11 am. Very excited about it.
Cool! Just spoke to my DA a while ago; car is heading to Chicago now for PDI, then pick up at Short Hills by 30th. This is really tight for EOY

Hate to interrupt the positive deliver messages with another negative customer service experience. Since my VIN disappeared on Wednesday and status reverting back to Preparing for Production Thursday, haven't received any response from DA through text or email, and the scheduled time slot I had with her at noon today came and went without a call. I called her number and left a message so we'll see if she responds before the holiday weekend.

This all happened after I already signed a PA and completed the loan documents with my bank, and received confirmation that my bank already funded the loan.

At this point it's not just about missing EOY delivery. I can understand if something went wrong with the car that required them to restart the process. I can even understand if it's something the DA doesn't even have info about yet, and might need to get back to me after Christmas. But not receiving anything even acknowledging my legitimately concerning questions is a huge trust buster.

@yiling1990 It is unfortunate the lack of communication you are getting from Lucid and I was frustrated by it as well and had to ask for a different DA. After not getting much response from my new DA either for about a week, my DA called couple of days ago and since then the communication significantly improved. I hope your DA or SA will come through with an answer for you.

They absolutely should be getting back to you with some sort of explanation. Or "I'll let you know as soon as I get more info" like you said. It's possible your DA isn't aware of the VIN disappearing (I doubt there's an alert or anything that tells them something like this happened.) But if you reached out asking for information, I would hope they'd try and look into it for you.

Hope you hear back today.

Getting my loaded ZR/Tahoe AT with 19" wheels on 12/27. Confirmed my order 8/12, received VIN 12/9. On 12/20 I was old no EOY delivery. Became a complete pain the ass to anyone at Lucid who answered the phone (my DA was worse than useless) & VOILA yesterday t was told I could get it 12/27. Going for PPF & window & canopy tinting immediately with Ironclad - they're right down the street from Riviera Beach Lucid & have heard good feedback on their work. For all the other brethren hoping for EOY delivery - my experience suggests that the "squeaky wheel gets the grease" adage may be true. Good luck to all & Merry Christmas.
