Ordering and Delivery: Lucid Air Pure

Yes, with the $7500 credit, the Touring warrants consideration like many here are doing. But it requires the glass roof which is not my preference and is still $7,600 more spec'd similarly to my Pure design. Since whatever value I placed on being an early adopter is significantly diminished by a Q323/Q423 delivery, the value proposition of a lightly used Pure of Touring is enticing. With Lucids so far depreciating like a normal car, not a hot new EV (see Rivian, Hummer, etc.), its something to think about.

Same here. I have an order for a base Pure (RWD). But, I don't like the glass roof option on the Touring. If they offered a base Touring, with the $7,500 credit, I would consider upgrading.

So I finally got my email today asking to finalize my order, which I did. It is surprising that they're doing this so far in advance of the start of actual production.

I also called my local Studio to see if they could bring a car out for me to check out on the speed humps that exist within our community. As low slung as the Lucid is, it is a bit of a concern. I know some have said that changing the suspension mode helps with this, but I'd like to see nonetheless. The Studio Manager said they would stop off at their next event in the Hamptons, so hopefully that will put my mind at ease. I'd also check out my driveway while they're here to ensure there are no issues there either.

Put it in Swift to stiffen up the suspension for those speed bumps.

It was becoming too onerous of a task to keep up with all the updates, so they stopped updating.

If that is the case then probably it should be announced on page 1, the tracker info, that the data is stale. I also was wondering why I didn't see any changes since around the beginning of the year.

I have both reserved as well. Both are unique. I would guess most on here are not single vehicle households.

I hear you, but how about just as a premium EV vehicle? Who'd have thought a luxury EV R1T pickup truck would be a hit?

I was going to replace my Macan S with the Air, and wife's Tesla Y with R1S. But after test driving the Air (awesome!), its low ground clearance (sedans scrape on my driveway), limited trunk (albeit vast for a sedan), narrow pass-thru (can't fit snowboards; roof mount sapped ~30% range on the Y), etc... A sedan--as awesome as the Air is--just doesn't feel right for me. I should've figured, since I haven't bought a sedan for my household in 20+ years. So, I'll swap my Porsche with Rivian.

I'm eagerly looking forward to the Lucid Gravity SUV, and hopefully a "compact sport" follow-up! Good luck to everyone with speedy deliveries and great shared experiences!

I was a bit surprised to get an email tonight from an ‘inside delivery advisor’. Given that the Pure RWD isn’t scheduled for production until the third quarter at the earliest, it seemed a bit premature. I’m sure this is all very preliminary stuff. I suppose it could also be a sign that they’re doing their best to keep as many orders as possible intact.

Just curious, why were you 1.5 yrs out for the R1S in the first place? Did you have a recent order?

I had the opposite situation. Had a fully Touring finalized but I went down to Pure. After taxes it was about a 20k difference iirc mostly paying for leather seats and glass roof (but if I had lots of money to spare I would've gotten the Touring). Really though my budget was for a Touring with no DDP but with 7500 EV credit but decided 360 view and DDP is more important than a glass roof. If 3 month DDP trial was offered back then I would've also gotten the Touring then purchased the DDP later.

What factors are you deciding on?

I decided that I don't want the glass roof but awd ddp ssp. Initially my wife wanted Zenith Red but she totally loved F Blue we now have. My thinking about ddp was if it prevents just 1 accident it is worth it and I am 66 and I plan to keep the car for 15 years 200k miles if I am still driving at that time.
