New IOS Mobile App 2.0

@Buffalo Bob I see you and feel your pain even though I'm a recent leasee. The 'fall 2024' was actually the reason I pulled the trigger on a Lucid as it was my hold out feature for any vehicle. It's disappointing that Android isn't getting the same love. Based on the email below, "early 2025" for Android. I think we'll need to start another copium Android app thread to go along with the AA thread.

That’s how it was in the old app, so I’m assuming would be the case in this one?
It’s funny, I don’t recall since it’s been so long since I failed to get the handshake. But you’re probably right.

No Lights or Horn on new app? Coming soon?
No External Temperature on new app? Just a snowflake?
Charging limit now shows percentages, used to be cut off. (Fixed in old app)
When charging, charging graphic replaces car graphic and you lose graphic status? (Doors, lights, trunk)
Tire pressure now shows last pressure. From 2 days ago. 😀 (fixed in old app)

Animations and additional info is on old app. Maybe stick with that till new features are ready.

Could be I'm running iOS 18.3 Beta.

But honestly, I am tired of reporting bugs. Last time I reported a "major bug" (auto lights coming on in the daytime when car faced a certain way), they even sent service out to replace the light/rain sensor. Finally they confirmed it was a software problem and it was fixed weeks late. I still have problems with the rain sensor where it will wipe when it's dry and it's on auto-low. I leave it off. They probably think they have error free software & hardware running in my car, but I'm just tired of reporting problems.

Your app comment isn’t a bug; it’s a feature request. Charging does overtake that panel, so you’re requesting they add a feature to see the car while charging.

Thanks, @MacBain00, and welcome to the family! For me at least, my rant is really about a nit in the scheme of things. I'm happy enough with my Lucid app, and I don't even care about Android Auto, but the ongoing 'priority gap' between platforms is just too much for me to ignore.

Besides, it doesn't read like this iOS special treatment is making the recipients all that happy, where Android owners will be thrilled to get the equivalent of an orange for Christmas. :)

The lights and Horn are on their. You have to press the bar on the top most widget to reveal it.

Please bear in mind that I am trying to convey a tone of humor in this while my head explodes. So, if I understand the logic... "Flutter sucks. Let's get the iPhone Lucid app off Flutter and go native, while at the same time significantly enhancing the iPhone Lucid app. Now, let's do the same thing for the Android app? No, that's a bad idea. Instead, let's spend a few months releasing an even further enhanced version of the native iPhone app, while the Android app, two versions back, is still on Flutter, which sucks so bad that we really gotta finish that up. After all, Android Auto has proved that Android owners are interminably patient, and we should reward that someday."
I said none of that. It is *my* opinion Flutter sucks. I have no idea what Lucid thinks of it, but given they moved away from it for iOS and some conversations I’ve had, there aren’t very many people who like Flutter.

Now, here's what I anticipate to hear next...

Several people will tell me to get an iPhone. Most of them will be attempting humor rather than condescension with this statement. Others will not.

Then, I will be told that I should never have bought the car in the first place.

Then I will be told that I should sell the car.
Won’t hear any of those things from me.

Then, I will be told how difficult it is to change any Android app, as there are so many different Android phone brands, while changing an iPhone app is tantamount to changing a roll of toilet paper.
This is true, fwiw. Android is far more annoying to make consistently work, which is why Flutter was a good idea, but unfortunately Flutter sucks.

That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t update the app.

Then, I will be told how difficult it is to work with Google, while Apple is so accommodating that Tim Cook actually sleeps on a cot in Newark until everything is worked out.
Do not conflate Android Auto with the Android app. Android Auto is more of a pain than CarPlay. The app is separate.

The car is great. I love the car. I love the whole experience... frustrations and all. That said, my fervent wish is that at least a few people will acknowledge that it must be pretty frustrating for Android owners to see a level two enhancement of the iPhone Lucid app get released right on the heels of yet another delay of Android Auto, however justifiable, while still waiting on their level one Lucid app enhancements, which by the way, I hear was a 'huge win' back then.
I don’t disagree with you. I’m glad I don’t use Android. That said, don’t conflate Android Auto and the app. Completely separate beasts. Moreover, the AA delay is not up to Lucid. Lucid is done, as far as I know, and Lucid employees have confirmed the same on this forum.

Android version “coming soon”, where have I heard that before in 10 years of EV ownership?
I never said it was coming soon. I said my guess is they plan to rewrite it natively, and my guess if that isn’t that far away.

But those are guesses.

Tap the bar under the icons. They’re there, and you can rearrange them if those are important to you.

No External Temperature on new app? Just a snowflake?
The snowflake indicates the battery is cold and will have reduced regen. No idea about external temp.

Charging limit now shows percentages, used to be cut off. (Fixed in old app)
I don’t know what this means?

When charging, charging graphic replaces car graphic and you lose graphic status? (Doors, lights, trunk)
Yup, this is a good feature request. I hadn’t thought of this, but you and @Alex did. Please send that as feedback; I will too.

Tire pressure now shows last pressure. From 2 days ago. (fixed in old app)
It shows the last recorded pressures. This was a very very commonly requested feature. It will update the next time you drive it.

Am I the only one who still cannot get the app to wake the vehicle without deleting WiFi?

I have to say that the absence of Android Auto on my car for 2+ years has somewhat poisoned me. My first reaction on seeing Lucid's email this morning, announcing the new iOS app, was anger.

I don’t have the energy to go back and look at all the times when owners have recommended to turn off Wi-Fi. It accomplishes nothing. The only use case I can imagine is when you literally have no cellular signal because you park in an underground garage, etc. If you think it will get your OTA’s faster, you’re incorrect. I routinely park my car in my garage where it has about one bar and I have never had an issue downloading an OTA or waking the car from the app (excluding times when Lucid’s own server is down).

While your handle on the forum simply says 'Grand Magistrate', @borski, I would argue that your real title should be 'Grand Magistrate, and Defender of the Faith'. :)

But we'll be getting it in 'early 2025,' which I'd imagine means Fall 2025 in Lucid speak 😂😭

New Lucid app crashing for anyone?

I saw the email this morning and updated. The new app worked for about half an hour and i was playing with it. Suddenly it will not open. I see the lucid logo and it crashes. iOS 18.2 on iPhone 14 Pro. Phone is on cellular.

Meanwhile, there are other vehicle choices with very competent native navigation and voice assistant, and that work well for android phone owners.

If it makes you feel better. @thecodingart is right. The new app may look nice, but does feel like a usability downgrade with all the swiping around on the home page to find stuff. And I don’t see any new features either

I like it better personally. But everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Am I missing something or did they remove the External Temperature display? If so, I'm disappointed. I keep my car in my garage in AZ during the summer and used that function to monitor the temp in the garage.

It remembers the last recorded tire pressures, which was an often requested feature of the prior app.

Yeah I am having the same problem. I heard they are having server problems so maybe wait a while and try again.
