Hahaha I’ve seen this too. 255 is the maximum value you can store in a single byte, so my guess is they’re representing the SOC internally as an unsigned byte - which actually isn’t a bad idea. No reason to use four bytes when you can use one.
But it also looks like before they’ve loaded “real data” it defaults to the maximum value heh
