Latest Flyover Photo

Here is the second Gravity that I believe is a production version on the varying surface test track at the factory.

Lucid seems to be clearing out the cars on both the east and west staging lots. This is from Friday Jan 31.

Still no Gravity’s spotted on the lots?
It is hard to tell from a C182, but even looking at the higher resolution pictures on my computer, I don't think there were any. I did have a friend tell me that he spotted a White Gravity in Tempe with AZ temp tags. This friend would definitely know what he was seeing so I trust him even if he does drive a Tesla.

Here are some pictures from Tuesday Feb 4. No Gravity found but a lot fewer Airs in the staging lots.

This is bad! Two months into production, and not even 5, 10, or 15 Gravity units are showing up on the lot. What on earth is happening?

Unless they’re hiding them in an underground garage, haha! It’ll be interesting to see how Peter is going to justify this abysmally slow ramp-up on the call.

There is a building that was part of the expansion that can hold like 500 cars I think.

I would not read too much into a flyover video. I only spend 45 minutes to an hour there every few weeks. It will be very easy to miss any Gravity that were being loaded onto car haulers any of the times that I am not there.

Interesting. Perhaps a specific component, software, or other factor is hindering their progress, and they’re concealing a significant number of vehicles. They’re aware people perform flyovers, and may not want them being seen in the open and people start asking questions similar to when Airs were sitting on lots during ramp up. 🤷‍♂️

At this stage, I wouldn’t anticipate any deliveries maybe until April or later.

True but even the first trickle of Airs got caught in flyovers and they weren’t happening daily etc.

Yes, but the factory was about 20% the size it is now, heh. There was literally nowhere to hide any cars at the time, and Lucid didn’t know anyone was doing flyovers for a bit.

Just thinking out loud.

Plus Bears used to do flyovers two to three times each week.

When Apple for example ramps iPhone production they go through a ramp process: XX of an Alpha build, using many initial acceptance test and risk bought parts that might not be final. Lots of manual processes, yield fallout and rework. Progress to high volume Beta builds where the reasons for rework are addressed- part tolerances are corrected, automation is improved, etc. Finally there’s full production release and continued yield improvement over time. This process takes months. Those early builds are typically reworked (some held back until upgraded parts arrive) and sold to customers when the product launches.

I believe what we’re seeing here is a classic Alpha build, 50 cars to debug and help ramp production. What’s unusual is that where most companies will hold these units back for rework/ upgraded parts where needed these went to “customers” and so we’re seeing the output of the factory ramp far before we normally would. In Apple world the new iPhone wouldn’t even be announced yet so as not to kill sales on the existing model, while most car companies with existing models would do the same (think trying to keep the Model Y and 3 refreshes under wraps until the last minute). Lucid doesn’t have an existing model to fine young cannibalize so it’s got nothing to lose… as long as the customers are in the fold and won’t be upset if things are not up to full production snuff. They might even be doing a little production beta testing.

Interesting. One only has temp tags if one has recently purchased/leased the car. The manufacturer would have manufacturer or dealer tags and license plates so it doesn't need temp tags. I didn't think that Gravities were actually being currently sold.

As an aside, on Black Friday I drove to the Scottsdale Fashion mall to walk forgetting that it was a shopping holiday. So my usual parking area in one of the parking garages was not available and I ended up driving around the garage (the one closest to the Lucid showroom) looking for a space. I found an area where there were a bunch of cars covered by car covers. I am sure they were Lucids (by size and shape; also the other mall showrooms -- Tesla and Polestar -- adjoin a different parking garage. It seemed to be around 20 vehicles).

Recently I drove around again. I saw the same thing but there were probably a few less (probably around 15, I didn't count). I didn't know that they kept a supply of cars there.

Here is the full flyover video from Thursday Feb 20. Three Gravity as discussed in the Gravity Delivery thread and a consistent number of Airs in the staging lots.
