Has anyone figured out how to install the lanyard that comes with the key fob. Seems near impossible to thread the lanyard through the hole

Use a grocery tie to push the thread through. Or a tiny wire..same deal.

Yes....

I didn’t get a lanyard or any kind of thread!

I posted this a few months ago but the experts here insisted I was wrong. Glad to see someone else having this problem. It took me most of the day, and even with a paper clip trying to push it thru, the weird internal bend (Lucid decided a straight through hole is too easy - they want you to have a Lucid Experience on day one) catches the loop and won't let it pass. They even took the extra step of making the string flexy like a wet noodle (pushing a rope up a flight of stairs is easier), and both the string and the key fob black, so you can't see the end of the loop when it sticks in the fob. Use three hands to install the loop = you will need a strong light and infinite patience.

I had to get pliers and make a tiny bend in the end of the paper clip to try to hook the loop. I also considered candle wax to stiffen and put a small bend in the string, or freezing it in a curved shape, or push a twist tie thru, hook the loop, and pull it through.

It's important to put the loop on, otherwise that slippery devil will escape into the sewer -- makes it easier to find when in your pocket. Everything about this key fob is a learning experience = Quick: what is the sequence for (insert anything the fob does)?
It takes time to learn this...not intuitive, no visual clues either. You have to hard-ass memorize. Do you know Morse Code ?
I sign in and use the app to open the funk/trunk. It only takes 5 minutes = much faster than going through the Morse Code sequences until you find one that works ... you have to wait a bit after each try because of the delay.

Was your battery DOA ? Get a Faraday key fob pouch.

I know .... you guys think the microscopic markings inside the curve are helpful: This is how to find them:

Hopefully the keyfob battery thing is no longer an issue, OTA fixed that awhile ago. Maybe a surgical suture needle is the way to get something through the keyfob hole? In any case, yeah the fob is…original. I don’t think the functions are hard to figure though. One squeeze = lock, two squeezes = unlock, long squeeze = frunk. The wife’s car is more annoying honestly, one tap = unlock drivers door only, double tap unlocks all 4 doors.

I don't think the key fob is rocket science. Pulled the lanyard through with the aid of fine tweezers in just a few seconds. I like the fob - unobtrusive , no weight, muscle memory comes quick. Even for an old guy. Apple products have trained me well.

You know that weird silver metal piece that comes with every sewing kit? The one you look at, wonder what the heck it is, and toss to the side? It is a threader. I think it would work really well for this since it bends.

Also, I am not an Apple user at all, but the fob is not remotely difficult and is so light and slim it fits easily in your pocket without being obtrusive.

My lanyards were put through prior to delivery! I’ve got to admit, when I first saw the key fob I was underwhelmed. I was certain that because it is shaped like a car, I would press the fob’s frunk area to open the frunk, the trunk area to open the trunk, and the top to open the car. No such luck. One button only. It’s kind of defeats the purpose of it being shaped like a car for me.

I think it would be nicer if it was a bit heavier, maybe made of metal, with markings where to press. And two different colors for drivers.

I attached an AirTag to mine, I would love if the fob had “find me” technology built-in.

Yes to all of this. I usually use my phone, anyway. But if I were to use a fob, I’d want it to be metal.

If it were metal it would be cold and heavier. At first I thought similar to you, but within a couple days it no longer mattered. Its perfection is in its slimness and lightness. I often completely forget it is in my pocket.

I like the fob too, I really do. But I think you guys are confused.... there are combinations of long and short presses to open things...I find it very easy to set the alarm off but I can't open the trunk or the frunk (and forget is it one to lock or one to unlock?)....can't figure out is it de de daaaaah or de de de de daaaaaaaaaaaaaah or La de dah de dah? I always get the alarm. (and I forget is it one to lock or one to unlock?)

I"m sure I will remember it some day. I do like the fob: I can barely tell it's in the pocket watch pocket of my jeans.

I"m not smart enough to own this car.

Ahh, that is just habit. You will learn it eventually!

The device instructions are depicted on the back of the FOB, but I must have my seeing-eye wife with me to decipher.

Where do I find the lanyard...I don't see it in the black box the keys and cards came in

It's on the keychain...I think that was a separate box? Been a while though
