In order to survive and gain market share, Lucid needs to offer a trim level below Pure.

Lucid Air touring
The latest numbers and accompanying stock price dive are an ominous sign for the future of this company. Yes, they have the Saudis backing them, but the fact of the matter is that Lucid needs to offer a product that is more accessible to more people.

Since they have neither the resources nor time to launch a Model 3-type of car anytime soon, a trim level below Pure makes the most sense. Remove some batteries, downgrade the performance specs, manufacture a less expensive interior, etc etc. - whatever it takes to quickly debut a $65k version of this car so that it competes with the EQE, i4, etc etc.

Just as a reminder, we generally frown upon posts that play Monday morning quarterback. Unless you are the CEO of a car company, which just about all of us are not, you're only likely to start yet another long, tired debate with folks who are generally pulling their ideas directly from their butts.

Lucid just released an app update to support Saudi Arabia. That's your clue to the current strategy. Worldwide expansion is likely a better route to increased sales than making a "cheap" version of their current car, especially since they've barely started delivering Pure to the current crop of reservation holders. Offer a cheaper version now, and every one of those sales is open to being brought in at a lower profit per transaction. Especially since Pure tends to attract far more cost-conscious people.

The US is not the only place to sell expensive sedans. There are plenty more customers around the globe to attract. Lucid is only beginning to scratch the surface of that potential. And that's not to say they couldn't be doing better here, too.

I would not be surprised to see Lucid expand the current favorable lease terms available only on Touring and above to Pure customers. But lowering prices? We've been over this many times already on the forum. It's not likely to help.
