Home Assistant Automations

This works the same way as MyQ did - uses a sensor on the door and a laser. Drawback is no info about proximity / motion sensor, and it relies on the cloud so it’s slower.
Konnected's GDO works with Home Assistant and Hubitat via a 100% local integration using the ESPHome native API.

It also works with SmartThings and Alexa via a connection to Konnected's free Konnected Cloud service.

The Konnected blaQ shipping in March looks like a finished RATGDO. It looks nice. For my RATGDO, I ended up buying a 3D printed case and a 12v - 5v USB buck converter to power mine from the backup battery. This would have been easier.

Thanks for the reminder - I ordered two and will have to look at Hubitat's integration.

What color is your GDO program button? I’d confirm it matches the right series.

It appears the answer will be no, but going to ask the question anyway... Does the API provide access to control preconditioning? My office is about 10 minutes from a charger, which isn't enough conditioning time to matter. The app doesn't allow remote start of conditioning. I was hoping maybe HA could do it through the integration.

I'm still loving all the other data exposed through the integration though. Very cool!

If it does we haven't figured out how yet. I'd like that as well, just to warm up the battery on cold mornings.

Neat! My ratgdo took all of six seconds to install and is just ziptied inside the cover, but this is really neat!

…oh, it literally is ratgdo lol

Given Home Assistant finally has Shortcut + Siri + Voice Assistant integration (amongst a laundry list of other features that presented a large gap like a decent remote https://unfoldedcircle.com/reserve ), I started diving back in to migrate away from some of my higher end automation stuff (Josh.ai + C4).

@borski you are feeding into this 😂. This weekend I’ll probably be playing around with node red again.

My wall control is of the smart variety that uses serial communication with the opener. It knows if sensors are blocked, etc. Shorting the terminals does not operate the door.

My opener button is round yellow.

So I think blaQ.

That remote looks pretty cool. I have not seen this yet but I put myself on the reserve list. I wonder how the HA integration is.

With the Konnected blaQ installed on my battery-backed GDO, I wonder if my wall switch will still be able to open the door if power to the Konnected is out. If not, I'll have to power the Konnected from the 12v backup battery instead of the supplied wall adapter- if the opener's charging circuitry furnishes enough current to operate the Konnected and keep the battery trickle charged at the same time.

I believe your wall remote will still open as it does now on battery backup. At least that's how my RATGDO works. The wiring should be the same.

Yes, it'll work fine. It's just running in parallel, not in series.

Sorry not sorry

Also, share your automations!

Dumb question: can I use two ratdgo devices if I have two garage doors?

I currently have a fully-functional and debugged Hubitat installation with 58 Zwave, Lutron, and Zigbee devices and dozens of automations. You guys are slowly wearing me down toward plunging into another rabbit hole!
Yes, I have that scenario... One is a gate, the other a garage. Each I have a dif. implementation since the GATE needs dry contact so I use MQTT... But in HA I see 2 doors and then I pass that to HOMEKIT...

I will try to play with the HA and the API today. I am thinking there could be a way to develop a quick SIRI shortcut based on my working schedule to precondition the car so it has a nice temp when I hop back to the house, I will try and post the link to such shortcut once I am done. I saw somebody posted about Pre-conditioning is that something truly available or not yet? so you can set up preconditioning due to temp or based on battery % for fast charge?

Terminology is confusing here. The API can control HVAC "preconditioning," but as far as we're aware it cannot control battery preconditioning.

thanks for the clarification...

There's a new release of the integration out, v1.0.2.
- This one should automatically wake the car when you do anything which requires it, like unlocking doors or turning on HVAC.
- It doubles the refresh rate when your car is actually awake to get higher precision data when it counts.
- It adds several sensors including power state (whether the car is asleep or awake) and gear (drive/reverse/neutral/park)
- It adds two computed sensors, speed and efficiency (Wh/mi). These are not direct readings from the car, but computed from the change in other sensors like odometer and battery power.

I'm working on some statistics and template sensors using this data which I hope to share over the weekend:
Screenshot_2024-02-13_at_11.05.16_PM.png

The efficiency is averaged over 15 minute intervals and inverted to produce that mi/kWh figure. A template sensor then multiplies that mi/kWh by the current battery power to give an estimated miles remaining. No number inputs required, I should be able to just ask Siri what my remaining range is once I finish hooking this up.
