Gravity Spec coming Oct 3 ?

- larger vs. smaller battery pack
- 1 vs. 2 motors (and/or current motors vs. Atlas motors)
- 3-chamber vs. 1-chamber air suspension
- rear wheel steering
- HUD
- 2-row vs. 3-row seating
- Dream Drive vs. Dream Drive Pro and associated sensor hardware
- Surreal Sound vs. Surreal Sound Pro
- dynamic ambient lighting
- 4-zone A/C adjustment
- massaging front seats
- stealth brightwork

I think a $40K price spread is easily in the cards . . . and maybe even more.
I will be so much happy to be able to chose any or at least most of these items independently!
Because I clearly see that my priorities are heavily different to quite a few others at this forum, and I'm most likely not alone: for example I don't care about rear wheel steering, will be ok with single motor, but want 3 rows and massage for sure.

To compare the top trim Volvo EX90 with options is ~$30k more expensive than base in Europe. AFAIK they don't offer single motor version in the US, so you should have smaller spread for it

I can see a $40k or more price spread between the Pure and GT versions.
I think it would be great if Gravity has pricing spreads similar to the Air. Not the original pricing spreads.

And I agree on the ability to choose items independently.
In some ways that makes up for the lack of a small price increments like those from Rivian.

I find it interesting that for the $40k spread between an Air Pure and an Air GT you get:
  1. almost twice the hp, the related speed increase, and 60 more miles of range,
  2. 20" wheels ($1,750 value),
  3. SSP ($2,900 value), and
  4. the Comfort/Convenience Package (CCP) ($2,500 value).
The total value of items #2- #4 is $7k.
I suppose the remaining $33k ($40k - $7k) is for the stronger motor (430hp vs. 819hp).

Nicely equipped Pure or Touring (w/o leather):
  • Air Pure with everything on AGT (except 819hp motor): $79,550 ($10k more than base price)
  • Air Touring with everything on AGT (except 819hp motor): $89,050 ($11k more than base price)
I suppose the only pricing that's missing is around $100k.

It's going to be interesting to see how Gravity is packaged.
There are so many features to offer as standard vs. optional.
That's why somebody is paid the big bucks!

The silver lining for me as I wait for pricing, followed by ordering; gives me more time pay for a higher trim level or more features without increasing the amount financed.
Stuffing more in the mattress! :)

The one unfortunate aspect of the Gravity pricing levels is they won't all exist at the release of Gravity; no $80k trim at release.
I'm sure Lucid is counting on buyers like me who are saying "I would be fine with a fully loaded Pure or even a Touring, but I'm not waiting a year! Let's buy a GT!"

Quite a few other manufacturers do that, so should be understandable and acceptable. If we'll be talking about "Pure/Touring will come within a year". Otherwise some potential buyers of cheaper versions may decide "I'd rather wait a little more and buy the midsize GT"

Guess Oct 3 wasn't to be. Hoping for some trim/pricing/eta update soon.

Perhaps they will aim for doing something prior to the Q3 earnings announcement (which, based on the last three years, will likely be made in the first half of November).

They already came out and said it was a type-o. Nick tweeted it.

No, it was still a possibility. He tweeted: "We have not said we will announce pricing on October 3." That is different from saying that they wouldn't announce pricing today. And I am sure that, as Head of Comms, he chooses his words very carefully.

I like your optimism. :)

I was told by a source that Rawlinson can make decisions very late in the game. For example, everybody at Lucid thought the Air Dream Edition configuration was locked and loaded well before first deliveries . . . until Rawlinson decided at the last minute to split it into a Performance and a Range version, leaving everyone scrambling. I also found out that the difference between the two was more than just software and battery management. The Performance used the exotic-metallurgy motors at both ends, while the Range used the standard motor at the front end. (This makes me wonder if what became the Range was the original plan for the Dream, as it drove the range figures that Lucid wanted to headline at launch. If so, it was the Performance that was added, as maybe Rawlinson just couldn't stand leaving any readily-available power on the table, especially as he knew the Plaid was soon to launch.)

This has left me hoping that there might still be a chance for a Performance option to be announced at launch. If that's what is going on -- and it could well be just a pipe dream -- I'm getting a bit more patient with the wait for final specs and pricing.

P.S. Just to be clear, the parenthetic comment, above, is rank speculation on my part.

I just remembered something that supports the view that the original Dream Edition is what became the Dream Range version. Months before the announcement of two Dream versions, I met Zak Edson at the Miami Brickell Design Studio opening. He told me about the special metallurgy that was used in its rear motor, which is the motor configuration for the Range version. He made no mention of using that motor on both ends of the car.

Also, Rawlinson made that (semi-)famous gesture of putting up four fingers at a press event just weeks before the production launch, leaving everyone to wonder what he was signaling. It turned out he was hinting at the 1,111-horsepower rating soon to be announced for the Dream Performance.

Although Lucid has announced some final features -- 6 exterior colors, 5 interior palettes, no captains chairs -- they are still holding off on firm power, acceleration, and range numbers, all things that would be affected by bringing a Performance version into the mix. I'm really wondering if they are not waiting for a late-breaking decision on that front.

All I can add is that I hope Lucid remembers that buyers opted for the Performance Dream over the Range Dream by a 9-to-1 margin, and I suspect that would not have changed much even had they cost the same.

When I got my DE, they *did* cost the same. Pretty sure they always did.

I saw a few Gravity's this morning at the staging lot on the South side of the factory. Studios, release candidates for testing, press cars??? More pictures to come.

Right you are. I meant to write "even had they not cost the same". Sorry for the confusion.

Ah yeah, then I agree with everything you said.

I can say this: you and I are not the only ones who noticed nobody wanted a Range DE. :)

Interesting that the Aurora Green has the charge port behind the front wheel well, and the location of the NACS port is whited out in this picture. I guess that is one of the beta prototypes and not a release candidate car . . . but why white out the rear charge port location?

Get ready for the usual internet chatter.

"Lucid lost $2 million for every prototype they built. This isn't a sustainable business model, yada yada yada..."

Could be a protective wrap for the port since they may have not yet finalized the NACS door style? Either way, also because of your comment haha.

Good eye, even on the higher resolution photo that I have on my computer, I cannot tell if there is any charge port contour under the white film.
