Also previously acknowledged by Emad Dlala at 1:13:48 of Out of Spec's marathon HQ visit video: "You're dealing with certain components that we never sourced, and the size. And in this short timeframe, we were able---the team brilliantly, really imaginatively found a way how to still put it in that space. Because ... Gravity was already designed, basically released for production ... when Tesla opened up the [supercharger] network."

That's interesting. I called my delivery advisor to see if the bear could be a "delete option". He wasn't sure and was going to check somewhere. He apparently didn't know it was as easy as telling the local service center not to put them on. Good news, though.

Made it to the Lucid Studio in New York yesterday, and finally got to spend a LOT of time with the Gravity. Blown away. Full stop. The interior space is mind-bogglingly vast. Despite being an early build car that has seen a lot of wear and tear, the overall fit and finish was exceptional — at least as compared to my Model X. There was a rip in the Yosemite material in the drivers seat (see pic) but the studio rep said it was caused by a heavier guest (who had a wad of keys in his back pocket) sliding out of the seat.

The studio wasn’t very crowded, and to my surprise, there was a Lucid rep there from Lucid HQ. Said he was there to ask visitors for their impressions of the car. I mentioned I’d been assigned a VIN for my DE, and he really lit up. Congratulated me on being among the first to receive a Gravity (and shed some light on why only 450 Dream Editions are being made — said it is an homage to the maximum achievable range for the GT — something I hadn’t heard before. Said they did same for Air DE; pegged number made to the maximum achievable range).

He also confirmed some other things we’ve all been discussing here: color, wheel size and interior trim make a huge difference in initial priority. Said Aurora Green, Black, Tahoe, 22/23 wheels are top of the heap right now with other configuration combos to dovetail in over the next couple of months.

This helps reconfirm my choice of Tahoe Leather for my DE... This is more fuel for my personal conspiracy theory that the faux-leathers are actually not as quite durable as real leather (though given the story of what reportedly happened I can't say the Tahoe would have stayed intact either).

That's worrisome. This is a shot of a passenger-side seat from one of the Yosemite interiors at the NYC studio:

I'm beginning to regret my choice of the Yosemite interior for our Black GDE. I was already a little leery after seeing a video where one of the Lucid designers described the construction of the Purluxe material. She was discussing the layers and mentioned that the top layer was the "color layer", which I took to mean the color doesn't go all the way through.

There was an Air demo in the Miami Brickell showroom for well over a year with the Tahoe leather interior, and I never saw any damage to it. And the Nappa leather in our 3-plus-year-old Air still looks brand new except for developing a bit of patina (a desirable trait for fine leather) on the front seats.

If you look closely at the photos, it is concerning that the tears in the purluxe do all seem to all "connect the dots" in the perforation (this is especially apparent in the seat cushion photo where it's very geometric and follows the perforation pattern--not like a random "knife slash")....which makes me question if there's a weakness in the design of the material/perforation pattern.

Didn’t see that other tear (but wasn’t really looking for it either). Agree it’s concerning.

Lets also consider this is a car sitting in the studio for people to see. Anyone getting in is not a owner and not gonna treat it nice. And there may be a mischievous on’s deliberately dragging their buts to test them to 😜 and what not. At the same time we cannot 100% say its not durability issue.

I don't disagree with the fact that studio cars are used and abused with high volumes of careless people all day long...That being said, I fear the truth my lie somewhere in the middle. There are lots of people on here with purluxe interiors that do not have any problems...however, there are other threads on here specifically talking about tears in purluxe and I can't help but notice that most (if not all) of them have the same pattern of tears along the dots:

Also, these cars haven't been in the studios very long. There are demo cars in other dealership brands that gets lots of high-abuse volume and I haven't personally ever noticed any tears in those vehicles. Just my 2 cents. I'm not implying there's an actual "problem" with the material...just that it may not be quite as durable long term as real leather and may require a bit more of a gentle touch by the owner.

Yes, there seem some quality issues too with Air. Not all batches are behaving the same. I hope once we get to higher volumes, this things will get better.

I have not seen similar reports of tears in the leather interiors, either on this forum or in cars in showrooms, which presumably would see the same level of use and abuse. There have been some forum complaints about wrinkling or creasing of the leather, but the photos didn't show much that seemed beyond the normal response of real leather to use. As far as I can remember, all the reports of tearing have been with the Purluxe.

I'm not going to change my order of the Yosemite at this late date, but this second tear in a NYC seat does make me uneasy.
