Gravity Delivery Discussion

The quickest way is to contact the sales representative who was matched to you upon submission of the original order. Until recently even the sales reps were unable to change an order and had to call HQ, but now they can access the order system themselves and put in the change. It'll still take a day or two before the change shows up in your Lucid account profile, though.
It's faster now. My change today had a confirmation email in under 30 minutes.

I just called my sales specialist. He said the plan is still for the specialists to make contact for verbal final order confirmations, so this email was not that final confirmation before production. He has no idea why the emails went out, especially for order changes that had already been confirmed earlier.
I suspect we might share the Sales specialist. Without putting the full name here, his initials are VC. He first responded to my email and stated that he wasn't sure either what generated this email but within 20 min sent me another email stating :
"This may be an indication that your Dream edition has been slated to begin delivery! I'll
be in touch soon with more details".
I do hope I get an email or phone call before my final specs are locked in, although I don't anticipate making any changes.
PS- unless I missed it, the 0-60mph time on the Dream has still not been announced- right?
Maybe @borski has done a test 🤔

Nope, not my guy. I also didn't get the follow-up response you did. Actually, I was kind of hoping the Dreams wouldn't be the first off the line. I was also hoping our first GDE would arrive long enough before the second one so that we could confirm we liked it enough to replace our Air with the second one. But, as I got the same email later in the day for the second one, too, it's looking likely they're going to arrive fast on the heels of each other.

I've made several changes to both orders as I worked my way through all the information I could find on tires, wheels, colors, specs (and dragged some other kindly cooperative forum members through the process with me), so I'm as locked in on the orders as I'm probably going to be. However, not being able to see or test drive final production units and some strange-looking EPA numbers across the option mixes has made this something of a murky exercise.

I don't think @borski has been able to drive a Dream Edition yet, and I was really hoping for his input on the differences between a DE and GT before locking in at least the second car. But maybe we'll still hear from him the moment he gets to drive one. (That's a hint, bucko . . . . ;) )

Motors are going to be the same hardware right? Maybe a voltage/output difference for pack size?

I just wrote her and told her to change my interior to Mojave premium (didn't realize you don't get the 18-way seats or tray tables with basic) and the deluxe handling package.

The only DE I’ve seen was the one at the LA Auto Show ages ago. I have never driven one.

I just received (10am April 19th) a call from our Sales Rep saying our Gravity Dream Edition was about to start production and he would have a VIN soon. I was quite surprised, actually. We are long time Tesla owners, since 2014, having purchased 8 of them and with 2 at the moment. Wife wanted this because of it beauty. I will stick with my Teslas because I use Full Self Drive on every trip - amazing.

I have FSD. It was "only" $6k when I bought the vehicle.

When I say I don't let it drive in city traffic, I mean that I live in the city with the oldest road layouts in the US if I enable it before I get to a major road, it constantly tries to kill me or others. It gets light states wrong and tries to run red lights, it tries to go the wrong way at divided turns, and is generally terrifying. There is no way Tesla will deliver "robotaxis" in the next 5 years with this tech. Outside of the city, it's like butter.

I just want highway performance where I don't have to deeply concentrate on a cross-country drive. We've done MA<->FL non-stop twice in the X, and that would have been impossible without the ADAS capabilities.
This is somewhat similar to my experience too, minus it trying to kill me 🤣 (and I feel like a sucker for having paid $12,000 for FSD). It’s great when I have a chance to actually use it, but living in a congested city ‘ain’t the place. Because it actually obeys traffic laws, coming to a full stop at stop signs, and yielding the right of way to pedestrians or other cars at 4-way stops, I was frequently honked at, and the subject of fist-waving rage from other impatient drivers. As a result, I recently gave up on using it in the city; too much of a hassle. For similar reasons, I rarely use it on the highway (with one exception I’ll describe later). I commute to and from work daily on highway 280 — a highway many refer to as the Bay Area’s autobahn. Traffic generally flows well, not withstanding a few hot spots (I’m looking at YOU, Sand Hill Road!). Whenever I’m on autopilot, I’m frequently cut off due to the huge amount of space the system leaves between my car and the one I’m trailing. And that’s on the lowest space setting. I frequently had to take over, having been honked at. It’s all just too frustrating, so I’ve stopped using it for my commute.

Where I DO tend to use it successfully without annoying fellow drivers is on I-5 driving between NorCal and SoCal. But that’s just a handful of times per year. And quite frankly, that’s fine. I love being in control of my vehicle; more active than passive here.

If anyone thinks a company manufacturing cars for 3 years is going to knock it out the park on fit and finish then they're delusional. Legacy OEMS have had decades to master getting vehicle build consistency off the line and producing millions of cars to get it right. Lucid has built 20K cars at best so cut them some slack. Not saying what they deliver is horrible but to expect perfection off every vehicle this early into the game is unrealistic.
Also, in at least two of the reviews that complained about misaligned interior panels, the cars in question were the ones used for the soft dirt drifting portion of the test drives. In two of the instances, the cars had charging ports on the front left and rear left fenders, so I assume Lucid used early prototypes on that portion of the test. It would stand to reason that those interiors were not quite final — at least not as final as the cars they used for the highway portion of the test drives. It’s a shame the reviewers weren’t told to expect build quality issues on those mules (or maybe they were told but neglected to connect that to their constructive feedback).

Start of production with VIN coming soon.
Happy for you if that becomes a reality for you.

The more I read the posts in the Gravity Lease/Finance thread about people possibly cancelling their order based on the current lease terms, I'm hoping it results in me moving up the order list. Currently, 85% of the total orders are ahead of mine, based on order date. Mixed feelings; excited and yet I feel for those for which the current lease terms don't meet their needs.

I am one of those that will cancel. I can wait for better lease terms.

I’m still a little weirded out by this “modification request” email that apparently wasn’t for a modification (at least on my end)but ostensibly for a changed line in the contract. It sure seems like they’re implying I requested a modification:

“Your change request for Order GD41967-09XXX on 4/18/2025 10:23 PM has been completed. To view your updated design, please log into your Lucid portal or review the attached Order Agreement.”

I still have not received a similar email for my still outstanding GGT order. (The email I have is for my DE).

In general, my sales associate has not been very responsive. other calls I’ve made to lucid sales have been quite pleasant, but nobody ever knows anything and they never follow up even though they say they’re going to.

I’m not really sure what to do. I don’t know whether to be concerned or not. I guess I could contact my sales associate or reach out to a sales center but my experience tells me that I won’t get anywhere doing that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I bet you a donut that the only simple mechanism in their CRM workflow that can trigger "resend contract to customer" is "change requested" and they used that button.

That makes a lot of sense, but it doesn't explain why I didn't get a second email for the other order?

That said, I did email my SA and this time he sent an email back almost immediately telling me the email was because my DE is in production. Color me skeptical, but also cautiously optimistic? Honestly, there's a piece of me that still wanted to at least have a test drive before committing the $140K, but hey, YOLO.

A lot of us got the same modification email, with no modification. My bet is the email getting sent was a bug.

I mentioned earlier that I sent my rep an email to modify my order. Soren is very responsive. She wrote me back this afternoon and made the two changes for me. It was reflected in my order within minutes. I was going to meet her in Kalamazoo (1/2 way between where I live and Chicago) on the 28th to test drive a Lucid Air, simply to get inside a Lucid. But now that they are showing up in showrooms, it's probably better to just wait and go to Chicago and test drive the Gravity itself in a month or so. As for myy rep, I hope that her interactions with me continue throughout the process. When I bought my Chevy Volt in 2010 the service was impeccable. Constant updates, constant contact, and a dedicated rep for pre and for years post-purchase. Was the best car-buying experience I had ever had.
