Gravity Delivery Discussion

Motor Intelligence, itself, may very well be trustworthy and right! But in order to find that out we’d have to understand what their categories and numbers mean, and I have not found a reputable source for that yet.
Assuming Motor Intelligence is trustworthy, I think it's fair to believe the Gravity is a truck by their metrics. If you look at the Tesla numbers, the "truck" number is clearly including X+Y(+CT) as it's larger than the "car" number (S+3).

Based on what we've seen in the forum, it's also reasonable to believe that Lucid hasn't registered any Gravity sales in May. There are two that we know of, and it seems they were registered in April. According to this snapshot, Lucid actually had 5 truck sales in April... so there are 3 we don't know about here: https://web.archive.org/web/20250527085302/https://www.motorintelligence.com/

Maybe they just want to make a big splash in June?

Maybe Lucid was breaking the law? They don't offer factory tint right now. I always thought it was illegal because I've never seen it as a factory option.
We might be speaking past each other; it’s not an option, but the glass comes tinted from the factory. I’m not sure if we’re talking about the same thing?

I’m referring to: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Factory_tint

Which is absolutely legal for the rear of cars; just not the windshield, as some states prohibit it. It is also not removable, as it is dyed at the factory, rather than a film.

Every single Air sold to date comes with factory tinted rear glass, to my knowledge.

They are estimating. They have no idea, and are doing their best to guess; not faulting them, but it means it can’t exactly be relied upon.
  • Multiple Data Sources:
We use a mix of registration data, online resources, and internal communications with manufacturers. This multi-pronged approach ensures our estimates are grounded in the most reliable and current information available.
  • Incorporating Trends and Market Signals:
Beyond raw numbers, our analysts consider broader market trends such as sales patterns, news updates, and analyst reports. For example, when estimating Tesla’s inventory, we include insights from historical sales trends, relevant news, and targeted inventory checks.
  • Handling Incomplete Data:
For brands that only release quarterly actual sales numbers, we generate monthly estimates that are later re-adjusted at the end of the quarter. This allows us to provide timely estimates while ensuring that they remain aligned with the most accurate, up-to-date data.
So basically, they’ll know at the end of the quarter, just like we will, and everything up until that point is a (perhaps mostly accurate) speculative guess.

Does that seem like a valid interpretation?

What's more interesting are the numbers of:
- Jan 2025: 50 units (https://web.archive.org/web/20250527085302/https://www.motorintelligence.com/)
- Feb 2025: 55 units (https://web.archive.org/web/20250323110456/https://www.motorintelligence.com/)
- Mar 2025: 30 units (https://web.archive.org/web/20250424003740/https://www.motorintelligence.com/)
- Apr 2025: 5
- May 2025: 0

Could those 135 be the KSA units?

Based on what you said above about how they estimate, it feels to me like at the very least they are rounding to the nearest 5.

Next earnings call is early August, probably. So just mark your calendars for that date as it relates to next time we get legit info.

They’ve missed the Q2/June window for meaningful delivers unless they’re suddenly going to call 100+ people and tell them to get their financing/cash ready by 6/30…highly unlikely.

We're talking about the same thing, I wasn't specific enough. I think the limit is 70% light transmission for cars which is a very light tint and some people might not even notice it. The Gravity windows are much darker.

In CA, for example, that is only true for the front side windows (and windshield).

For the rear windows, any tint is allowed.

I don’t think this is a thing, and I cannot find a source for it.

I'm talking about what is legal for new cars not what can be added afterwards.
It's definitely a thing that almost every new SUV has dark rear tint whereas cars don't. I thought it was a regulatory issue but I'm not sure how much time I want to spend on this. lol.

The super intelligence agrees with me (not that I trust it, it looks like it might be hallucinating like me)

They do exist, in the middle is my Fathom Blue Air Touring I dropped off a Lucid Service today for annual check and in prep for our summer road trip. Under covers is a DE delivery. Right is a 21/22 in Aurora Green/Tahoe going to the Studio as the test drive car, the other I couldn't get a good look at I believe is a customer car.

Which studio is this?

The numbers that came out today
April 2025 Cars: 2.88M Trucks: 14.38M
May 2025 Cars: 2.58M Trucks: 13.07M

So everything is down, and it appears everything that isn't a sedan, coupe is a Truck.

Did someone there tell you that the Gravity under the cover is a Dream Edition for a customer? Could you determine what color it is or which interior it has? Thanks for the picts!

Wow! Interesting and convoluted all at the same time.

Feel sorry for the people waiting for the Touring. We’ll probably see what happened with the slow roll out of the Air models, people will simply move onto something else.
I disagree, Gravity has no equal. Only 3 seater that comes to mind is the Kia EV9, but thats a dud. Model X is of course a dinosaur.

Whoa; where did you get the 600 number from? We've seen a few hundred in the flyovers, by 600 indicates a pretty serious production rate.
It was announced by the CEO, I think during earmings call. It was 600 vehicles...not sure how many were Gravity.

Yes, because it worked out real well for Lucid with those 35,000 Air reservations didn’t it. Could have had the same argument about the Air having no equal but when you drag your feet, people clearly move on.
