Gravity Delivery Discussion

Got the call Tuesday, June 3, that the Oakbrook show room got a showroom only gravity available to check out. On Wednesday, June 4, spent an hour checking out the gravity. The showroom gravity is a seven seater, hud and was set to max ground clearance. My order is for the 5 seater so I did not attempt to sit in the third row. I will appreciate having the extra storage space in back to store my dog ladder instead of third row seating. My order excludes hud. The steering wheel can be adjusted in, out, up and down so the lcd screens can be in full view. The rear view mirror seams small. Though I am spoiled by having a large video feed rear view mirror in my Subaru outback where I can see 5 lanes. Video feed rear view mirrors are also unobstructed from dogs that like to sit in the center of the second row seating. Overall the gravity is comfortable to sit in. Large amount of storage space in the center console and glove box. The massage chair feature will be much appreciated on road trips. Even though the June 7th nation wide event is billed as an “air” event, I was hoping/expecting that many more lucid showrooms would have gravitys.

I had mobile service out to do my seasonal wheel swap this morning
The tech said today is the first day they are allowed to make Gravity deliveries
He said there were 4 of the the at Goose Island

I got a call yesterday from my SA telling me that they had a car just like mine (cough) due to people canceling their orders. Then he listed the differences:
  • Tahoe interior instead of Yosemite
    • (the popular option, but for me, not interested)
  • 21" or 22" wheels instead of 20"
    • (not interested)
  • No tech package
    • (yes, we know about this, not interested and I've already confirmed that point with him a month ago)
  • No power package
    • (not the part of Tech pkg that I was wanting anyway, so not an issue for me)
I feel like there was one other difference, but I don't remember it off-hand. The call woke me up during my Sunday morning beauty sleep.

At this point I'm thinking of potentially "canceling" my order to put it on hold(1), not because I don't want it, but because I have no urgent time frame and don't want to be hounded about getting one ASAP. I'm willing to wait until late 2025-early 2026 to pull the trigger. The main things I'm waiting on:
  • No urgency as I have a different "new toy" car to play with for the next few months (that I got due to my deadline that the Gravity missed)
  • I want to do a real test drive, not the "around the block ride holding the steering wheel" that they provided me (can haz Skyline test drive?)
  • I want to see Ojai in person to see if maybe I want to switch to it
  • I wouldn't mind seeing Lunar Titanium in person again
I don't doubt that this will be my "forever car(2)" at some point, but I don't have a lot of urgency any more.

(1 - if I can as it was turned into a DE for about a month before they missed my deadlines and I turned it back into a GT)
(2 - "forever" is about 7-10 years for me)
There's a (pre-production) Lunar Titanium on display at Lucid HQ in Newark

I disagree, Gravity has no equal. Only 3 seater that comes to mind is the Kia EV9, but thats a dud. Model X is of course a dinosaur.
Escalade IQ, Visitiq, EX-90, Ioniq 9, R1S. All 3 rows. And we happen to really like my wife’s EV9! Super solid charging curve and very comfortable and nice but not on the same level as Gravity.

Kyle OOS liked the Ioniq 9 for its value and roominess, EX90 for its euro-sophistication, R1S for its offroad capability, Vistiq for Cadillac brand fans.

Remember, these aforementioned competitive 3 row EV SUVs are considerably less expensive than the Gravity. Together, these 3 models have shipped more than 70,000 units already.

When I bought my 2023 R1S in Oct 2023, after the $7,500 EV tax credit, it was less than 1/2 the price of the upcoming Gravity!

As nice as the Gravity is, its share of the 3 row EV SUV market will liely be below 10-15% of tthe TAM in the next 3 years.

I find it interesting that almost all of the show cars are Aurora Green. Lucid must feel this color looks best to prospective buyers. The few videos I’ve seen of it in black looks really good to my eye. I don’t know what color the one at KOP will be Saturday, but I’m guessing it will also be Aurora Green.
Will you please post an update after your KoP visit? Thx!

I couldn’t find a description of whether Gravity would be classified as a truck or car, and I couldn’t find their source. Can you?
I thought the VIN has the classification in it. I remember trying to figure out how Porsche classified my Taycan for tax reasons, because Subaru classified their Outback as a crossover, and Porsche decided the Taycan Cross Turismo is a car. I thought when I was doing this research, it came down to the info was in the VIN. I believe one part of the VIN has classification/class in it.

Sorry, it's been a few years, completely forgotten which part, but I'm sure most VIN decoder sites will have this info.

Did someone there tell you that the Gravity under the cover is a Dream Edition for a customer? Could you determine what color it is or which interior it has? Thanks for the picts!
Yes the Service Manager told me it was Dream Edition, I took the picture to obscure the name card on the roof, it was scheduled that day for pickup. No idea what the config was, but odds are high of Aurora Green/Tahoe 22/23 in wheels.

Then someone is getting their GDE very soon if they haven't already! Some positive news for those of you waiting for delivery.

I did another flyover of the factory today. It looks like more Gravity on the staging lots but there is no good way to count. It is also impossible to tell what has been shipped.

It's hard to tell on the black ones, but I count at least 43 US-charging green. Not enough detail to see if there is DE badging.

I got the call from my SA that my GDE just entered production and got a VIN assigned. She said 1-2 weeks likely for delivery.
That makes no sense. My GDE entered production over a month ago and still hasn't been completed. I keep checking for software updates and all I get is this, meaning my vehicle hasn't been completed yet. I ordered the very first day, Aurora Green, Stealth, Tahoe, 22/23 which supposedly is one of the most popular builds. I was told early May that my car would be "factory gate" in 2 weeks with delivery within 2 weeks after that. I'm sure your SA is passing along info as did mine, but ultimately that information was nowhere near accurate. I'm in San Diego so I would think delivery would be relatively quick after completion. Has anyone else seen this page updated from the screen below to actually having data. I know of at least a few.

I did Aurora Green, Stealth, Tahoe, and 20/21" wheels. Also in San Diego. I did the GGT reservation first week of the opening and then switched to GDE. I am not 100% sure on the delivery times but that was just what the SA told me.

Those delivery times they are giving are kinda all over the place. Got my VIN last week and my SA was predicting more like 10 weeks. Just gonna kick back and just be happy it's being built and anything ahead of that 10 weeks would be golden. I hope yours is closer to right tho!
