First day Gravity GT First Impressions:
Let me start by saying that this vehicle has been everything it was promised and then some! Amazing looking, stunning quality and feel to every surface in the vehicle and the Tahoe interior is definitely not as orange as many pics have made it out to be, just like it’s not as mini-vanish as pics make it out, it’s much more tan and a great contrast to the black vehicle color. It drives like my Taycan did in taking turns at silly fast speeds and hitting those exit/entrance ramps at bonkers speed. Accelerates so smooth but yet so violent, even in the smooth setting! It’s crazy! Constantly leaving traffic behind at lights without trying, but it always feels in total control. I honestly couldn’t imagine the extra DE power at this point be there’s just so much available with the GT, but I’m sure its just a crazy blast! Got lots of folks wondering what it is and curiously driving up or walking by in the parking lots. It has just been a wonderful first day with the Gravity and I am super confident I made the right choice with this over the likes of the Escalade or Vistiq.
Now for the negative, YES, the software bugs are DEFINIETLY there! Disappearing apps like Sirius XM and Spotify, but like others have said, profile swap fixes it but it has come back around a few times. The fob has a couple of times lost connection and moving it did nothing to remedy it, had to use the card. One time the backup camera wouldn’t turn on and when I parked at the post office and got back in, the car refused to go into reverse, but could go into drive. I did the software reset and that cleared both issues up right there and so far, it has not returned. Please note that my car is still on 3.2.0 software and does not have the option to update to 3.2.1, so I’m going to give it a few days I guess to try to download it and after that, contact Lucid for it. I’m sure that’ll fix a lot of the issues.
For the fit and finish, my son and i could find nothing but very minor stuff that I wouldn’t bother with on the exterior, but there are some squeaks and rattles inside around the steering wheel and also the front wheel well when turning at certain speeds. Nothing to big or uncommon from other cars I’ve owned, but I will ask to have it looked at. Also the biggest issue is the third row, when put away in sub storage, it does not seem to latch down and want to stay down there, even with the cover on it. It looks fine, but going over big bumps and it pops up a bit and I get a warning on the dash to latch it down properly. This may be ENTIRELY user error, so I’m willing to read the manual and do a bit more playing around, but if anyone has any ideas what I may be doing wrong, I’m open to suggestions. Otherwise I’ll add it to the list for Lucid to look at.
So overall, while not a perfect experience, and partly bc I was expecting these bugs by reading what the other owners have gone thru, my expectations were tempered and patience high, so none of it phased me really as I knew what would likely fix the bugs, but 95% of what I’ve experienced day one has been just phenomenal. I have every confidence Lucid will continue to work thru the bugs and squeaks and I am excitedly waiting for the unreleased stuff like CarPlay, Face Identification and hands free driving for when we take our first big road trip in December. This car has got to be up for best of the year, assuming they work out the kinks and can get more of them out the door faster! Happy motoring y’all!
