. . . if you pressed what is basically an analog switch for the reading light and that also turned on ambient lighting which is controlled by software, it almost sounds to me like a wiring gremlin somewhere that has too high resistance, but opening the circuit by pressing the overhead lamp switch overcame the resistance and then the lights were able to be controlled like normal. I don’t think mobile service can solve your issues, they need to take your car apart.
I didn't press the analog switch for the lights in the rearview mirror mounting module. It was the Quick Control button on the Pilot Screen for "Reading Lights" that turns lights on throughout the cabin.
We've had so many incidents of software-based features turning on and off spontaneously that I'm praying their fixes will ultimately lie in the software. The thought of having to take the car apart makes my blood run cold, partly because I fear you may be right the way things are going. Apparently I'm already in for having the dash pulled out to replace the HUD unit, and there's still no word on whether the ACU is going to have to come out to address the navigation system problems or whether the second row seats will have to be replaced to deal with the noise there.
I'm sort of braced for the long haul we had with getting the early-production Air Dream sorted out into the fine car it now is, but I'm certainly in no hurry for the second Gravity Dream to get here with this many problems. As slow as the production ramp has been, I think it's still been too hurried.
