Gravity Bugs / Issues

FWIW, the 2026 EX90 and Polestar 3 will have 800V electrical systems and native NACS. I have no idea if range will be improved.
The electrical volt “battle” reminds me of Spinal Tap. Like, I think 800V is “10” but the Gravity is 926V which is like “11”…😀

I actually considered getting EX90. I test drove it. Very quiet ride, B&W sounded amazing, I liked the seats, the minimalist style (except shared buttons for rolling windows), and I REALLY loved the Android Automotive (as a Google Maps and Android user). But then I had a chance to see Gravity in Lucid Studio and it made EX90 look like a toy... but what really killed the EX90 for me were multiple lemon stories in Facebook groups and Reddit. What a shame.
To be fair, a lot of people looking at the various Lucid forums around the internet might also decide that a Gravity should be avoided due to the number of lemon stories. I don't know anything about what Volvo is doing with the EX90. Maybe there are Volvo enthusiasts who are adopting the same patient attitude to the EX90s growing pains that you see from some in this forum about the Gravity.

There’s one right here I posted on. https://www.reddit.com/r/VolvoEX90/s/mQM9vFdM5v

I think it just comes down to Gravity owners perhaps being more adventurous. Volvos are great, I own one, but they are far from exciting and feel less risky, but at least basics are solid and Google Maps native really is unbeatable as in car navigation. But Lucid is like getting a chance to step into the future and is much more visionary. Like ok yeah sometimes the doors don’t open but if you can manage to drive the car it destroys all the competition and you can fit a U-Haul worth of stuff in it park it effortlessly.

That's fair, but so far I didn't see anything that compares to what I've read about EX90s. There were multiple folks having EX90 serviced for 3+ months in 6 months of ownership. I joined a few different groups (EX90, MB EQS, Lucid) and the amount of major issues reported for EX90 was more than combined issues from other two (is it possible that there are more EX90 owners than EQS?). Maybe I'm overreacting, but for me that was too many cases and I decided not to risk it. I was thinking about waiting for updated 2026, but then I came across Gravity and I might stick with it.
@hmp10's Gravity is probably the biggest oof so far + one story that someone had to reschedule flight because the car couldn't detect the key (popular issue with EX90's too, but many were caused by dead 12v battery). I'm not getting HUD so the biggest for me issue is related to keys. I'm trying to monitor this one as much as possible.
But I wouldn't be surprised that after reading Gravity key issues this car might be dead to someone who got burned by EX90's key issues (aka never again).

Edit: A post from a few hours ago. I see a couple of posts like that every week.

Yeah it does seem there’s much more “dead car for a long time” issues with EX90 whereas Gravity ones are more transient and random.

My GGT order has the HUD option. I vacillate back and forth between thinking that I should keep the HUD and revising my order to take it off. One part of me wants to accelerate how quickly they'll hook me up with a vehicle, and another thinks it's good the HUD will make me wait before getting a vehicle, and perhaps more of the issues will be resolved. Recent news about production of white Gravities is making me sorely tempted to revise my order, and hope that results in a delivery in September.

It’s an easy question to answer: how soon do you need the car? If you need it sooner change the order to a spec you might get sooner. If it’s just FOMO, wait in line to get the spec you really want. I personally am having a lot of FOMO for not having my Gravity DE yet, but I don’t need it by a certain date so I’ll just slum it in my Air GT until it’s my turn in the production line.

“Slumming it” in a AGT…

*Privilege Check Completed*

XD

Had the Orange Triangle of Mystery light come on today randomly on the screen on my way home. No warning message popped up, nothing was under the notification bell thingy, and car was functioning normally. Got home and did a quick reboot and it's gone now. Thoughts?

And while I'm on the subject of warning lights in the same spot, I've seen the red Airbag icon light come on briefly and then turn back off a few times (maybe 2 or 3 times total and lasts for a few seconds). I can't say that I've tested the airbag functionality, thankfully.

the Google Android Auto SW in the Polestar 2 rental I had was SOOOOO bad. Super slow and buggy.

I had the same thing. Gone after a reboot so I'm not worrying about it

I get it from time to time and I have not been able to find anything wrong and no message about it. It goes away on next time I start the car or eventually while driving.

I've had this happen when for some reason Gravity randomly selected the guest profile. This has happened even when the key fob was recognized (I did not use the key card). Switching to my profile (why does switching take so long?) restores all of my settings as one would expect.
I think the mobile app may be the source of the problem. I’ve had this happen randomly 2 or 3 tkmes) and think it’s when I unlock the car from the mobile app it switches to the guest profile.

Doing a road trip so haven’t had time to double check and mess around with it though.

Can't compare the Polestar 3 with the 2 - they are electrically and mechanically unrelated.
The Polestar 3 has an 8-year-newer CPU and more memory. Google maps and the UX in general are quite quick.

I think you'll ultimately enjoy your GDE all the more for having had to wait.

When just driving or riding in the vehicle on the highway it's easily the best road tripping experience I've yet had. The responsiveness to the throttle at high speed is almost unbelievable for a vehicle of this size and form factor. The stability of dynamic maneuvers at all speeds is uncanny, with the rear-wheel steering always punctuating its presence by showing you this car will do things other cars won't in the same circumstances. The absence of noise from wind and other traffic is eerie, with only some tire hum making its way into the cabin. The ride compliance, the roominess, the seating adjustability, the interior styling and materials quality are a constant reminder you're in a world-class cabin. And the audio system and sound stage take you somewhere else when you let it.

But . . . then the music hits a pause and the second-row seat rattle steps back to the fore. This causes you to notice the towel covering the HUD to tame the windshield reflections from a warped screen. You fumble with your cell phone trying to follow a navigation route because the system in the car is frozen and GPS locations won't transmit.

And . . . the bubble of amazement in which you've been driving while you've blocked all this out suddenly collapses, and you're back to ruminating over how long and how many service visits it's going to take to vanquish these gremlins.

As much as I'm itching to get our second GDE with the larger wheels and those Pirelli PZ5 tires to see what more driving magic the Gravity can deliver, if I got a call tomorrow telling me the car was on the way, I'd ask them to let someone else have it and put us further back in the queue until the production issues are worked out. I know they will be, but living with Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde meanwhile is getting exhausting.

I mean, what are the chances that both your GDE are plagued with the same issues. Take delivery of your 2nd one and find a whole new set of stuff to be exasperated about!

Based on my history with the Air and now the GDE, pretty good.

But I do keep coming back for more. The cars are just so damned good once they're sorted out.

Never forget all Volvos are Chinese vehicles. Don’t let the Volvo badging fool you. The Chinese subsidize their automobile manufacturing with the goal of eliminating all western manufacturers. If you have a hard time believing this just look at all the industries they have captured with this model. Rare earths for magnets, steel for everything, consumer electronics, solar panels and on and on.

I have a GGT on order, but keep thinking maybe I should change to Dream edition. Can’t make up my mind.
While I like the hp, I don’t like the lower range, which may be clinically insignificant as we now have access to Tesla SC. The color we want is not available for Dream, but it’s not a big deal. Green is acceptable.
And do I really need the extra power? How does that translate into daily commute?
The price difference isn’t that much if that’s spread over 5 years. But on the other hand, that money can be invested.
And do I want to get delivery now with the hiccups reported in the forum?
I know there are members switching between these 2 trims, and would love to hear your thought process.
