Gravity Bugs / Issues

I assume you've reset/set the preferred units in your profile and so forth.

Yes I did that when we reset the profiles during the mobile tech visit. My partner is Polish, so we set his profile to metric displays and mine to Imperial displays. The displays of speed, temperature, and range all track accordingly for each profile. It's only the posted speed limit display that doesn't. (We did have an earlier problem with the temperature on the front and second-row screens flipping spontaneously between C and F, but that problem disappeared along the way with one of the resets done for something else.)

I'm guessing they re-pushed 3.2.2 and you've done a factory reset . . .

I'm not sure. The mobile tech tried to fix the frozen nav location problem be repushing one of the software program modules. However, that didn't work and he had to get on the phone with someone from the HQ software team. After a few minutes I left them to it, and the tech remained in the car on his laptop while talking to the software team for a considerable time. When I came back to the car, the mobile tech said they were opening a case on the issue and had to get someone from the ADAS team involved. He then said they might have to reflash or replace the ACU but would not make a decision until the case investigation proceeded further. As of yesterday, he's had no response back.

we have this as well and it was sending me over the edge. I tried moving the left seat up 1/4” and it was still present. I put it back ave moved the right seat up 1/4” and still present. Oddly, what mostly cured it was our daughter riding in the backseat for one drive. It is still there but just when we are on an especially rough road or section. Not sure it will help but maybe try using the back seat (if you haven’t) and see if that helps.

We've done variations of all this. The problem does disappear when someone is sitting in the driver-side second-row seat, but it returns when the seat is empty. We have tried putting the seats in several different positions, some of which give a temporary respite before the squeaking/rattling sets in again. (It's a combination of a high-pitched squeak as if leather might be rubbing something and a metallic clinking sound.) The mobile tech checked the torque settings of some of the mounting bolts and said they were in spec. We went on a test drive afterward, and for a few minutes the problem seemed solved. Then it suddenly returned while we were still driving. So he spent some further time trying to tighten more difficult to reach bolts, but to no avail. He said he put in a request for Lucid to replace the second row, but they still haven't responded to him.

You may recall my post about how I was able to fix the 2nd row noises... The way I came to my particular solution to fix the problem involved me getting into the 2nd row and basically sitting in all three 3 of the seats while aggressively wobbling and bouncing around a bit to replicate the noise...then I realized that there was a position I could place both seats in at the same time to fix it. The positioning of my seats that fixed it may be unique to my car...you may be able to find a different combo of positions to fix the issue in yours. It's worth a try and honestly only took me a minute or two to find the sweet spot.

Do you have to go through this drill every time a second-row passenger adjusts the seat? Or when the seats are moved forward to access the third row? (They return to a preset position when the backrest button is pressed again, but not to the custom position you might have set.)

I assume you view this as a temporary measure and not something you're going to live with in a vehicle this expensive?

That’s good that weight in driver side 2nd row seat fixes it as that’s where my kid’s car seat will go. I may not need service to look at it ever haha.

I think the speed limit sign recognition was incorrectly interpreting the number on the sign as KPH, and displaying that speed in MPH.

Someone pointed out that 30KPH is closer to 19MPH (18.6), but that would be slightly over the limit, so they would rather display the integer closest but less than the computed speed limit.

Yes, that does track with what we're seeing. But it's one of the weirdest -- but certainly not the worst -- of the many software issues I've seen with Lucids.

Well, assuming your noises emanate from the same cause or location as ours. And I don't know how much weight it takes to tame it. None of our friends who've been back there are exactly featherweights.

We also noticed 2nd row squeak (not rattle) on our Montreal road trip on the way up, but not on the way back. We had our friends in the vehicle while driving around Quebec, so having had weight on the seat and seat position are definitely contributory. I suspect this relates to the incredibly complex folding mechanism and where the different bits of upholstery end up each time, so will be difficult to diagnose properly.

Oh, we also confirmed that the 3rd row vents do work quite well, and just require the 3rd row being occupied! That's a relief from a service perspective, but I hope there is an override. When we have dogs we have very large dogs, and they sit on beds in the cargo area. I would like to have the vents working back there even with the 3rd row folded.

I would imagine any relatively large part replacements - like second row seats - will take many months before they happen. I had a similar issue in my 2016 X and Tesla just couldn’t/wouldn’t make extra parts - every part goes to a new sale. I get it, but it sucks.

@hmp10 Kind of goes to your point about being ready and able to service the Gravity that have been delivered. Everything I am hearing about service sounds like Tesla service in 2013. I hope Lucid can keep a high level of service. Anyone who has a Tesla knows that service is now awful.

I'm surprised people are getting mobile visits. We spoke with Beverly Hills and they said we have to bring the car in.

We have had prompt and excellent mobile service since we got our first Lucid in late 2021. It's one of the reasons I was willing to risk another round of early-production woes with the Gravity. I just hope Lucid realizes how critical their service network is to keeping the brand afloat in this traction-building stage for the brand.

My own solution to these issues was to change my gravity order to Lunar Titanium, hoping to push delivery out several months and will size up the landscape then.

Got a mobile visit coming up next week. We are also a couple hundred miles away from Lucid service in Atlanta, so it'll have to be mobile for us.

Perhaps a dumb question, but if your car goes to SC, do you get a loaner? I hate the Uber credits I get on our X.

I think "most" locations if not all have loaners now. You do need to request that you want one though as just showing up and expecting one they could all be gone. Beverly Hills is my closest Service Center and has always given me a Lucid loaner for probably over 2 years now. In the early days it was rentals and Uber credits etc. everywhere.

Costa Mesa did not have a loaner to offer me. I have other vehicles so I'm happy that they picked mine up in San Diego and I didn't have to make the drive up there.

I just got a call from our mobile tech. He said Lucid has determined our Gravity has to go to a service center for replacement of the HUD unit and possibly of the second-row seat. He said that at this point there are no serviceable parts in the seats and that, unless the service center happens to stumble on something they can find loose, it will mean a new seat. (He added that that remains the case even today with Air seats: no serviceable parts and seat replacement if anything goes wrong with one.)

They are thinking the frozen navigation system is due to the car failing to transmit its location and can probably be addressed with software corrections, but not ones that can be done by mobile service.

Regarding the car's confusion between Imperial and metric data display, he said Lucid is adding it to the list of software problems that are still emerging and will be addressed through software updates at some point.

As I would prefer to deal with the HUD, navigation, and noisy seats in one visit to a service center (which is across the state), I asked about current availability of parts. He said the mobile techs aren't given any information about that, with parts managers at service centers usually having more information.
