Too Frustrating

Okay, I’m a verified owner.
This is actually an important point for forum members who are making a complaint. They may not get the benefit of the doubt if they don't verify their ownership. You will occasionally see a rave by someone who isn't verified and seems to be making a tangential point to slam the entire Lucid experience. Doesn't sound like OP is one of these, but just wanted to make a PSA to get your Lucid ownership verified. The tone of the replies will also become more civil, generally. YMMV.
I think a lot of us get sucked in because it is a beautiful car and it drives great.
This actually is the statement that verified members look for to ensure that the OP or someone replying has their feet firmly grounded in reality. 😀

I think that when someone comes in here with questions or frustrations about their new Lucid purchase and is seeking insight, it is a whole different situation and someone who comes in here on their first post and just trashes the company up and down. People in the former category get lots of help and suggestions from the community. People in the latter category are just looking for a fight.

I think you pretty much hit that nail on the head...

Beyond that... I do gringe when I see threads from non-verified owners with extremely general negative banners like 'Too Frustrating', 'Starting to regret getting this car', and '$30K Lease for a Car I Can’t Drive — Lucid Ghosted Me', as it makes me (quite possibly unfairly) question their motives. Even more so when the statements therein make one wonder how much they actually know about the vehicle or the company. Then, other forum members efforts to either resolve, clarify, counter, or dispute the statements made keep that negative banner at the top of the heap as nauseum, while other more helpful questions, comments or criticisms quickly get lost in the sauce.

I don't have a simple answer. All I know is that I question how productive it is to reply to overarching negative comments made by people who have not even taken the time to document their ownership.

Agreed. What you describe is outright "trolling" and I think we all have seen plenty of that on other platforms. Trolls deserve to be "outed" IMO.

Lately it feels like there’s a pattern in here that’s worth mentioning. Some folks come in and post complaint after complaint about Lucid, without ever balancing it out with anything constructive or positive. That’s fine, everyone’s entitled to share their frustrations, but what’s odd is that when others point out this repeated negativity, suddenly those people get labeled as “rude” or “dismissive.”

It seems a little one-sided. If it’s okay for someone to voice the same criticism over and over again, then it should also be okay for others to call out that behavior without being unfairly branded. Healthy discussion goes both ways, venting frustrations and recognizing positives, otherwise it starts feeling less like a community and more like an echo chamber of complaints.

I'm not twisting anything. The word "reliable" was mentioned in the sentence that you responded to by saying who cares. I just reacted to what I perceived as a pretty defensive and provocative comment. The OP mentioned in his first post that the satellite radio works half the time - it's part of the thread.

And I agree that the sound system seems to be fine for some, but for many others it isn't. It's an issue plain and simple. I had a loaner in the first few weeks of purchasing mine because the section of the display panel that controls audio went out. I had a loaner and didn't have any issues with the radio for a month so perhaps it's hit and miss.
This wasn't a response to the OP it was a response to someone who continually posts negative comments and seems to think they could do a better job at running Lucid. We've known for years that the car doesn't come with a satellite antenna and has been covered in here in many threads but yet they continue to try and beat a dead horse. At some point you need to wonder if they're just in here to rile people up.

SiriusXM isn’t satellite radio in the traditional sense, it relies on internet connectivity.
Oh shit, I didn't know that!! So no SXM antenna in the Gravity?? Damnit, that's gonna be a huge downgrade for us. This is gonna be our road-tripper vehicle. We use SXM 99.8% of the time. I just assumed any good car would have it built in.

🤬

It is pretty interesting how many people like SXM. I think it’s garbage, and prefer Apple Music and Tidal (for the Dolby).

To each their own.

I note that Tesla also uses streaming based SXM, like the Lucid. So if you’re coming from Tesla your experience will be the same.

I think a fair few people get it for the sports. For music, it's absolute trash, each station seems to have a 1 hour playlist of songs that they just constantly put on repeat. Also, Sirius does a pretty good job at giving you the subscription for next to nothing so $5 a month for 12 months or something with 200 channels can be appealing to some.

I listen to it a bit and for sports and have very few issues getting a "signal" thru the internet connection Gravity uses. It actually works in areas where I would typically loose satellite signal. It's just the antenna that's not in the car. XM is an integrated app in Gravity. Your family should be fine listening to it on road trips.

Posting question and negative findings is different from bashing.

OG posted more than an a month ago praising Tesla, bashing Lucid and just disappeared. Gravity and Model S are not even the same class of cars.

Imagine if we go on Tesla group "Too Frustrating" about no improvement on charging speed, why Gravity can fast charge but Tesla can't do that even on its own network.

Why Models X can't handle curves and ride like Air etc, this is exactly what OG is doing and that's called bashing.

While group member tries to help and answers questions, no one owes him or her anything.

But you can't stream with no cell service. Road trip frequently across the empty stretches of WY, UT, NV, etc and streaming is useless for hours at a time, except for a few minutes passing thru a town.

We're coming from a Mustang Mach-E and a Porsche Macan EV.

Don’t twist it. They were specifically talking about internet being used over the XM antenna which has been beaten to death. While some people experience issues, many can attest in here that there’s nothing wrong with the sound system.
I have never bothered with XM due to the high compression/low bit rate crap audio quality. Just junk. Understand the interest in the content though.
Tidal was opposite. A hideous app with good sound quality. Settled on Apple CarPlay/Music for a predictable experience...

I do wish Lucid would just implement native Apple Music into the car.

It's more than an hour but yes, there are repeats if you listen to it frequently (radio stations do the same). It's a Catch-22... you tune to a station because you like those songs. But if they only play one of your favorite songs once a week, you're likely to never hear it.

The main value is in having lots of stations to easily flip between with one click of the Seek button on the steering wheel. When a song comes on I don't care as much for (or repeated too much), I just flip to another station. And it starts from the beginning of the song, which is great. It's not the highest sound quality, which some people are really annoyed by. But for the rest of us it's still plenty good enough. Especially for the older music we're usually listening too (60s/70s/80s mostly).

And of course there's the non-music stuff too (sports, news, talk). Sounds quality is a non-factor for those.

Perhaps the best feature is getting all those channels in one interface that are easy to flip between. Having to stream something through the phone takes more steps, and is not nearly as easy to flip between 5 channels in 20 seconds. The interface is a big part of the experience. Similar to trying to replace cable TV at home. Much harder to quickly flip between channels/feeds without that interface.

Perhaps you can answer this for me... When apps like Apple Music or Spotify play through your phone as opposed to a native app, is some of the SSP functionality lost? I don't seem to notice a difference on Spotify, but I admit to having a tin ear.

That varies greatly based on where you road trip though. That's probably true in your area, but not for the vast stretches of WY, UT, NV, CO, etc that we frequent. Lots of dead spots for long stretches through the desert and prairie and mountains.

Spotify doesn’t do any form of Surreal Sound or Atmos. Apple Music doesn’t do Atmos or Surreal Sound over CarPlay

Thanks. So, if you play Apple Music over your phone, but not using Carplay, you get both Atmos and Surround Sound? I'm curious, because Apple Music is soon to be a bundled perk of my Chase Sapphire Reserve Card.

Whether you’re playing over Bluetooth or Wifi (CarPlay) it’s not supported by Apple at all. Hence why a native App would be better

Porsche Macan EV also uses cellular to stream SXM. Mach-E has a cellular modem SXM on most models and the shark fin antenna for satellite says Mach-E Forum.

Honestly download some Apple Music playlists for those car rides. That’s what I do. I love road trips but SXM isn’t needed in the Air.
