Doors painfully slow to unlock…

I was just told by upper level tech to only use Panasonic batteries in the fob. I question them on this and he said it’s just the way that it is had numerous problems with my fob using energizers. I will advise how the new batteries seem to perform.

I've taken to tapping my iPhone on the drivers side B-pillar, just above the camera window, to unlock the car. There seems to be something in the process of the RFID readers interacting that wakes up both the car and the phone to start the unlock process, even though the RFID isn't used as the key. It's been the most reliable and consistent way to use the mobile key that I've found.

Have you tried taking out your phone and wiggling it around somewhere other than the B-pillar? I doubt there's any NFC interaction going on, my experience is that it just takes giving the phone a good wiggle. The phone has to wake up to then ask the car to wake up.

Tesla app just works….hope Lucid fixes this soon.

I have both iphone and android due to work.
Honestly the iphone is far more reliable as a key. The car senses my iphone every time, which is really irritating considering my personal phone is the android. I have noticed that Bluetooth in general can be finicky and repairing the phone and car often improves the issue. This is the same experience I have with other Bluetooth devices like ear buds and occasionally needing to re-pair with other car brands too.

I recently upgraded to iPhone 16 Pro hoping to God that somehow my Bluetooth signal would be better and door unlocking would be better. Unfortunately, nothing has changed and I still have to routinely wait outside my car for 5+ seconds for it to unlock, rain or shine.

I just want my car to lock and unlock like when I was 16 and had my first car. I can't wait to have a car again with a simple key fob once my lease is up.

And yes, service has looked at it and yes, I've tried every battery in the key fob. This is a fundamental engineering flaw.

Once i enter the garage I see my car opening up before I am near it

But if I do not approach it in like 15 seconds it will close, then open again on and off as you all know

I have AGT 23

You’re discussing different things; the mobile key can be a bit iffy due to Apple turning Bluetooth sensing off during periods of inactivity.

The fob works immediately; if it doesn’t, you need to have service look at your security nodes to see if there are issues. The fob should work pretty flawlessly.

even "professional" reviewers don't understand how the key fob works (taking to you, Kyle). I have to wonder if Lucid employees know how it works.
They might think they do, but seem unable to explain it to Kyle.

The fob, when in range (like when you are standing next to your car filming a video about how much you don't know about Lucid), sends a signal to the car:

"Hey, I'm here." and unlocks the car.
Then if you don't get in it locks the car.
Then if you are still in range it unlocks,
but it you don't get in it locks,
but if you stay by the car it unlocks,
but if you don't get in it locks .....
over and over until the fob battery is dead. Watch Kyle's video and see this happening. He's mystified, and apparently, so is Lucid.

The phone app will do this too, so turn it off if you aren't going to get in the car; don't just stand there foolishly, like Kyle. Also Kyle, the driver's seat fully retracts if when you exit the car if you turn this feature on.

If you are going to stand next to your car, and not get in, you need to wrap your fob in foil
or get a Faraday pouch,
and turn the Bluetooth off if you are using the Lucid app on your phone (or close the app running in the background, or turn off Bluetooth).

The fob will try to talk to and unlock then lock your car whenever you are close enough -- even if you are in your house! (ask me how I know).
Keep your fobs far away from the car when not in uses, or just put them in a metal can, or get pouches or just a scrap of Al foil folded over works.

I work in my garage next to my car I keep my fob in a Faraday pouch

People say "tin foil" but don't use TIN (Sn)
use aluminum foil = easier to get. or a metal Altoids can ... or a bit of metal screen = anything (metal) that blocks the radio signal will work.

and have the Lucid phone app off whilst I listen to podcasts with Bluetooth.
The Lucid just sits patiently silent.

fob batteries last well over a year. The batteries in the fob given to your when you took delivery have likely been thru many cycles so don't be surprised if they die on you prematurely. I keep fresh ones in the glovebox but haven't had to use them. Took delivery Sept. 2022. I use both the phone app and the fob = prefer the fob as it fits so nicely in the watch pocket of my jeans = I forget it's there!

We only us the fob, but it is extremely slow. Typically I have to stand by the trunk for 10-15 sec before it will open. After a few weeks the time increases, requiring a battery change. We have buy batteries in bulk. For me, "flawless" seems like a stretch.

Try walking around the side first. The signal is weak at the back.

Wow, that is so unbelievably different than my experience with my fob. I continue to be amazed at the differences owners experience with the same equipment.

There is no security module in the back, or if there is it is weak. If you walk up to the driver door, as an example, and it doesn’t unlock basically immediately, there is something wrong with your car.

it is possible that the battery in your fob is drained and needs replacing. my fob has been flawless and usually opens the car upon approaching the car.

I have a problem with the fob too. The car wakes before I get to the door. Every time.
What is the rush? How do I make it "chill" ? What are you folk doing to slow down the process?
