We should also ignore the fact that my Taycan had to be towed to the shop on 3/22 and is now inoperable with no end in shape while they wait for a part and it is fully inoperable…(20 days so far)

High voltage heater apparently. Went to turn on the car a few weeks ago and it wouldn’t move, gave an electronics error.

Dealer told us it’s a “restricted” part and only orderable with approvals and confirmation the car is inoperable. Quick googling shows it can be 5-7 weeks to get the part. (I’m assuming it comes right from Germany which is part of the delay)

1. Yes
2. I assume it would be absurdly expensive, Porsche is not known for reasonable repair prices
3. After a week we got another Taycan for a loaner. 100% base 4S, which is an odd configuration since it’s missing a bunch of normal features on cars in this price range. (And holy crap, the base leather is terrible compared to the upgraded leather)

Moving on. @hydbob any thoughts on these dashcam batteries? Looks like they use the fuse box but they should also be able to use the 12v adapter. Looks like up to 72hrs of recoding, but maybe longer on motion activated.

I’m also digging up some ribbon usb cables to run from the rear mirror and the rear windscreen into the trunk. The challenge is getting a super long right-angle micro usb connector.

Do you have a picture of what is under that panel? I haven’t been able to get anyone at the studios to lift it off and show me. Also, how easy it it to access the cabin air filters? I know I can get the service vehicle to drive a couple of hours to replace it, but it would be faster to replace it myself.

No but it’s easy to pop off. I’ll do it at some point and get a pic

I haven’t, but been curious. An Arlo wireless camera can run for a long time before needing new batteries, so a wired-with-battery camera could theoretically last a long time if the motion sensing is extremely low power draw.
