Carolinas

Hi Everyone. Anyone know of any plans for EA or other companies to install fast chargers in/around Wilmington, NC? There are ones quite some distance from that city but not high speed ones inside it.

I am interested in purchasing/leasing a Touring, but would at least like to see one or perhaps briefly drive one first. I am in Columbia, SC - is there anyone near here that might let me see their Lucid? Atlanta at ~4 hrs away is a bit far to go, but will do that if I have to.

Thanks in advance. :)

Hi, I am in Charlotte, just picked up my Touring from Tysons Corner. Is there really only one EA charger in the city?

We recently visited friends in Charlotte and found only one EA station in the downtown area, at the corner of South Kings Drive and Charlottetowne Avenue. (However, the EA website gives the street as South King Drive.) We had difficulty locating it, as it's in a cramped Bank of America parking lot alongside the drive-thru banking lanes. We had to troll the area a bit to get eyes on it.

We used it a couple of times and both times found two of the charging posts not working and people having difficulty at other posts getting their EA apps to initiate the charging sessions. (We had picked a hotel because it said it had EV chargers. What it actually had was one Tesla destination charger to which a black Model 3 remained plugged in during our entire two-day stay. So we were stuck with the EA chargers at the bank.)

The EA website does show charging stations a bit further out in the Greater Charlotte area, plus one in Concord. (I'm not familiar with the area so don't really know the lay of the land.)

I live in Denver, NC (Lake Norman) and bought my 2024 Air Touring in July (picked up in Atlanta). Love the car so far but dont see many in the area at all.

I'm on Hilton Head Island. I ordered my 2025 new Pure on 8/30/24 and am awaiting a delivery date. I plan to use a 110V charger in my garage and hope to find EA stations on the road using Plugshare. There are several Tesla high speed chargers near me, but no plug or software compatibility yet from Lucid. Promised for 2025.

I know the Gravity will have the NACS charging compatibility, not sure about the new Airs. If you don't drive very far, I guess a 110V would work. But I know I wouldn't feel it was sufficient for a car like the Air.

There have been some folks that tried 110 charging for 8 hours and ended up with 8 miles because of the energy required to charge the car.

I've used 110V charging while in VT. I'll arrive at ski lodge Friday evening, plug-in and unplug when I leave on Sunday afternoon. I'll pick-up around 100 miles. This is after 40 hours with temperatures in the low 20's. This plus my arrival charge usually gives me enough to make EA in Albany, 150 miles (if not it's enough to get to Glens Falls EA, 90 miles). From either of those I have enough to get home.

If your driving less than 200 miles per week 110v charging should work, assuming you are home for 10 or 12 hours per night. Is it quick, no but if you always plug in it can work.

So @Steve181, you really should consider installing a level 2 charger at home. My 40 amp will charge my Grand Touring from 20% to 80% in about eight hours.
