We bought our Air Grand Touring in September of 2022. Interest rates for financing were historically low due to Covid, but starting to increase. Found a deal through Carolina Co-op for 2.99% AND they let us make payments with our Discover card, which offers 1% back, so 1.99% net. Paid in a timely fashion and no problems until this month. Our payment was rejected, all three attempts. Card is paid off every month. Plenty of credit available. Transactions before and after the loan payment went through without a hitch. Contacted the lender and they said it was Discover’s fault. Contacted Discover and they said it was Carolina’s. Back and forth multiple times. Carolina said they’d have their IT people look into it to see if anything could be done. Meanwhile, they suggested using another card but only wanted debit cards, or an ACH. I liked my method and it’s 1% bonus.
The suspicious side of me is wondering if they’re just trying to lose the CC fee they incur by using Discover Card as a form of payment. Has anyone else encountered this?
