Am I the only person that finds the battery-powered visor vanity mirrors a bit janky? I’m replacing the L and R sets of batteries for the third time in two years despite hardly using the mirror lights. I see from other threads that the visors are essentially permanent (removing the puck would break the glass), so I don’t understand why they aren’t just wired into the low-voltage system.

Would’ve required more visible wiring, and they would not be “floating” as they are now.

True, but an alternate design would have integrated the pivoting hinge into the A-pillar.

Something definitely seems off with circuitry though. I hardly ever use the vanity mirror and LEDs draw very little power, so I’m stumped as to why they’ve chewed through so many batteries.

Yeah this is one of the few things the model X does right.

Had my car for two years. Haven't had to touch the batteries yet.

I guess I don't look at myself much.

As a design improvement, I have thought about replacing the 3 coin batteries with a rechargeable one, AND adding a small solar panel (like on some old handheld calculators) to the visor to keep them charged.
