Batteries and Extreme Heat

So, for example, if you live in Phoenix, and you park your car outside on a 112 degree day to go to a matinee, will a Ludid's batteries just 'cook' for those 2-3 hours, or will the car initiate cooling to protect the batteries? If it's the latter, I'm guessing that the kWh draw would be at least a few kWh over that time.
