Arizona

Hi, all, just saw this thread. I am in PV near Tatum and Lincoln. Placed my order for a Red GT with Santa Cruz a couple of months ago, so probably in the fall... In the meantime, you might see me around town in the blue Fisker Karma. I'll try to make it to the next meetup if I don't have to work.

If anyone is looking for a PPF guy, Jonathan at Smartshield in Deer Valley wrapped my Karma in Xpel Ultimate. He said he would do the Lucid in Ultimate with ceramic coat and tint the windows with XR Plus for 8000. Based on what a couple of other people have said on the PPF thread, seems like a good price. Curious what other quotes others have gotten around here.

Aloha,

Ed

I posted a version of this in another thread:

I settled with Prestige Film's Clear Guard Alpa (http://www.prestige-films.com/clearguard-alpha/), since my installer, Cactus Auto Tint, had experience installing. It has a special top coat that makes ceramic coating unnecessary.

Unrelated to the PPF, I have used previously (and also used on the Lucid) Prestige's Spectra Photosync with IRD (Inferred Dispersion) (http://www.prestige-films.com/spectra-photosync/) which is the best at reducing IR and heat. It's worked great here in AZ – especially on the windshield.

Total cost for PPF and tinting was about $9500, but I got a reduced rate as a previous customer.

I just saw another post by the DFW users and a shop is giving members of the lucid forum a 10% discount. We should see if any local shops would be willing to do the same.

I'm based out of CA but am considering taking delivery in Scottsdale since Cactus Auto Tint can do both XPEL and Prestige Film products. The spectra photosync installer in the bay area won't do window tinting on the Air because the front windshield is too hard to do in one piece and the rear window is too tight (according to them). It sounds like Cactus can in fact do photosync on all windows (including the windshield in one piece)?

I was thinking pf doing XPEL Stealth with the fusion coating, but Cactus may offer satin guard PPF if they installed clear guard for you?

Hey Everyone, I have the Quantum Grey / Tahoe AGT. I live in Mesa/ Gilbert by Val Vista Lakes. I was just in the service center ( broke a piece of trim opening my door) and they mentioned the forums and how there was an event and people were asking to see the grey in person. Can someone fill me in on the details? I will see if i can make it. Thanks!

I seem to be in the minority, but I really haven't had a problem with heat through the glass roof, and I pretty much never notice the sun overhead. Yes, it will get hot to the touch, but if you're not needing to be in hypermiling mode and can crank up the AC (like any car when starting out initially), it will cool down nicely. As @Adnillien said, the recirculation also helps.

As for windshield chips, I guess I'd need to know the difference in cost in replacing the GT one or a non-glass roof one, so that could definitely be a factor. I will say that I won't invest in windshield tinting simply because I don't want to add that replacement expense. Maybe if I can go a year without a chip, I might reconsider.
I actually used Cactus Tint for my car and they work with a glass replacement company called Blue Chip. They do alot of teslas. But they go to your insurance company and get it covered usually. And in some cases deliver the glass to be tinted by him first then installed. So hopefully they will be doing Lucid's soon.

I had my car done with Rick at Cactus Tint. They did an amazing job. He has already done close to a dozen Lucids, if not more. He did my windshield in one piece, almost impossible to even see the edges. He did say this car is one of the more difficult cars he has done. And he does all high end supercars, teslas, etc. Said the rear glass is a nightmare and the rear windows has to take the door panels off to do it properly. He also ordered replacement pucks for sunvisors as they sometimes do not remove well from the glass, so he replaces those. He is very close with the service manager at Scottsdale already and they walk him through everything. I would highly recommend!

Note to self budget 10K on after Market

I am still waiting for a Pure. I am in that vicinity a lot. Best bagels in town sort of across the street (but still not like real east coast bagels). Can I come?

Off course, all are welcome. @Navy06 organized it so hopefully OK with him. Both John and Lena from the service center will join. Lena will only stay a little while since she has to work at 9:00.

The fact that you guys have actual employees from the company joining you speaks volumes about the company imho.

I think the place gets pretty busy, so if breakfast is the plan, I'd recommend we head in at 8. What are we thinking the count is at this point - 12ish? @Navy06 not sure if you have a running list, so let us know. I can probably get there on the earlier side and let the place know.

I forgot to mention that we may also get the lead tech to join us. I agree that it says a lot about the company.
