Android Auto Thursday

As a reminder, the Andromeda galaxy is hurtling towards us at 250,000 mph and in a few billion years it will collide with the Milky Way and none of this will matter anyway.

Until then, I hope all the AA fans get what they are hoping for in due time and it’s everything they hoped for.
What will come first? This or Android Auto in the Lucid 🤣

Or maybe it isn’t, and it is the defense of those without an argument to resort to ad hominem attacks, which is a logical fallacy.

Attack the argument, not the person making it. And if you don’t have a good argument to make, that’s fine, but then politely bow out because ad hominems never move anything forward.

It is silly. That’s why it’s supposed to be fun.

Thanks.

Did you read anything I wrote?

The implication here is that we don’t complain, so I’ll reiterate: it seems clear you didn’t read anything I wrote.

I have no idea. I’m not your wife.

I do assume that if your wife came home and gave you some bad news, like the grocery store was out of milk, you wouldn’t immediately go “you didn’t try hard enough, you should go to another store, you probably didn’t even look in the right section, and I’m surprised you even made it home with how dumb you are and how badly you drive” or you wouldn’t have a wife very much longer.

There are people on the other side of the comments you make. Some of them even work at Lucid, building the very car you want them to improve.

Attack the argument. Not the people. That shouldn’t be hard. If it is, reconsider your argument entirely.

Access is key. Lucid employees monitor this forum. Respectful, constructive suggestions will be more likely resinate than those buried in negative comments

In the past 2 months I personally know 3 families who lost everything in house fires, so when I read about people having to wait a whole minute for there car to wake up, I consider them lucky that this is their biggest problem in life (or so it appears)

In 2007, our house burned to the ground during the wildfires here in San Diego. We literally lost everything. We only had time to get the kids and the dogs out of the house. It did help me gain perspective. I do think it is important to also sweat the small things, but since then, they just don’t bother me as much.

This is, after all, an automotive forum, so I included a picture of how a car looks when it’s been burned. This was my one month old M6 convertible.

Wow. Glad you were all able to get out safely.

I have to say the community built around lucid on this forum is really an incredible one. Probably one of the most human, adult, fair and balanced forums I've run into. I surprisingly learn a lot about the car, the people that tirelessly work to keep this place sane, and astronomical information.

Totally agree! If it weren’t for this forum I wouldn’t have made some of my very best friends :)

That is terrible, makes my skin crawl. Getting out safe it's the most important thing, of course, but seeing this it's still heartbreaking. I can't imagine how you felt. All your stuff, the little things, the memories ... I hope you were able to build back better.

So, uh, back to the question at hand: Android Auto when, please?
There is no one who can answer this definitively. IMO likely in Jan or Feb.

Well no not completely, but there is a certain group that does do the defending. If you're sick of hearing that...maybe it's because it's true. Just as you're sick of hearing a group of us complain. First to admit, I come here to vent. It's silly. But it's true. And I've never called anyone a bad name or been degrading...ever. Have I called people silly? Sure. I'm silly. This whole this is a group of adult men arguing about cars haha.

It's the silliest man-est thing ever.

So hey listen, my deepest apologies for being rude or conveying disrespect. You guys are the Lucid Defenders. And some of us are complainers. We each play a role lol. You guys undoubtedly make the company better, as do people being discontent with their product. Each is a desire to improve what we love. How do you think my wife gets me to change my behavior?
I defend them because they are working very hard and trying to make things work. Issues that arise are not due to incompetence or disinterest but are viewed as problems to solve and sometimes those problems are more challenging and complex than anticipated and solutions can reveal new issues. Welcome to real life. I also criticize them when warranted. The fob/entry system for the air sucks. The frunk automatic latch system is also not good, mine has needed a few revisions. The deck lid rattle thing has been a problem for many people, I think the latest TSB on it actually does fix it though. I’ve said this a thousand times but progress happens in steps not all at once. So that’s why I defend Lucid because they are committed very smart people who actually listen to owners and really do want to make the best damn car. Most of the complaining on here is entitled, lacking insight and perspective and like an old man yelling at the clouds. Sorry not sorry.

Could this be the holdup? Airs don't have 5GHz

With the recent Android Auto 13.3 update, which has been rolling out widely in recent weeks, Google says that an issue with devices being told they couldn’t use Android Auto due to a lack of 5GHz Wi-Fi support should now be fixed. Affected users saw a notification that their “phone doesn’t support 5GHz Wi-Fi connections” This was apparently sent in error, as while 5GHz is required for wireless connections, it is not needed for wired connections. This issue was trending on Google’s forums for a few weeks, any seems to have affected a large number of users.

Nah it’s probably just that Lucid doesn’t care about anyone

Our Volvo V60 Polestar PHEV just got Android auto like a week and a half ago. It doesn’t do 5ghz, it’s 4G LTE. Since the OTA the interface has been laggy and google maps no longer displays time to arrival in the center display. Seems like these things are not easy for automakers in general and it’s not really a Lucid defect?

My impatience sometimes gets the better of me. But after the posts by @larrycpa and @Bobby's post with pictures, I decided I'm not even going to think about AA or comment about it, until Lucid announces it's release. The delay is a disappointment, but in the scheme of things there's a lot of bigger things to care about. It really isn't the end of the world. I'm 100% sure they will get it out as soon as they are able. Even without AA, this is still the car I want to be driving. Spending the day in the drivers seat of my 2013 Elantra really makes a person appreciate the Air! For other Android users, since we don't know how long the wait will be, I can't recommend setting up the Carlinkit enough. Yes, it costs some money and it takes a few seconds to connect when you start the car, but you'll have full AA functionality in the Lucid.

I was going to ask where owners learned about the team waiting on Google and was about to tag the new Lucid SW exec here since it is past their promise. Then I found the update on the forum, a day before fall ended. Linking it here for reference:

Post in thread 'Confirmed: Android Auto coming this fall!' https://lucidowners.com/threads/confirmed-android-auto-coming-this-fall.9249/post-240567

I applaud the follow up, even if the news is not what I wanted.

Advice at this point? Since the last big update where Hey Lucid started, my key contacts ( husband, some clients) are not recognized when I try to voice text or call, but do show up on the recent calls list. It frequently turns on during conversation or singing along to music. The voice is really annoying but if it worked, I would roll with it. Should I shut it off at this point? How to do that? If I shut it off, is there another option and how do I make that happen? Thanks in advance.
