Android Auto Thursday

Happy Android Auto Thursday!!!!!!

Just remember that “Never be in a hurry; do everything quietly and in a calm spirit. Do not lose your inner peace for anything whatsoever, even if your whole world seems upset. What is anything in life compared to peace of soul?” ― Francis de Sales

Brutal

But honest.

Lucid could have continued to say nothing and wait. I’m glad they’re closing to be more transparent, and we should reward that, not poo-poo it.

More communication, not less! :p

What's brutal about saying "Hey, sorry this isn't done yet, but we assure you we're still working on it?" Especially given it's not entirely up to them when the approval process is completed?

People complain here all the time Lucid doesn't give us enough information about their plans, what they are working on, etc. Then they come here and tell us exactly what's going on, and people moan anyway.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t

There's another version of this. If there is no communication, people are unhappy, but they can dream. When there is communication, and it's not good news, the dream is gone and - while people appreciate the transparency - the news is bad, so ... yeah.

2 things can be true at the same time :)

Totally agree. Recent increase in transparency has made me feel so much better about the company as a whole tbh. Feels much more inclusive which always feels good as a consumer

No just saying brutal like it's sad haha not about the communication. They're doing a great job with communicating lately and it's awesome, even if it's "keep waiting" it's still very respectable. No complaints there. Just bummer it's been a >2 year wait.

If Android Auto is not implemented in the Lucid Air by December 2024 2025, I hereby threaten to buy an iPhone. 😮‍💨
We tried it! It didn't stick.

So there is glass half full vs half empty... but we are so optimistic here -- at least there is a glass.. ie.. there is some communication.

Yes, but that just results in no future communication. You can’t have it both ways; you either want more communication, with the good and the bad, or only communication about good things, which isn’t communication; it’s just releasing.

I'm not sure I follow. So you're saying that in order to encourage Lucid to be more open, all news need to be either received with ovations, or worst case, keep your mouth shut? What is this, the annual communist party gathering? :) Lucid need to become more transparent asap, especially on the hot issues. People might not like the news but will appreciate the honesty. I hate being kept in the dark. I much rather know that I won't be seeing AA for another year, than not hearing anything.

No one is saying less communication. This world that lucid and Tesla have created makes everyone feel like they get a gift with every ota- no other car company creates that type of anticipation. So we sometimes ride an emotional roller coaster. It doesn't mean that they should clam up and they know they need to be careful on what and how they promise and deliver.

This is a growing pain of a new company. And tbh it's impacted maybe two dozen owners who were excited about getting Android auto. I'm sure lucid is disappointed too that they haven't delivered something that they've said they would. But in the end it's not impacting their sales- the company will survive- and for the majority of the owners and future owners it doesn't matter.

I also noticed that their confirmation of delivery was strong language earlier this year and their recent communication sounds more tempered with legal influence- "while we anticipated" so looks like they are learning.

"And tbh it's impacted maybe two dozen owners"????
I was promised AA when I bought my AGT 2 years ago, the fact that it has yet to be installed has significant weight when deciding if I should by a Gravity.
I am very happy with my car but AA would be an improvement. I will never take promised OTA's into consideration when buying a car in the future, lesson learned.
