Android Auto Thursday

"And tbh it's impacted maybe two dozen owners"????
I was promised AA when I bought my AGT 2 years ago, the fact that it has yet to be installed has significant weight when deciding if I should by a Gravity.
I am very happy with my car but AA would be an improvement. I will never take promised OTA's into consideration when buying a car in the future, lesson learned.
I hear ya. And maybe it will influence your next move, but I doubt many people are clamoring that this is a deal breaker. No one is breaking their lease over this or rushing to sell their car. Id wager the majority of people here are happy with their purchases and enjoy their carplay or built in nav. (I admit I'm not and it probably makes me think about my options. I will want to test drive gravity and maybe I'll look at an IQ, but I'm glad I took the time to learn about lucid and Im excited for it's future)

The open comms are great and here's to hoping the AA implementation doesn't waste that whole right corner of the screen like CarPlay does

Never buy anything on a promise it will be improved later.

I know we're a minority, but I'm sure it's way more than two dozen owners. Maybe not on this forum, but in the wider world of Lucid owners. Tbh, that is the only update I'm really waiting for. I love the care overall, but if I didn't have the Carlinkit workaround going for AA, I'd be beyond frustrated by now. As all of the iPhone users would be if they didn't have Carplay yet. I'd bet a lot that they'd be complaining a lot more than the AA folks are. I know Lucid is doing what they can, and I'm sure we won't be waiting until fall of 2025. At least, I hope not.

Yea but thats kinda the whole premise of OTAs you know? That over time you are getting a car that is "future ready"....

Just bummed it was promised to me more than 2 years ago as well. Thats wild. 2 years is wild. A base model chevy cruze has AA. It would upgrade my navigation ability within the car away from Lucid navigation substantially, of which is horrendous. 3 things I want in a vehicle. Fun, ease of use, and comfort. Ease of use is a bit lacking with current software in important places like navigation, speak to prompt, and overall use of music streaming. Would be improved a lot with AA.

The assembly of Lucid Defenders doesn't always need to assemble at every expression of an owners disappointment or let down.

I'm not sure I follow. So you're saying that in order to encourage Lucid to be more open, all news need to be either received with ovations, or worst case, keep your mouth shut? What is this, the annual communist party gathering? :) Lucid need to become more transparent asap, especially on the hot issues. People might not like the news but will appreciate the honesty. I hate being kept in the dark. I much rather know that I won't be seeing AA for another year, than not hearing anything.
No, not at all. Sorry if I was unclear. React to news however you’d like.

But there is a huge difference between:
1) “thanks for letting us know, that really sucks, but my assumption is that you’re working on it and not that you just don’t care”; and,
2) “ughhhhh this sucks lucid clearly only cares about stupid things I don’t care about”

The latter doesn’t encourage a company (or anyone) to be more transparent. If you’re going to be berated and called incompetent whether you say something or not, then there is rarely a reason to say something. There’s no point.

Yes, I know those aren’t direct quotes or anything anyone said, and that I’m exaggerating for effect.

But I do think it’s important to, at least in the short term, encourage more transparency, and to commend Lucid for being more transparent as they try to make that change.

That doesn’t mean you can’t be sad (or angry, or annoyed, frustrated, or whatever else you’d like) about Android Auto not being here yet. That is completely reasonable.

Definitely feeling 1

No one is saying less communication. This world that lucid and Tesla have created makes everyone feel like they get a gift with every ota- no other car company creates that type of anticipation. So we sometimes ride an emotional roller coaster. It doesn't mean that they should clam up and they know they need to be careful on what and how they promise and deliver.

This is a growing pain of a new company. And tbh it's impacted maybe two dozen owners who were excited about getting Android auto. I'm sure lucid is disappointed too that they haven't delivered something that they've said they would. But in the end it's not impacting their sales- the company will survive- and for the majority of the owners and future owners it doesn't matter.

I also noticed that their confirmation of delivery was strong language earlier this year and their recent communication sounds more tempered with legal influence- "while we anticipated" so looks like they are learning.
I agree with everything you said.

It is just very easy to hear only “damned if you do, damned if you don’t,” which hurts future communications, because it scares companies into silence, which is worse for everyone.

But I don’t disagree with anything else you said.

I don’t disagree. I think they should’ve had it ages ago, and I don’t know why they haven’t other than “working with Google is hard and annoying,” but that’s an explanation, not an excuse.

The assembly of Lucid Defenders doesn't always need to assemble at every expression of an owners disappointment or let down.
That’s not what’s happening, and good god can we please stop with this BS. Responding to crap like this is what makes it that much more annoying to respond to real things.

I’m not “defending Lucid.” I am suggesting that when someone walks up to you and tells you that the thing you were waiting for is going to take longer, it is important to recognize that the delivery of the news itself isn’t the thing you’re upset about, and you just want your damn pizza.

It’s fine to be pissed about not having the pizza, or AA, or whatever. That’s completely reasonable.

But distinguishing *that* from being pissed that the news was delivered at all is what I’m trying to clarify here. More than one person has linked the two, and they do not have to be linked, and shouldn’t be, imho.

That’s all.

I’m so done being called a fanboy or defender or whatever other nonsense. It’s a trash opinion, and I cannot state that any more clearly. It is inaccurate, annoying, frustrating to argue against (because it is ad-hominem), and solely an attempt at devaluing what the person on the other end is saying.

I have yet, ever, to call anyone here a Tesla-Stan. I could have. There have been plenty. But it is pointless and dumb, and not a useful or valid argument, or point in any argument.

But whatever. People are still going to assume things, incorrectly, and I’m just over it.

I know this isn’t directed at you. You’re just the straw, and the camel has a broken back. If it has not yet been made clear to everyone that we are here to help owners, not “save Lucid from criticism,” I’m legitimately out of ideas.

All love @borski, I never wanted to be a straw even though I am shaped like one 😂 In all seriousness I love this company and I'm happy yall are owners. You make the company better and you make all of us owners less whiney lol

I know; you’re not the problem, lol.

Honestly I think I’m just tired. A lot has happened this year in my family, and none of it had to do with Lucid, and it was rough. This is one of my “fun” escapes, so when someone walks in to “the bar I help manage” and starts telling me how shitty all the beer in my bar is, I get really tired of entertaining them and it begins to feel like work.

And I don’t work for free. :)

I’m assuming your “Lucid Defenders” comment is directed at me since it was in reply to my post. Anyone who’s been here a while knows that I have been the first to call out Lucid on bugs, wishlist features, OTA delays, etc. Despite this I have maintained a mature relationship with Lucid employees at every level, including Peter himself. This is because I am always fair, honest, and constructive in my criticism… unlike you who resorts to name calling and emotional, judgmental conclusions. To be honest, I’m sick of it. Others as well, based on behind the scenes complaining about your constant negativity and bashing of the car and the company. Please sell the car and move on. Or perhaps take your constant moaning and groaning elsewhere.

Well no not completely, but there is a certain group that does do the defending. If you're sick of hearing that...maybe it's because it's true. Just as you're sick of hearing a group of us complain. First to admit, I come here to vent. It's silly. But it's true. And I've never called anyone a bad name or been degrading...ever. Have I called people silly? Sure. I'm silly. This whole this is a group of adult men arguing about cars haha.

It's the silliest man-est thing ever.

So hey listen, my deepest apologies for being rude or conveying disrespect. You guys are the Lucid Defenders. And some of us are complainers. We each play a role lol. You guys undoubtedly make the company better, as do people being discontent with their product. Each is a desire to improve what we love. How do you think my wife gets me to change my behavior?

Hey man, I'm sorry to hear that. Sincerely and thoroughly. I pray you and your family are healthy and well. I really like that analogy haha, let me list all the things I like about the company and car. Positivity should always reign supreme.

1. It's a rocket
2. It's so comfortable and smooth
3. EA has improved so much, it charges amazing
4. Interior quality is spectacular
5. New SSP update is insanely good, so awesome
6. HA has gotten so much better they've killed it with these updates lately
7. Infotainment system is substantially quicker and more responsive
8. Cargo space is under rated
9. Peter is simply the nicest and most inspiring dude and I trust him whole heartedly
10. People ask me everywhere I go, "what is that?!" And I get to tell them 1-9

Or maybe it isn’t, and it is the defense of those without an argument to resort to ad hominem attacks, which is a logical fallacy.

Attack the argument, not the person making it. And if you don’t have a good argument to make, that’s fine, but then politely bow out because ad hominems never move anything forward.

Just as you're sick of hearing a group of us complain. First to admit, I come here to vent. It's silly. But it's true. And I've never called anyone a bad name or been degrading...ever. Have I called people silly? Sure. I'm silly. This whole this is a group of adult men arguing about cars haha.

It is silly. That’s why it’s supposed to be fun.

So hey listen, my deepest apologies for being rude or conveying disrespect.
Thanks.

You guys are the Lucid Defenders.
Did you read anything I wrote?

And some of us are complainers.
The implication here is that we don’t complain, so I’ll reiterate: it seems clear you didn’t read anything I wrote.

We each play a role lol. You guys undoubtedly make the company better, as do people being discontent with their product. Each is a desire to improve what we love. How do you think my wife gets me to change my behavior?
I have no idea. I’m not your wife.

I do assume that if your wife came home and gave you some bad news, like the grocery store was out of milk, you wouldn’t immediately go “you didn’t try hard enough, you should go to another store, you probably didn’t even look in the right section, and I’m surprised you even made it home with how dumb you are and how badly you drive” or you wouldn’t have a wife very much longer.

There are people on the other side of the comments you make. Some of them even work at Lucid, building the very car you want them to improve.

Attack the argument. Not the people. That shouldn’t be hard. If it is, reconsider your argument entirely.

As a reminder, the Andromeda galaxy is hurtling towards us at 250,000 mph and in a few billion years it will collide with the Milky Way and none of this will matter anyway.

Until then, I hope all the AA fans get what they are hoping for in due time and it’s everything they hoped for.
