Android Auto Thursday

As an Andriod user (not by choice but company provided), I am unclear honestly about what the concerns are. Is it regarding just the navigation ui? I have not experienced any issues using it. I was shocked actually when i said “hey lucid , where is the nearest post office?” And it actually worked and navigated to the nearest option.I guess if you are streaming strictly amazon music vs. Tidal or one of the other app options that could be the case, but even then your streaming over bluetooth sourcing. I am generally curious, as I dont feel like im missing out not having it. My $.02

Advice at this point? Since the last big update where Hey Lucid started, my key contacts ( husband, some clients) are not recognized when I try to voice text or call, but do show up on the recent calls list. It frequently turns on during conversation or singing along to music. The voice is really annoying but if it worked, I would roll with it. Should I shut it off at this point? How to do that? If I shut it off, is there another option and how do I make that happen? Thanks in advance.
You can turn off the automatic trigger when it thinks it hears Hey Lucid. Then, it is only accessible by pressing the microphone button on the steering wheel.

Ok - how do I do that? Also, is there an option to use a different system since it won't recognize all of my contacts for voice texting and calling?

1. Lucid Assistant is the only one available natively in the vehicle. I prefer CarPlay/Siri. If you want Android Auto, which is likely based on the thread we are in, and this is an extremely important function to you, you might want to add Android Auto to your car using some of the workarounds that have been mentioned on the forum until it is available natively. https://lucidowners.com/threads/android-auto-thursday.5140/post-191916
2. Voice activation can be turned off in the vehicle settings. Information can be found in the owners manual, which I encourage you to read. https://lucidmotors.com/media/document/Lucid-Air-Owners-Manual_en-US.pdf

Lucid's voice assistant is brand new to the vehicle and currently pretty limited. I'm sure that texting/calling functions will improve with time. For now, you can place calls by triggering the assistant and saying the phone number: "call xxx-xxx-xxxx".

I definitely recommend this setting being off for now. Until there are updates to it, it's very bad at recognizing contacts and only so-so on doing things in the car. Plus it frequently comes on when you're not talking to it. You can always press the button when you want it to do something.

Prolly better question for the updates thread, but u can turn on/off in settings… under audio I think.

I spoke with Customer Care, and Hey Lucid doesn't have the capability to text it initiate calls apparently. They're working on it for future updates.
You can shut it off, but the Alexa option isn't available any longer.

Exactly! Consider future promised enhancements as vaporware.
More difficult to accommodate, sometimes a product's capability will take a step back before it takes two steps forward, like losing the mature-but-flawed Alexa for an embryonic "Hey Lucid".

I took delivery last week and the delivery rep off the record mentioned that apparently AA has got google approval and he expects AA to be released soon, likely in next OTA update. I know off the record doesn't mean anything but i see no strong reason to make it up either.

do you know that rats like to drive electric cars ? Seriously they do. In fact they get so lazy to the point they drive themself to hunt for food or reach their food destination

I thought of sharing this while you guys waiting for AA to come on the 8th day of the week

We are impatiently patient people. That's what this thread is about.

In 2007, our house burned to the ground during the wildfires here in San Diego. We literally lost everything. We only had time to get the kids and the dogs out of the house. It did help me gain perspective. I do think it is important to also sweat the small things, but since then, they just don’t bother me as much.

This is, after all, an automotive forum, so I included a picture of how a car looks when it’s been burned. This was my one month old M6 convertible.

Wow, @Bobby, just seeing this now. I am so sorry you had to go through that!!!

Slightly off topic, or maybe not. What is the current best Android to Carplay adapter? My BIL has a new Porsche Macan, and it doesn't have Android Auto either! He'd like to get that adapter box that everyone is using.

Wait what....how is that possible when a $15k Nissan Sentra has this basic feature? Porsche going bankrupt. I've only ever used the Carlinkit

The irony didn't escape me (do I need to take the Macan EV off my shopping list?), but I am actually seriously asking! [EDIT: turns out the EV version of the Macan does have Android Auto]
