1.1.7 Release Notes

So, customer support got back to me and said: “The USB ports is not wired for data transfer. All USB ports, in your Lucid Air Edition, will only support charging without any data transfer connectivity capability.”

So, uh, I guess we’ll see? Since service/tech says one thing and customer support says another? I asked them to reconfirm lmao.
That is hysterical. My money is on the service team. (Probably because that’s what I’m hoping for).

Power only USB would be tragic. Its just funny to find wire for that purpose. I suppose you could use a cheap two conductor wire but now you have to use a special Molex connector to connect pins... You'd think it was ordered to length with appropriate connectors. Just switch it out for 12-24 conductors, problem solved.

Aren't most charging cables USB-A to USB-C unless you have a new phone? Is iPhone shipped with USB-A to lightning? I don't have an iPhone.

I’m sure service went and asked engineering, and cs just “guessed” or went off stale data.

I can watch movies on my Taycan while charging. Can plug in an X-Box controller to play video games in the Tesla. Hard to believe Lucid is not using best available technology. II am sure Lucid is fully aware of their competition and provided a wired USB interface.

You can watch movies on your taycan while charging? How? I definitely can’t unless I’m missing something

Make sure you "touch press" the video symbol (see attached) after video starts playing to switch the display to video. Video only plays when car is not in motion.

I must be in the minority that Lucid doesn't have some entertainment option included is a good thing

I concur with you. I really do not care about playing videos or games.

They seem to be blowing it with being forced to use Tidal or Apple Music for Dolby Atmos
This is just my ignorance.... what are the other available platforms that support Dolby Atmos?

Once Apple CarPlay is released, I imagine other platforms like Spotify would be supported since it is supported within CarPlay. Just an assumption, however, it's possible they may only support normal sound.

I’ve not checked the CarPlay api docs to see if it enables atmos for apps, but I’d be surprised if it doesn’t. Last I checked, the sound is processed on the phone before transmission to the car, meaning any music app on CarPlay is handing off the audio stream to the device instead of directly interfacing with the car.

Take away:

...as long as your speakers are capable of playing that content then it will be available.
