Lucid Air Touring
I purchased my Lucid May 20th part of which was financed and paid directly to Lucid from bank and the rest cash. Including tax title and transfer. Received a temp tag which is within a few weeks of expiration. Lucid has yet transferred and paid taxes to my state DMV and now the bank is calling and sent a letter saying that the lien must be put on title within ten days of loan will be cancelled.
I have texted, emailed customer service, Ted the sales person, and the sales person listed on my profile page and none have helped, only to say I am sure it will be done in a few days. That was weeks ago.
Who do I talk to?

Just a quick follow up.

Its now almost 6 months since I took delivery (AGT on Feb 21st, 2025 in Plainview, NY). Need CT Plates and Title - doesn't look there's a chance of this happening anytime soon. I'm on my 3rd temp set of AZ plates.

Have called Lucid sales, delivery, operations etc - all very polite, but no progress.

Decided to see if I could get some help from CT DMV - was very surprised to get a call back from them saying that they had no record of any registration request for my VIN.

Next step was to call my local State Senator and see if their office could help. Again was very surprised to get an immediate call from his Aide, who connected with their CT DMV Liason person - and got a call from this individual. This person did get much further with Lucid - did find out that this work has been outsourced to Express Tag & TItle in VA and did get in touch with a rep from Express Tag & Title who explained tha they have a runner that they use for the DMV and is the person who has the paperwork and claimed that the CT DMV is backed up (this was pretty funny - they were telling a CT DMV employee that they were backed up!). But the Express Tag & Title folks would not provide the contact information of this individual that has the paperwork. So still unable to the bottom of this issue.

At this stage, one can only assume the worst - something weird is going on - etiher at Lucid or at Express Tag & Title. At the suggestion of my Senator's Aide, putting together all the details (Sale, Delivery, paperwork, emails etc) and getting hold of the State Attorney General's office to see if they can perhaps get more details.

Got an email yesterday from Lucid informing me that I needed to do a VIN certification at Connecticut DMV. Once there that also required a safety inspection. There are only 2 inspection lanes for the whole state. However, what really blows my mind, is that Lucid is not on CT’s list of approved manufacturers. Polestar? Yes, along with other really obscure brands. Why no Lucid? Heck if I know. If they had been on the list I would have been able to go to a local 3rd party VIN certification garage which was about 5 minutes away, instead, not being listed required a much longer trip. But it was a nice day for a drive and going up I-95 and I-91 Hands Free DA only scared the 💩 out of me a couple of times.

The DMV workers were excellent! Funny guys who really knew car inspection and registration regs front and backwards. One worker said mine was the 3rd Lucid he’d certified and the other said it was his 5th. It blew their minds that Lucid hadn’t sent me the title to the car since one guy said he’d have walked me over to the main DMV building and got the process started for the tags and CT registration. He was really concerned that I was FedExing the original inspection form to Lucid and made me two copies and gave me his contact information just in case anything went squirrelly.

I shared these concerns with Ryan at Lucid who informed me that this was the way CT had set up registration with Lucid. Reminds me of the old Yes song “Roundabout” but Ryan did show a lot of patience with my old fart worries. The DMV workers agreed that this convoluted process for registering cars was largely due to the strong lobby that car dealers have in the state (and any state where Lucid doesn’t have a sales presence).

Anyway, here it is on the cusp of September, picked up my car in February, will be putting the official inspection forms in FedEx’s hands today, and hopefully, not too much longer from now. I’ll have my registration, tags, and title to my Air Touring. I’ll probably also have some kind of tax penalty for late registration as well.

Thanks for the Update

This is so weird. Guess I would have to go thru the same process. Have had 3 Teslas (first one bought in 2012) - never had this issue. Tesla did not have a CT presence in 2012 either, but they were able to get this done (without all this drama).

This makes me nervous. Ryan at Lucid told me my title and reg had been sent to my town's DMV people and they would be contacting me shortly. I still won't relax until I have title/reg/plates in hand. I've only got three more weeks to get this done until we go back home down south.

Are you in CT now?
