in 10 days or so my time with lucid is coming to an end. I have had zero issues with the car other than temporary quirks from the car play system that quickly resolved themselves. overall the lucid is a great car that offers unmatched range. my only complaints are that I could never find a good seating position and the car didn't drive like a sports car, while it is fast it drives like the big heavy sedan that it is.
I am taking delivery of a BMW I4 M50 which I hope will scratch the urge for a dynamic sports car, we'll see.

Au revoir mes amis

Good luck with the M50. It is a challenge to find the perfect car. I hope this one checks all the boxes for you!

Due to its weight is why I chose AT as opposed to AGT. Are you in a AGT currently?

Good luck!

Did you try the Pure, it’s more sporty. I sat in a i4, thought the Air interior was much much better. Enjoy the Beemer.

It's tough to hide the dynamics of that elephant-sized battery in the room on any EV. To be honest, if I was in the market for a sports car I'd be looking at ICE options. But to each his own.

I agree. My GT is my luxury cruiser and for grandkids… And my M4 is for when I feel like a sports car.

Interesting - back in 2022/23 I test drove both the M50 and E40. While the M50 had a lot more power / straight line speed, I felt the weight in corners. The E40 felt more of a driver's car. Hopefully you don't regularly have backseat passengers because that space is pretty snug. Enjoy your new i4!

I test drove and considered an I4 but couldn't get past the look of the front end (different folks have different attitudes toward the BMW front ends). I did think it drove well.

folks here have compared the two. I don't because IMO they are in very different vehicle classes. The I4 is distinctly smaller than the Lucid and belongs in the compact size class. Interestingly, while the Lucid is longer and wider, it is also significantly lower. I would love to see a comparison test between a RWD Lucid Air Pure and a BMW I4.

Enjoy your BMW. The great thing about EVs nowadays is that there are so many choices. We are all different and it is nice that there are so many choices for us.

I wish you didn't have to go; but I hope to see you back soon. Enjoy your BMW!

the front end looks isn't an issue for me, I just drove the car home from NY to FL and overall it was a great ride. range is as expected, even a bit better than advertised and for comparisons the Lucid air is more like a MB EQS, BMW I7, the big audi sedan, taycan and a tesla model S. the I4 is more akin to a tesla models 3 but more luxurious.
I have the M50 version with 19" wheels and it is rated for 267 miles of range but shows 283 on the GOM and I was driving a bit on the fast side, 75-85 MPH and was getting 250 miles or so. charging is a bit slower than the AIR. over all I enjoyed the I4. I have zero issues with the Lucid, it is a great car, no service issues for me. I just wanted a smaller sportier car.

I don't need so many cars. my wife uses my Ipace and I will use the I4, the lucid lease is up and the I4 is replacing it

I recently attended a BMW M Track day. We got to drive a wide variety of BMW's, all the EV's (i4 m50, i5 m60, iX m60). The highlights were the M2 CS on the autocross track and several laps of our state's FIA track in the M3 and M4 Comp. Weight is the enemy of performance, if you have a chance to reconsider, and the goal is for a sports car, I would go for the M3 or M4.

No doubt the Air is a luxury saloon and it is an amazing daily, and I get having the sports car itch, if I want to do back canyon driving or an HPDE, there are vehicles more suitable than our (unavoidably) heavy EV's.

the I4 is about as heavy as the air

Surprised you didn't go the Taycan route. The Taycan to me was the most impressive handling EV "sporty" sedan that I test drove in recent times. There might be something similar like it now but to me it was as sporty of a drive as you can find. The downside with it was just the range but the MY 2025 has improved that a bit as well.

Good luck with the i4 - hope it works out for you!

I bought a 2022 AGT for myself and an 2023 BMW i-4M50 for my wife. Both are great cars and each has its advantages and disadvantages. The i-4M50 is actually faster off the line than my AGT as my AGT feels like it has a lag for the first 1/2 second, while the i-4 just blasts off immediately. Of course my AGT is faster once it starts hitting higher speed levels, but acceleration is great in both cars. My wife prefers her BMW over my AGT because like your preference it is a smaller car and much easier to park and more nimble. In the almost 3 years she has had it, she has never had to bring it in for service, because nothing has gone wrong. Everything works with no glitches. I am sure you will enjoy it. As I said, both are great cars, one is a smaller sedan, the other is a mid-large sedan. Different categories.

Strange, I have the exact opposite opinion between our i-4 and Air Pure. The Pure is much quicker off the line. I also feel like it is much better behaved in twisties, especially high-speed lateral transition body control. Don't get me wrong, I like them both, but if I were taking one to the track it would definitely be the Lucid. Maybe the difference is the weight savings in the Pure vs AGT?

At the end of the day, in the I4 I am always reminded that it was an ICE vehicle converted to an EV unlike the Air which was designed from the ground-up as an EV. Things like the (lack of) frunk and the center driveline hump in the rear passenger area.
