A few posts related to PPF on a Gravity have been sprinkled in the Gravity Delivery Discussion thread.
I figured I'd start a seperate PPF-specific thread to avoid continued mixing in with delivery-related posts.
Eventually, I suppose there will be an "Interior/Exterior" category like with the Air.

For those of you planning to have the XPEL PPF applied to your Gravity, I'm having the XPEL Ultimate Plus PPF applied to mine.
I notice on the XPEL website, it says "Vehicle-specific kits ensure a seamless fit with no need for cutting tools near your vehicle’s paintwork".

  1. Do "kits" mean templates? I'm thinking yes.
  2. Anyone know if installers might have a kit for the Gravity even though it's so new?
  3. I recall from previous posts, if indeed we're talking about templates, that the use of a template (like on the hood) may not be the best move. Seams are possible versus the installer using a full sheet instead of pieces. So, the existence of a kit/template may be moot if the use of it is not recommended. Kit/Template or no?

1. Yes
2. Obviously nobody will have templates yet
3. Result from a good installer will not be dependent on template vs whole sheets.
4. Expect $10k+

Thanks.
For Q2, I didn't think so, but I don't know the inner workings of the profession.

The standards, models, etc. that some professions work on and develop behind the scenes is incredible.

Anyone planning on using stealth wrap? I have it on my TRX and really like it

Has anyone who is wrapping their Gravity Dream yet dealt with the bear logos on the front fenders?

Our GDE is at the PPF installer now. He is going to attempt to remove the logos before wrapping the car. Since they are thin titanium plates instead of decals, he's hoping they'll come off intact. However, he says the 3M adhesive tape they use to reattach emblems after wrapping is a bit thicker than the adhesive Lucid apparently used to attach the logos, which will make them stand off from the fender a bit more. He has asked whether Lucid can supply new logos with their thinner adhesive.

The alternative is to trim the PPF around the logo, but he confirmed what others have already surmised here: this will raise the prospect of dirt getting into the seams.

I also asked him about reapplying the logos in the same position. He said they are going to make a stencil before removing them to use as a template for reattaching them.

I wonder if Lucid ever considered that many owners like to wrap their cars for protection when they decided to apply a raised bear logo and not make it a delete option?

I was fortunate enough to not have them installed before taking delivery. I did call to try and purchase new badges for the tailgate and no ever called me back. The initial response was pretty much “don’t hold your breath “.

How did you manage to keep them from getting installed? I asked my SA, who had been told they would be installed at the delivery service center and that he could put in a request to have them given to me instead of put on the car. However, the story later changed to their being installed at the factory, and there was no delete option.

Since we have a second GDE on order, I'd like to avoid the problem at least with that car.

There continued to be conflicting information about where the "decals" get installed. I made the request from my SA and the bears were left in the glove compartment for me. Maybe it's just a process change from the initial deliveries since yours was one of the first. They told me after the vehicle is wrapped, they will send a tech to install them for me.

Mine were definitely applied at the service center; they commented on this.

I had mine delivered without the bears for that reason. I made sure they had the bears on the due bill, also.

Were they to be put on at the factory or the service center? I've gotten conflicting answers to this, and my SA has not been helpful in finding a way to facilitate this. (He also hasn't yet answered a text I sent him last week asking for a status update on our second Gravity order.) I've given up calling him and now just call Lucid's HQ Customer Care team when I need anything -- although they sometimes try to fob me back off on our SA.

I don’t have them, so I have no idea where they’re put on. I assume the delivery center.

Be careful using the term “FOB”, that is being discussed in another thread.

My window sticker notes that the Dream badging is on the center console glass, fender, D-pillar, and wheel center caps.

Is the "D-pillar badging" just the "Dream Edition" badge on the back of the liftgate, or am I missing something?

I don't know about the other wheels or on non-DE cars, but on the mid-size wheels on the DE you have the bear logo on the hub covers only if you don't install the aero blades. They have to come off to mount the aero blades, which have their own center caps that read "LUCID".

Yes, that's correct -- I have the aero covers so the bear center caps aren't currently visible. The delivery advisor reviewed with us how to remove/reinstall the aero covers if we wished to do so. I'm just trying to figure out what the "D-pillar badging" is exactly...

Also, I haven't noticed it mentioned yet, but as of software 3.2.0 the Gravity imagery throughout the software is a generic silver model. Obviously this is pretty far down near the bottom of my wishlist, but they do plan to have this reflect the specific color/tire/trim configuration of the vehicle, as mentioned in the Dream Edition promotional materials.

My detailer using some liquid polymer glue thingie to stick logos back onto the PPF, no 3M tapes, I believe the liquid is also made by 3M, but it's in liquid form. he wiped the back of the logo with 1 chemical, and the area to glue with a different chemical. When they are combined, it creates the bond, it's literally the logo attaching to the top of the PPF, no gap, no extra thickness. PPF/Emblem, that's it.

Yes, they made a big deal about this in one of the UX3 videos. And even mentioned that DE will have special animations to the home dash screen, and color matching. So I'm sure future OTA updates will take care of this.

As for the D Pillar. I read the original order brochure did mentioned this, and shows a picture of the Gravity with Dream Edition wording on the part of the Stealth blade on the D pillar. I vaguely remember not seeing this on mine, but never bother to confirm. Very minor things on my list too.

for a bit, I really thought my DE was somebody's GT order, and they just put on the door sill plate and the bear to tell me it's the DE. :)

Right? Unless I take it to the track or a dyno there's no real way I can verify they pureed another 200 horses in there....
