Anyone know of bidirectional charging status?

@borski we would love to hear from you if you have any insider updates on V2H!
I don’t. I do know the last time I spoke to folks about it at Lucid (as in, the actual engineering folks), they are chomping at the bit to get it out. I don’t know why it isn’t, but I do know it’s not because they are ignoring it or don’t care. My suspicion is some regulatory things, but I have no idea.

Thanks. I already use that 12V port and could run LED lighting from it. But I'm thinking about a longer power failure where I would want to run a regrigerator as well.

Outlets.

From the manual: “Each AC outlet in the vehicle can provide 1.8kW of power and be used simultaneously.”

You can keep the outlets on even when the car is off, unless you are either charging the car or have less than 50mi SOC.
Thanks! Yes if its 1.8KW X 3 that is 5.4KW which would be plenty run some backup and emergency items as well as other accessories if camping or doing some outside work. I haven't got my hopes up in my area with the costs of extra boxes, regulations and permissions from the utility and city. Was largely going to supplement with a portable solar panel and portable 5KW battery system.

FWIW I will repeat that a few months ago I was told by a very senior VP at Lucid that V2H would be available before the end of this year.
Dont forget that CEO said the Gravity deliveries start end of April and delivered 1 or 2. I would take any information from Lucid on outstanding deliverables with grain of salt until they are released 😃.
I am not saying this out of frustration but with what current dynamics of the World outside nothing can stay same in the same minute. Nothing is guaranteed.

I've heard conflicting results abuot V2H on the current cars. Can someone save me from reading 8 pages of thread?

Do all Airs that have been delivered have the ability to support future V2H?

Thanks.

Honestly I don't buy this regulatory thing! If Ford or GM did not face such long delays due to regulatory requirements, Lucid should not!
Same goes for Android Auto. If no other manufacturer has faced such long delays from Google, it is definitely your implementation that is causing the delay, not Google!
I am not saying that Lucid having issues with rolling out these feature is wrong. Blaming a 3rd party may be!

Agree with this sentiment. AA should have been out more than 2 quarters ago!

Whether you buy it or not doesn’t affect whether or not it’s true. I have no reason to believe Lucid is lying, and neither do you, though you are of course free to believe that if you’d like. People hold opinions without evidence all the time.

But that doesn’t change whether it’s true or not.

Lucid is neither Ford nor GM. Both of the latter have far more entrenched lobbying and government relations departments, for example. Both have also done this before.

Lucid is new to this. They are not the same.

Again: Lucid is not other manufacturers. Other manufacturers have already built Android Auto into other vehicles. This is Lucid’s first.

The *first* implementation is always going to take the longest and be scrutinized the most.

Because you don’t believe Lucid when they say it’s a 3rd party? Okay.

I would truly hope that your inside info is accurate. Have been waiting patiently for news on this front since the delivery of my AGT 2 1/2 years ago!
Zero confidence in this, I’ve been promised V2H charging by very reputable people was coming in q1 of 2024…

I agree there have been lots of promises regarding V2H but I do believe this VP was sincere. That said, with the delays in the Gravity rollout my guess is its all hands on deck for that issue and V2H may slip again, although I really hope they are serious and make it happen this year.

Enphase bidirectional charger pushed to 2026. Been waiting for that too.
Enphase has two bidirectional EVSEs in the works for "2026": a DC-coupled CCS plug version compatible with some EVs (likely including the Ioniq 9 SUV), and an AC-coupled J1772 version compatible with Volvo EX90, Polestar 3, and possibly the Air.

Do you mean I can charge another vehicle with gravity or my house? Very new to this so pardon my ignorance.
Gravity has three 1.8kW 120V receptacles you can use to operate external loads.
To charge another vehicle with Gravity (or the Air), Lucid's RangeXChange adapter and mobile charging cable combo will operate at up to 9.6kW 240VAC. It would be much faster than using Gravity's 120V output.

Does "possibly" mean that there is some standardization of how bidirectional EVs acknowledge a request from an EVSE, so the Lucid Air "may" work with the 2026 Enphase bidirectional EVSEs?

I'm thinking that the most economical way, particularly right now, to get some use for home backup during blackouts is the RangeXChange (with appropriate adaptor) to something like an Ecoflow Pro 3 or Ultra. Despite the DC->AC->DC inefficiency, if it's only used for backup during blackouts, that's probably okay.

Yes. Both DC and AC bidirectional charging are in their very early stages though, so there may be some initial incompatibilities until software kinks are ironed out.

Others have tried this - you should be able to search for it in this forum. My recollection was that there were issues or limitations.
