2.0.24 Software Update

That is why we have 2 compartments, one behind the pilot screen for easier access for driver. I think the designed screen location of glove compartment makes it passenger utility when car is on the run.

Feature request:

Valet mode - If I give physical fob key to a valet, I would like to have passcode to be entered when pressing Glove Compartment button. I may want to have valuable belonging in car, don’t want valet to snoop around.
I agree with the Valet mode suggestion. One further thing to add to Valet mode is a geo-ringfence at the valet so that you don't have a Ferris Bueller situation.

Highway Assist - in addition to the problems on curves and rain, why have highway assist if you have to keep your hands on the steering wheel? After 10-15 seconds, a warning flashes to take the wheel.
Because they are still at level 2 driver “assist” functions. When Highway Pilot comes out, that should allow for hands free in whatever geofenced locations are available.

Love the car and the software improvements. Now that my car navigation system knows where I am I've starting using it. The actual navigation system needs work. I haven't been able to get from point A to point B without the system trying to put me on a strange route. I actually passed a small airport near my house and the navigation system tried to route me onto the runway. No joke.
Last weekend, I set Tesla Gigafactory as waypoint from Austin to Houston. Instead of passing by next to freeway, it routed me to private “Tesla Road” into their parking lot as pass thru shortcut to get back to freeway. I was stopped factory entrance post security. Nice try Lucid navigation!

First and foremost, thanks to the hand-raisers that offered to be one of the first to receive UX 2.0. We’re very appreciative of your passion and are hopeful the new OS is living up to expectations.

As you know, the update consisted of several OTA updates. As of today, 2.0.24 is the latest and greatest software version. In analyzing data over the weekend, it looks like many customers have yet to accept and install some of the updates in the series.

I wanted to reach out and advise the group of the 2.0.24 version number. If you’re on it, you’re up to date. If not, check your app or pilot panel to see if there’s an OTA update waiting for you. If there is not, please call, SMS, or email our Customer Care team and they can help facilitate the push. We’ll continue to engage customers here and outside the forum to encourage them to stay up-to-date with updates.

If you are on 2.0.24, feel free to leave your thoughts and feedback here. The team won’t be responding in real-time, but know that they’re paying attention and keenly interested in your feedback.

Cheers!
Len & Team Lucid
I recently observed this - when you are stopped at a signal with cars in front of you and you have left/right turn signal on, the "traffic cleared" alert doent work at all.

Not sure if this is just my experience.

This is a legal requirement. I'm not sure if Lucid or the law sets the timing requirements but there are rules for these systems so companies don't go rogue.

I’m sorry, but this whole “Tesla’s software is great” argument falls apart at phantom braking. I have a car that essentially has no cruise control for long road trips, because I can’t trust it at all not to slam the brakes on me every few miles.

And three years later, Tesla has made zero effort to admit they have a problem, let alone address it.

For all of Lucid‘s software issues, at least they are making an effort to improve.

There are many Teslas in our extended family (and as for now, there are a couple of RSRVs on Lucid & Rivian as well). As for Tesla UX/UI, we found it's quite intuitive & fast. As for advanced features, many of us paid for FSD years ago - yet none of us have to experience the "fully autonomous" that Musk promised years ago.

In the last 3 months, two incidents happened with our Teslas that shook the owner to the bone:
- On my sister's Tesla, the car did phantom-break several times while she was driving locally - not engaging in autopilot at all. Then it's all back to normal. She never has any of those driver-assist features turned on. Tesla couldn't figure out why it happened, and since it no longer happens, they won't take the car in for a diagnostic.
- On my cousin's Tesla, one day, the brake just ...STOPPED working. She had no choice but to run into the tree to stop it. Car was totaled.

I would say those who sing "Tesla SW is years ahead & bullet proof......blabla...." may be a bit too optimistic ...

Tonight on the way home, something weird has happened. I got off freeway ramp and waited for the light to turn as the only car waiting for the light late at night. While stationary, the car open the frunk and on park gear. I freaked out. I immediately closed the frunk and put park gear back to drive gear. Not sure what happened there to cause it to happen, it felt as the car has mind of its own. (Halloween witching hour was over 2 weeks ago) 🤣
I was watching a YouTube while waiting for the light. This opening frunk completely startled me. Could I have press right gear stalk button for park unconsciously? I honestly don’t remeber. Or was my Lucid app was open on the same phone watching YouTube triggered it? I’m not sure if anyone ever has this Phantom Frunk syndrome or this may just be unexplained mystery. 🤔

i have never experienced this although i can see how someone could open the frunk by accidentally tapping the button on screen. do you keep key fob with you in your pocket? i wonder if your body weight shifted to activate the fob?

I had something similar happen in June where the I as pulling into a parking spot and switched from drive to reverse and as I switched to reverse the frunk openned, I had service look at it. They checked all the safety items by trying to open the frunk while the car was in drive, in reverse, moving at a slow speed and were unable to duplicate. It has not happened again. Like you, I wonder if it was me or the car.
So I did a little experiment this morning and was able to replicate and found the cause.

When car is in not moving whether it is in Drive gear or Reverse gear. “Opening frunk” and “Opening trunck” became visible buttons. My phone charging cable was generating enough heat as human fingertip to click the button tho open the frunk. Once the frunk is open, it switched Drive gear to Park gear.

IMPROVEMENT SUGGESTION:
- Please allow “Open Frunk” & “Open Trunk” buttons ONLY be visible when car is in Park gear. This way, there won’t be accident of unintended consequences of opening them in front of red light.

Lots of improvements that could be done via software updates. I like this one.
Something related to the Frunk happened to me two weeks ago. I put stuff in the Frunk and closed it from inside the car. It did not close all the way but apparently it must have locked enough to stay partly engaged. The car went in Park and also gave me the Turtle mode to my dismay and chagrin. After I corrected the issue and the Frunk was fully closed, thankfully the Turtle mode went away.
Another improvement is to not have the Rearview Camera on the front display go past the Buttons that are now on the left. IMO that defeats the purpose of moving them there.
A nice thing I have noticed is that now when I am about to park and the car thinks I am going to hit the curb the Camera displays come up automatically. I had never noticed that before the 2.XX upgrade and was always afraid I would hit the curb.

I have had my Gt for 9 days but I will be brutally honest, my Tesla M3 software is head & shoulders better.

Len
I appreciate your support but after 10 days of owning my Lucid GT, I am so surprised that for $150k, my Tesla M3 software and driver interface puts the Lucid to shame. Forget all the new company and learning the business, the software is not reliable or even close to what it should be. I love the GT driving and engineering, but after a year or so, the software issues are ridiculous for a car costing this much. The SC and techs I have interfaced with are fantastic and your support is awesome but to pay $150k for a car that is cripple, I will not accept the excuses that Lucid is new, Lucid is a startup, we are early adopters, etc....that is pure BS. Lucid dropped the ball and is playing catchup. Your saving grace is the car is spectacular and your team is very supportive. Hope the future is better and software reaches a state of reliability soon.
I understand why some Dream Edition customers still feel let down, thinking that they purchased a car with software that would be equal or superior to Tesla. Phantom braking aside, is the software up to the standard of Tesla at this moment? No, not even close. The question is, where do we go from here? I don’t think anyone in the Lucid software department put up a mission accomplished banner in the break room after 2.0.24. In my opinion Lucid has demonstrated the ability and willingness to make massive improvements in a relatively short period of time. If they continue to listen and make rapid improvements, we may end up with industry leading software.

Aha, glad that yuh found the culprit! I’m sure your confidence is back up knowing how it happened.

I had a situation yesterday where after a spirited and highly enjoyable 1 1/2 hour drive on windy roads, I pulled up to a private gate and my car sent a shock and tilt alert and then just died. After I opened the door everything came back on. It was scary for my wife because she got the shock and tilt alert on her phone and couldn’t reach me because I was out of cell range. It was one of the most dangerous roads around, so my wife feared the worst.

This is probably a suggestion for any advanced auto manufacturer, but it is especially relevant for a new product.

Some owners seem to be having a confidence issue with driving their cars. More transparency would be helpful in increasing owner confidence with our vehicles.

It would increase driver confidence in vehicles if there were:

#1, a owner viewable history of what systems have been checked as operational, both at startup and during routine operation.

#2, a similar viewable log of a history of vehicle detected faults during operation.

#3, a driver option to perform a complete automated check of all the car's systems, with a resulting log of the status of all the checked systems.

Owners should not have to rely on the vehicle's warning lights, or a call to a technician to get information on the present status of all the vehicle's systems.

A Lucid a modern, complicated vehicle. Giving drivers more transparency into the status of the vehicle's integrated systems would aid in driver's confidence, especially when it comes to the safety of the vehicle.

I've been thinking about the "Home Screen" and I have decided it's pretty useless. Here's why:
1. the very top bar is great; keep that on ALL screens, including the backup camera. Can move the weather icon up there too. No need to have the time and temperature shown again literally 2 inches away.
2. The navigation shortcuts are repeated in the nav screen. Really no need to have them there at all.
3. the audio (see my picture) shows the most recent streaming service chosen. When this picture was taken, I was listening to bluetooth, not iHeart Radio. I do like the preset buttons, the five (or whatever) most recently used favorites should be shown when the audio pane is selected by tapping the musical note. It would be even better if I could customize my audio presets, so they weren't dependent on which musical service I was using. For example, a playlist on Spotify could be a preset and so could a particular radio station on iHeartRadio, both shown in the same row. Simply navigating from a radio station in iHeartRadio to a playlist on Bluetooth takes about 6 taps. This car is really smart… Why not have it learn the most recent musical destinations and automatically put them in the presets list, with the option of making one or more "sticky."

Am I missing a certain functionality of this home screen that would make it more useful?

The Valet Card is useless for parking with a valet. Valets will not remember the 5 digit code. We should have a card that allows the person to drive the car but will not open the glove box, frunk or trunk. Our App should also have ability to limit distance and speed while in valet's hands.

Add function in App that allows us to close windows.
You don’t need to remember the code. They can tap it on the microphone array in the ceiling between the driver and passenger seats to drive.

@Firstto520 (Len) please pass my sincerest thanks to the software development, QA, and implementation teams. I didn't have to live long w/ the 1.X software, but dealt w/ it long enough to appreciate the overhaul that was performed to deliver the 2.X framework. I've been involved w/ software development in one way or another for the better part of 40+ yrs. and can appreciate the hours that must've gone into the complete re-write of the software (while supporting the production version); congrats!

Now, since you asked, I will lay out my enhancement/improvement requests (and I apologize if some/most of these have already been covered by others):
  • H - CarPlay - I know that it is in the works, but it is a High priority for me. The navigation where I am is barely useful and the wireless charging port is difficult (if not impossible) for my phone, but leaves me to have to continuously look for my phone to view Apple maps/Google Maps/ Waze, etc. Coupled w/ easier messaging/calling and iTunes, it will improve my experience 1000%
  • H -Easy Entry/Exit. At my age, height, and size, it's difficult to get in and out of the car. Adding "Easy entry/exit" functionality (where seat and steering wheel move out of the way when exiting, and move to profile settings when entering) could help make it a much more usable daily driver for me. I know that it works well on my S550 and I do miss it in the Air.
  • M - Ability to save camera video clips (e.g. after an incident) .. A sentry mode would also be nice.
  • M - Auto High Beam Assist - love the function, would appreciate it if it could be "persistent" (i.e. recall last position so I don't have to turn it on every time)
  • M - Would appreciate being able to see the % of battery left AND the estimated mileage left at the same time on the Instrument cluster.
  • M - Would be helpful to implement a "Valet Mode" (w/ geo-fencing alerts, glovebox lockout, etc.)
  • L - Ability to check for updates on Pilot Screen (and be told that the current version is the latest) - would be helpful to know that all updates aren't applied yet.
  • L - When exiting the garage, have to close the rear camera view on the right cockpit panel in order to then find the Homelink button. Should be more intuitive/easier to perform the task.
  • L - Implementing a "Pet Mode" would be useful.
  • L - Being able to save Passenger seat settings would also be useful
Thanks!

Lucid thanks for the software improvements and for listening to us owners.

After driving 52 years with an analog speedometer I find it difficult to maintain a consistent speed with just a digital readout. Give an option to replace the “analog” power/regen display with an analog speedometer display.

Apologies if this was posted somewhere else, but I couldn't find it. Before the 2.xx update, the efficiency (e.g. 3.1 mi/kwh) since the last charge was displayed to the left of the speedometer. It's not there anymore, and I can't seem to find a setting or option to turn it on. I'm thinking I'm just missing a button somewhere, but perhaps Lucid removed this?

it's been removed. Many are wishing for it back.

Sort of like Delorean EV is doing.

You can find it in

-> Settings
-> Display
-> Tripmeter

I’m actually a little confused by how this works. My understanding is that Tesla and BMW are also level 2, yet they seem to be able to go hands free for longer stretches. Could it be that Lucid is restricting it, or is there some other metric they need to prove?
